Chapter 61: Chapter 61: What Kind of Extinct Saint Are You?

The child, who was already injured, still had his forehead wrapped in gauze. The wound must have torn open again, because blood was seeping out. It was a ghastly sight.

By now, Ivy White seemed to have descended into madness.

She grabbed a pillow and pressed it over the child’s face, tears streaming uncontrollably. "It’s all your fault," she sobbed. "If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended up like this. Why did you have to be born?"

"Once you’re dead, we’ll all be free."

"Grace Winslow, it’s all your fault! Everything is your fault! I won’t let you get away with this! I swear I won’t!"

Grace Winslow sneezed several times in a row. She had the distinct feeling someone was cursing her name.

She rubbed her nose and frowned.

’Is that Ivy White cursing me again?’

Just as she was muttering to herself, she heard the wail of police sirens outside.

She froze for a moment.

’Did something happen at the factory again?’

The textile factory was certainly a hub of activity tonight.

Even Oscar Osborne was roused from his sleep.

He hurried over to the dormitories.

Only then did he learn that Ivy White was the cause of the commotion again.

Luckily, Mrs. Sawyer in the next room heard that something was wrong and broke down the door. Otherwise, the child would have died.

Even so, the child’s condition wasn’t good; he was barely breathing.

After rescuing the child, she quickly had someone call the police.

The child had cried until his voice was gone, leaving him as weak and listless as a kitten.

Ivy White was taken away by the police.

The child, in this state, needed to be taken to the hospital.

But no one felt right about sending such a young child to the hospital with no one to look after him.

It wasn’t clear who said it, but someone muttered that they should find Grace Winslow and have her go to the hospital to look after the child.

After all, it was her ex-husband’s child. It wouldn’t be a problem for her to take care of him, they reasoned.

Grace Winslow was groggily woken from her sleep.

"Grace, you have to go see! Ivy White has gone mad! She tried to kill her own child! It’s a good thing Mrs. Sawyer found her, or that poor baby would be dead!"

"He’s not even a year old, so tiny... Whatever wrongs the adults have committed, the child is ultimately innocent."

"Now that Caleb Forrest is in trouble and Ivy White might be going to jail... Grace, that child is so young, he can’t be left uncared for. Why don’t you take him in and look after him?"

Grace Winslow almost laughed out loud at her words.

She looked at the woman in front of her, thought for a moment, and then finally placed her. "You’re Flora Chase, right?"

"If I recall correctly, you and your husband have been married for three years and still don’t have any kids. Why don’t you take the child home and look after him?"

"And why on earth should I raise Ivy White’s child?"

"She seduced my husband, destroyed my family, and forced me into a divorce. And now I’m supposed to repay her evil with kindness by taking care of her child?"

"What? Am I supposed to raise her kid, only for him to find out the truth later and come back for revenge?"

"Is there something wrong with your brain? Why don’t you just follow the ambulance to the hospital and get your head examined?"

"Now get the hell out of here. Whoever wants to look after that child can do it. Just don’t bother me. I want no part of it."

With that said, Grace slammed the door shut.

BANG! The door nearly slammed right into Flora Chase’s nose.

Her eyes went wide. She was still trying to process the tongue-lashing Grace had just given her.

"I mean, what kind of person is she? No wonder Caleb Forrest wanted to divorce you. You’re so vicious and selfish! What could a child that young possibly know? You’re divorced now, so it’s not like you’ll have an easy time remarrying. What’s the harm in looking after him? You’re truly heartless..."

Before she could finish, the door swung open again. This time, a basin of cold water was splashed right in her face.
