I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 76: Trap for the Invader
|3rd POV|
The King of Gokuya Kingdom looks at his advisor with a frown on his face. He just learned the fate of Charles and his army. Total annihilation of an army is not something that happens all the time. Even in the most savage place, this did not happen often.
"How?"
The king looks at his advisor for a few seconds and says.
"How is this happening? The only reason why I let you go with this plan is because all of you convince me to attack the Gipan Kingdom. Now, not only did we lose one of our finest generals, but we also lost more than two thousand men in this fight."
Harris and the rest of Charles’ personal unit did not stop in the capital and deliver the news, but rather, they quickly went back to the Vortigern Duchy, where they would fulfill their lord’s last wish.
That is why the people in the Gokuya Kingdom’s capital thought they also died in battle.
"Two thousand men and one of the greatest generals in the history of this kingdom. That is not a small loss. Do you know what’s worse? The Southern Kingdom will know about this news, and they will have a big party because of this news. Charles Vortigern is the greatest shield to ensure the South does not retaliate against us."
The king looks around and continues.
"How did that even happen? Killing more than two thousand people is something only a monster can do! And we are the ones using monsters as our weapons! Don’t tell me they can summon a monster as well?!"
And he is not wrong. The ones killing his soldiers are not human. They are not humans but rather creatures summoned by Gwyn.
After Gwyn gets hit by Charles’ last attack, his summoned creatures go on a rampage. His scream of pain makes his summoned creatures roar in anger. When Gwyn summoned them, he did not know that he was holding them back because he did not want to create as much destruction as possible.
However, with Gwyn thinking nothing but pain at that moment, the creatures he summons go all out to avenge their master. The first victim of their rampage is Charles, who went unconscious and got turned into ashes by the Vermillion Bird’s fire.
The next thing they did was to kill the mage and any siege engine the enemy had before, destroying the enemy foot soldier. It was not a fight but rather a massacre. Even when the enemy uses all their talents and magic, they cannot beat the creatures Gwyn summoned.
Some of them manage to create wounds on their body, but the enemy cannot defeat them. The only one who can kill one of the creatures Gwyn Summoned is Charles and his talent, but even then, he will go unconscious after using it. He can only kill them all when they stay in a straight line, whereas Charles only needs to use his talent once to kill them all. However, the chance of that happening is so low that it is impossible.
"Well?! What do you have to say?!"
The king looks at his advisor, who tries their hardest not to look at him. After ten seconds of silence, one of the advisors says,
"I think this is the fault of Lord Charles, your highness. He said that Gwyndolin was only a healer, a powerful healer, but it was not the case in reality. From the spy we sent to the north to confirm the defeat, Gwyndolin Cunnigham is a powerful mage and has double talents."
The other advisors nod their heads in agreement as they are glad that there is a scapegoat that can take the blame. They want to tell the king that he is the one who is eager to attack the north, while they only suggest it. However, they cannot say that as their heads will be rolling on the ground if they do that.
So they are glad there is someone who they can blame for this mess.
"That is right, your highness! If we have the right information, we will order Lord Yarkim to hurry up and reinforce Lord Charles and his army."
Yarkim Harruman, another Duke of the Gokuya Kingdom. He is the second Lord Commander and now the Marshall of the entire army of the Gokuya Kingdom, succeeding Charles.
The king looks around for a few seconds and says.
"Speaking of Spy, why don’t our spy inform us about this young man?"
The king looks at one of the advisors, the one who is handling the spy network for their kingdom. He takes a deep breath and says.
"They have informed me, your highness."
"Oh? Then why in God’s name have you not told me about it?"
"Because I thought it was not important at the time. A single young man who has two talents is not as important to disturb your time. That is what I thought at that time, your highness."
The king can only sigh after he hears the answer.
"Haaa... Fine. What does our spy find? What kind of talent does he have? How can that talent let him be a powerful healer and mage?"
The old man nods, the spymaster, and says.
"Gwyndolin Alexander Cunnigham has two talents. The first is [Druid], and the second is [Astrologian]. We know the first one because we have a record of someone having the talent [Druid]. It was a talent that let the user control nature and use the energy nature has to heal the people he touched and near him."
"What about the second one? [Astrologian] was it?"
"Yes. The second one is something we don’t know. Even the bishop we bribed in their capital city did not know it. However, they inform one of our spies that it involves stars. At first, we thought it would let him know where he was going because we used the stars to guide us to where we needed to go. However, by the look of it, we were wrong."
The king nods his head and thinks for a few seconds before saying.
"Investigate deeper. Bribe the bishop or anyone who knows about his talent. I want to know what kind of talent it was. If the [Druid] lets him heal, the second talent, [Astrologian], must be the one that lets him do all the damage to the army. Go deeper and make sure to get the information about [Astrologian] talent."
"Yes, your highness."
"Good."
The king is about to say more, but suddenly one of the rings on his hand shines. He rubs the ring, and suddenly a massive hologram appears in front of him. The other people in the room can see what is inside the hologram, and their eyes widen.
"Your Highness."
What is on the hologram is the sight of a fortress on the hill surrounded by thick forest. This is the bloody fortress, and marching to the fortress is an army of monsters and humans working together.
Some of the older advisors frown at the sight of the monster marching alongside the humans but decide to hold themselves back from saying anything.
"Ah, shadow. It looks like Yarkim is about to attack the fortress, huh?"
"Yes, your highness. As per your order, I will observe the fight from now on."
"Good. How is the situation?"
"Some traps kill a hundred soldiers, but so far, so good. However, there is something not right in the enemy camp."
"Oh? What is it?"
"This place is too quiet. Even the Lord Commander thinks something is happening within the enemy territory."
"Is that why the monster is in the front while he and his army slowly move forward behind them?"
"Yes. The monster will be the one taking damage and the one destroying the wall."
"I see."
The king and the people in the room watch as the army slowly marches, but when they reach a certain point distance from the fortress, something comes out of the ground. They are magical scrolls that Gwyndolin prepares before he and the rest of the army go back to Shadowfall City.
The scroll is called [Golem Traps], a level thirty-five magic trap that summons ten golems to fight the intruder. Players use this trap in their guild to stall the enemy so they can prepare. With twenty-five scrolls coming out of the ground, two hundred and five golems land on the ground.
However, the trap did not stop there. When the [Golem Traps] activate, two more traps activate. The first one releases ten scrolls that summon fifty plant creatures from each scroll on top of the wall. These creatures hold a bow in their hands.
They are called [Archer Treant], a low-level [Treant] that uses a bow and arrow. They did not have much defense and HP, but they dealt quite an amount of damage if the player was not careful. Sadly, a high-level player is tanky enough to take damage from twenty of them at once without their HP reduced.
The second one summons ten scrolls on the highest tower in the fortress. Coming from each scroll is a being wearing a robe, but what makes them unique is their face. Instead of a humanoid or monster face, it has nothing but a void filled with a star.
The king and the people in the room widened their eyes before the king shouted.
"What is that?! What is happening?!"
Their eyes get even wider when the golem roars and starts to charge at Yarkim and his army.
