Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 390 Tian Peng Sends a Warning
"How can you be so calm? This is a really big deal!" Tian Peng looked at Chen Nuo’s composed demeanor with growing anxiety; this was an emergency.
"How serious is it." Chen Nuo asked indifferently.
"Extremely serious, it’s really a big deal! Ahh, there’s no time to explain now; you must come with me quickly."
Tian Peng said and tried to pull Chen Nuo, who dodged, "Speak if you have something to say. With this time, the issue could be resolved already. If you’re not going to talk, then scram. I still have dishes to research."
"Really? You’re researching new dishes? What are they? Can I try some?"
Tian Peng had his interest piqued by the new dishes but quickly remembered that more important matter and shook his head hastily, "Oh my, Shopkeeper Chen, now’s not the time for that. This is a really big deal! Your disciple, Sun Wukong, he’s about to face a huge disaster!"
Chen Nuo had thought it was something else and was surprised to hear it was this; to him, this matter wasn’t even worth breaking a table or chair over, "Hmm, I know. Now scram, don’t bother me."
Tian Peng looked at Chen Nuo in shock; Chen Nuo was far too nonchalant about this.
Such a big deal, and it involved his senior disciple, yet how could he not even furrow his brow, "Shopkeeper Chen, aren’t you going to ask what happened?"
Chen Nuo knew what it was about without Tian Peng saying, but he didn’t want to waste time with Tian Peng, "No need to ask, get lost, or else don’t come back again. I’m busy."
Tian Peng, however, didn’t hear what Chen Nuo had said and just started talking to himself, "That Mr. Monkey is quite a character; he actually got that group of baldies to eat ’Buddha Jumps Over the Wall’, which is a meat dish. My head’s spinning just hearing about it. I hurried back to tell you."
"Oh." Chen Nuo nodded, "So he ate a dish, what’s the problem? He should be back by now anyway."
"How could that be okay? Someone in my residence just told me about it in secret; not many people know yet. You must come with me to sort this out right away. If the Buddha Ancestor or the Jade Emperor finds out, it won’t be resolved so easily." As he talked, Tian Peng again tried to tug at Chen Nuo.
Chen Nuo slapped his hand away and then asked, "So not many people know yet?"
"Right, just a few know. Let’s hurry; any later will be too late."
Chen Nuo scoffed. Sun Wukong’s efficiency was truly slow. He had thought the matter already resolved, with Tian Peng informing him afterward, but it turned out things had only gotten this far.
Seeing Chen Nuo motionless, Tian Peng thought he was contemplating how to resolve the issue for Sun Wukong, so he said, "Shopkeeper Chen, I know you’ve never left Chaos Residence, but this is no small matter. The slightest misstep, and there might be no return."
"Don’t worry." Chen Nuo patted Tian Peng’s shoulder, "If he can’t handle this little problem, then I really have been wasting my time training him all these years."
"What to do, perhaps I should rush over now, bring back Mr. Monkey first, and then... solve the rest later." Tian Peng was still anxiously thinking of a solution when he heard Chen Nuo’s words and suddenly froze, "What? What do you mean?"
"Exactly what you’re thinking." Chen Nuo said.
"What I’m thinking?" Tian Peng was stunned for a moment, "You’re training Mr. Monkey, but you shouldn’t be testing him on this matter, Shopkeeper Chen. This is really a big deal. So many Immortal Officials witnessed it, and I’ve heard ten monks from Buddhism have eaten ’Buddha Jumps Over the Wall’. This is no small matter."
Chen Nuo facepalmed, wondering if Tian Peng was really that foolish or just too naive, "I’m saying, this is a situation I had already anticipated."
Tian Peng still hadn’t grasped the meaning behind Chen Nuo’s words, "That’s right, to be honest, I feel it too. Your cooking is so delicious that even the Jade Emperor loves your dishes, so how could those monks resist such temptation?"
"Actually, speaking of which, it’s also their fault for their weak willpower. I don’t understand how they managed to achieve Buddhahood with such little determination. It’s no wonder that after so many years of achieving Buddhahood, they still don’t have a name."
Chen Nuo sighed and explained once more, but Tian Peng still didn’t understand his point, and he really didn’t feel like explaining a second time.
"It’s not really Mr. Monkey’s fault. I should have gone to that Buddhist Dharma banquet myself, then I could have intervened in whatever happened. Now, look what’s happened, that group of monks is relentless, insisting they were drugged. How could that be possible? With dishes that tasty, who needs drugs? That’s just a slap in the face to our Chaos Residence!"
Tian Peng continued to mutter to himself. Initially, he was somewhat panicked, thinking about what they would do if the Buddha Ancestor blamed them and it affected Chaos Residence.
But Chen Nuo’s calm and collected demeanor gave him some confidence. Although he was still worried, he wasn’t as flustered as before.
If Chen Nuo was so certain, then this matter would definitely be resolved safely, but poor Mr. Monkey is the one suffering. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Even making a good dish could be blamed on him. After this incident, he wondered if Mr. Monkey could still maintain his original passion for cooking. He still wanted to follow Mr. Monkey in the future.
"Oh right, there’s one more thing," Tian Peng said, "Mr. Monkey seems to have not told anyone the dish is called Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. Isn’t that name a bit problematic? Maybe Mr. Monkey couldn’t bring himself to say it in front of those monks?"
"He hasn’t mentioned the name yet?"
Chen Nuo was somewhat surprised by this, but with his understanding of Sun Wukong, it definitely wasn’t for that reason that he didn’t tell them the name.
"Yeah, with Mr. Monkey’s character, he should have told them the name of the dish as soon as it was served. And now it’s over, and the dish is all eaten, yet the name hasn’t been mentioned." Tian Peng was also puzzled, "Isn’t Mr. Monkey holding back on some Ultimate Move?"
This was exactly what Chen Nuo was thinking. Having previously suggested to Sun Wukong to make a fool of Buddhism in public, Sun Wukong was sure not to go against his wishes, and could only exaggerate them further.
"Shopkeeper Chen, are you really not worried about Mr. Monkey at all?" Tian Peng asked, "With his personality, he’s not the kind to suffer any loss. Although there were so many Immortal Officials present, you can’t guarantee that none would betray him. What if there really was a betrayal? How would Mr. Monkey handle that?"
Chen Nuo looked at Tian Peng with some surprise. He knew the original story where Sun would often bully Tian Peng, but their bond was one formed through adversity.
Unlike now, where in the original story, their bond developed gradually on the Journey to the West.
It was only a reluctant friendship now, yet Tian Peng still seemed so concerned about Sun Wukong.
While Tian Peng continued to worry about Sun Wukong, Chen Nuo began to ponder other matters.
Ever since he arrived in this world, taking Sun Wukong as his disciple, he had changed the general direction of this world.
Even the start of the Journey to the West had been delayed quite a bit, but upon closer observation, one could see that although the major plot points no longer followed the original story, many of the smaller events still unfolded as they had originally.
Sun Wukong hadn’t met Tang Xuanzang, but he had met Jin Chanzi. The incident with the Six-Eared Macaque also occurred ahead of time, as well as the events involving Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong.
Zhu Bajie wasn’t called Zhu Bajie at the moment; he was still Tian Peng, and the name Sun Wukong wasn’t given by Patriarch Bodhi, but by himself.
