Chapter 202: Jiang Quansheng’s Beating by Jiang Yexun

"Serves him right!"

The villagers echoed in agreement, none of them finding the punishment unjust. Jiang Guoli looked around at the people who once obeyed his every word, now eager to tear his family apart. His heart sank with a profound sense of desolation. As his gaze landed on Su Xiaoxiao and her companions, a smoldering hatred flared in his eyes. Su Xiaoxiao, however, did not provoke him further, choosing instead to look away.

Aunt Guo patted her hand reassuringly. "Don’t be afraid. Now that he’s no longer the brigade leader, he’ll be quiet for a while, at least until after the new year."

"It won’t stay quiet for long," Su Xiaoxiao shook her head.

"You mean Yu Sipeng will cause trouble? Their family has a lot of girls, and her parents can’t always step in," Aunt Guo said, knowing that Yu Sipeng would undoubtedly stir up trouble. However, without strong backing from her maternal family, she wouldn’t be able to make much of a fuss on her own.

Su Xiaoxiao shook her head again.

"This is just the beginning. Jiang Quansheng has lost all shame. He’ll definitely try to replace Yu Siping with a new wife, and that’s when the real drama will start."

Aunt Guo sighed, acknowledging the truth in her words.

As the criticism meeting continued, Jiang Yexun escorted Aunt Guo and Su Xiaoxiao home before riding a bicycle to the city, carrying the lunch boxes and thermos from the previous day. After returning the items to Mr. Gao, he purchased several large medicinal pots. Part of the herbal medicines had been sent from the capital, but some had to be sourced locally. Fortunately, the Northeast was rich in medicinal herbs, providing all he needed for making whitening and hydrating pills.

Having completed his shopping, he boarded a minibus back to the Hongfeng Brigade. Upon his arrival, he saw Jiang Quansheng heading out of the brigade. Jiang Quansheng’s face twisted with anger at the sight of Jiang Yexun, who was carrying a large bamboo basket and packages wrapped in oil paper.

"Jiang Yexun, you must be delighted to see us like this," he spat through gritted teeth.

"Get lost!" Jiang Yexun kicked Jiang Quansheng, who staggered back, realizing too late whom he was provoking. Embarrassed by his cowardice, Jiang Quansheng tried to save face by spewing more venom.

"Don’t think Su Xiaoxiao is anything special. She brought ruin to our family, and soon enough, yours will be just as broken!" he cursed, ready to run.

But Jiang Yexun was quicker. Before Jiang Quansheng could flee, he was kicked in the back, collapsing like a turtle on its shell. Jiang Yexun pinned him down, grabbing his hair and slamming his head repeatedly into the ground.

Initially, Jiang Quansheng had the strength to curse, but soon he was begging for mercy. "I was wrong! It’s my foul mouth! Jiang Yexun, spare me, you’re going to kill me!"

Jiang Yexun’s eyes, cold as ice, showed no sign of relenting. He methodically ensured Jiang Quansheng felt his head would shatter but didn’t actually break the skin, making it seem like serious harm without leaving evidence. Only when he sensed Jiang Quansheng might be seriously injured did he finally throw him aside like a rag doll.

"Don’t let me hear you mention my wife again, or I’ll beat you every time," Jiang Yexun warned with a chilling voice. Jiang Quansheng trembled with hatred, his mind racing with vengeful thoughts. But another swift kick from Jiang Yexun made him scream in agony.

"Did you hear me?" Jiang Yexun demanded.

"I heard! I won’t mention her again!" Jiang Quansheng stammered, nodding frantically.

"Get lost!" Jiang Yexun shouted, and Jiang Quansheng scrambled away, his retreating figure eliciting a derisive laugh from Jiang Yexun. Picking up the packages, he continued home.

Aunt Guo, seeing him return, quickly helped with the items. "Why did you buy so much? What’s with all the medicinal pots? Are you or Xiaoxiao unwell?" she asked, worriedly inspecting Jiang Yexun. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Jiang Yexun smiled reassuringly. "Mother, I told you about the whitening and hydrating pills we’re making. We need these for that."

They had been busy for the past few days, and now that things were starting to calm down, he thought it would be a good idea to get next month’s shipment ready. It would be best to make more, especially since they’d be away for nearly a month during the New Year.

"Yes, this is definitely something that needs attention," Aunt Guo said quickly, nodding in agreement. With Xiaoxiao being so capable, they couldn’t afford to lag behind.

However, she also felt that her son’s and daughter-in-law’s time was too precious to be wasted on decocting medicine, so she thought of taking on some of the responsibility herself.

"Can you teach me how to decoct the medicine? I usually just knit or sew clothes at home, and I don’t have much else to do right now," she offered.

Jiang Yexun looked at her and pondered for a moment before explaining how much water to add and how long to boil the medicine. After he finished, he emphasized, "Normally, Xiaoxiao and I handle this, so you don’t need to worry too much. Just help out if we happen to be away."

"I understand, it’s not a difficult task," Aunt Guo said, feeling that it was a simple enough job. But she hesitated and asked, "But the smell of the medicine is quite strong. What should we say if people ask? Saying you’re sick won’t be believable, and saying Xiaoxiao is sick would be like cursing her. Should I say I’m sick?"

Jiang Yexun thought for a moment and then replied, "How about we say I’m the one who’s sick? Tell them I have excessive liver heat and a bad temper."

Aunt Guo clapped her hands in agreement. "Yes, that’s a good idea! Everyone in the brigade already thinks you’re not easy to deal with, so they’ll believe it."

"By the way, where’s the Little Educated Youth?" Jiang Yexun asked, noticing that Su Xiaoxiao hadn’t come out yet. He craned his neck to look at the half-closed door.
