Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Aftermath

"Argh"

I clutch my hand as I heal what is left of my left hand. I give a weak smile at Jonathan and Sonia, who now have horrified expressions on their faces. I’m careless. I didn’t know that the enemy had that kind of power.

I’m lucky that he decided to aim for me instead of aiming for my people. I think that attack can destroy the wall and travel to the healing tent, where there are many people who cannot move and dodge the attack.

"You guys did not need to cry, you know? I’m still alive, and it was only a left hand. I use my right hand."

I try to make the atmosphere a little bit light, but it looks like it is not working. I don’t know if it is because of my word or it is because of my expression because I know that I cannot hold it down. The pain is too much. Even when the bleeding is stopped, the pain is still there.

The pain slowly goes away, but it is slow. I had already cast my most powerful healer, but my arm did not go back for some reason.

I know that I can regenerate limbs because I do that when I’m doing my duty around the Southern Territory, so I know that it was not the result of my spells but something else.

It looks like that attack has some kind of curse that did not let me regenerate my arm.

I can only endure it and go to my guild vault. I have some ideas for getting my left arm back, but I don’t know if it will work.

"A-Are you okay, son?"

I smile at my father and say.

"I’m fine, father. The pain slowly goes away, and I can still do my job as a healer."

"No!"

I blink for a second when I hear my father, Jonathan, Jullian, and Sonia shout as one. My father quickly shakes his head and says.

"Go and rest. Leave the rest to us. You have done enough."

I want to say something but decide to stop and nod.

"Very well, father."

I get up but almost fall because I lose my balance. Lucky for me, Jonathan, the good boy he is, catches me and helps me find my balance.

"I really need to get used to this."

I muttered. I shake my head and, with the help of Jonathan, walk to my tent, which is lucky enough still intact from the traitor’s attack. When I arrive inside my tent, I quickly take a nap on my bed. This fight takes a lot out of me.

|3rd POV|

It has been ten days since the fight between the Cunningham family and the Gokuya Kingdom. The news of the total annihilation of Charles ’The Great’ Army reaches the people in the capital city of Gipan Kingdom.

The news also reached the ear of a young woman.

"T-They did it."

Catharina looks at the newspaper in her hands and trembles. She knows that Gwyndolin and his men are great fighters, but she never thought he could defeat one of the main bosses in the second arc.

Charles, ’The Great’ Vortigern, is one of the bosses that lead the first wave of attack. He is one of the most annoying bosses, in her opinion, because of how powerful his talent is. He is the most versatile character in the game because of how his power can work with anything.

Lastly, what makes her mad at Charles is the last part of his talent. The unstoppable attack that can one hit kills the main character if the players are not careful. Catharina still remembers how she was about to kill the boss, but then he decided to throw his weapon at her and kill her instantly, resetting the progress.

She screamed really loud that day because she forgot to save her progress.

However, her expression turns to a frown when he sees the photo in the newspaper. The first thing is Gwyn’s hands or how one of them is gone. She did not know what happened there, but she had a feeling that it was because of Charles’ talent that Gwyn lost his left arm.

The second thing that makes her frown is the new guy next to Gwyn. She knows Jullian, the Lightning Commander. The one who kills an army with a quick movement. Sonia, the Martial Master, the Homunculus, and the master of magic that can bombard enemies from a distance and heal people in her unit every turn.

The last person who should not be in Gwyn’s faction. She knows who Jonathan is, but he should not appear in this timeline or be in Gwyn’s faction.

Jonathan, in the game, is a Yandere type of person. If players decide to recruit him, he will be the only NPC who will immediately have one hundred percent loyalty and love for the player. Not only that, but Jonathan is also the only NPC who has permanent loyalty, a hundred percent. However, he will start causing problems for the player if the player gets too many love interests.

An ally? Not a problem, but when you decide to collect a large number of love interests? He starts his move.

In her past life, Catharina read about how Jonathan will try his hardest to make the other love interest lose loyalty and love points with the main character. At worst, one of the love interests will die in a suspicious manner, and many players already know that Jonathan is the culprit.

Jonathan is not an optional character to get as a love interest for a casual player because most casual players want to collect many love interests in their playthrough. However, for a speedrunner, he is a must. Not only because he is easy to join, you only need to rescue him from a dungeon, but he is also the most loyal character, so the player does not need to spend their time talking to him to increase his loyalty and closeness.

The last thing that many speedrunners want from him is his talent. When you first recruit him, he is a talentless NPC, but the player can awaken his talent. It was not the strongest or most useful talent, but it was useful enough for the speedrunners for their playthrough.

At least until a new meta speedrun strategy appears.

"It looks like I’m lucky that he is not rebelling, but... There is another problem." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Catharina continues to read the newspaper and learns that two of the Southern Noble decide to defect against the Royal Family and betray the Cunningham family. If not for Gwyndolin and his insight, the betrayal would cost more, and the Gokuya Kingdom would easily march to the Southern Territory.

Lord Lionheart has been judged and found guilty by the Southern Nobles who come to Shadowfall. She read the agreement between the House of Tarrow, the House of Lionheart, and the Gokuya Kingdom.

And it was eye-opening to her. She knows something happened that made the Cunningham Family rebel against the Royal Family in the Game Timeline, but she never thought it would be this big.

The northern noble extorted the southern noble for their service of healing because the previous king decided to ban a hospital and healing house, a decision she thinks is stupid to this day. She knows that a king’s edict cannot be overturned that easily because it needs the approval of ten Great Houses out of Thirteen Great Houses. The southern nobles only have two Great Nobles; Cunningham House is one of them, while the rest is in the north.

Catharina also realizes how the king managed to fix that problem by appointing him as a Grandmaster of Medicine. It will let him heal the South’s people and ensure the next king cannot ban the apothecary Gwyn built.

Catharina shakes his head and sees her name being called. The newspaper says how she decided to hire a mercenary to help the south, and because of her, the Gokuya Kingdom halted in their tracks.

The newspaper also put a direct quote from Gwyn.

"Lady Catharina, Thank you for your assistance. Thank you for the reinforcement when the other did not give us anything. Your help let us survive this day, and as the heir of the Cunningham Family, I will make sure to pay this debt."

She did not know what to think about this. She did not want her involvement in this war to be known by the others, but it looked like the victory was too big for the newspaper to hold. She sighs and puts away the newspaper.

"Cathy."

She looks back and sees her father walk toward her.

"What is it, Father?"

Her father looks at the newspaper next to her and nods.

"It looks like you already read the news, good. It will be easier to tell you this."

"Tell me what?"

"Here, a letter from the capital."

Catharina takes the letter and reads it. The longer she reads it, the paler her complexion gets.

"This is..."

"Yes. An official call from the royal family. The King wants to talk to you."
