Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Ivy White is Pregnant

For the first time, Grace Winslow actually felt grateful to Ivy White and Caleb Forrest.

If it weren’t for Ivy’s obsession with fashion in her past life—how she had to buy every new style that came out—Grace wouldn’t have seen so much and developed such a keen understanding of popular trends. She never would have been able to earn her first pot of gold now.

Grace returned to the finance department in high spirits.

When they saw her return, several colleagues gathered around. "What did the director want with you?"

"I heard the factory’s planning something big, Grace. Do you know any details?"

"They’ll announce the details at tomorrow’s meeting. But if any of you know how to sew, this should be good news for you," Grace replied with a smile.

That immediately got many of them thinking.

Grace had just gotten downstairs after her shift when she spotted Ivy White.

She looked haggard and pale, as if she had aged several years.

She bore no resemblance to the delicate, elegant woman she used to be.

Upon seeing Grace, she approached her. "Grace, why can’t you just let me go?"

"I know you’re jealous that Caleb treats me so well, that he only has room in his heart for me. But you’re already divorced. Do you really have to go so far as to ruin his reputation and get him fired? Will you only be happy then?"

"He would never harass you. Why are you framing him?"

"Please, Grace, I’m begging you. I’m pregnant with Caleb’s child. A child can’t grow up without a father. I’m begging you, spare him, and spare me too."

As she spoke, Ivy dropped to her knees in front of Grace.

It was the end of the workday, and people were streaming out of the office building. The commotion quickly drew the attention of many passersby.

Grace looked down at Ivy, a cold smirk on her lips. "Spare you?"

"You’ve got some nerve, Ivy. You’re the one who showed up with your child, looking for Caleb for support. You knew he was married, but you still shamelessly moved into our home and caused so much trouble that you forced us to divorce."

"You were the other woman, and you have the audacity to come running to me, telling me to spare you?"

"So who’s really the one who won’t let go?"

"It’s a fact that Caleb harassed me. Plenty of people saw it happen. Why on earth should I forgive him?"

"Do you think kneeling here, crying a little, and shedding a few tears is enough to shift all the blame onto me?"

"If I were you, I’d get an abortion while you’re still young. Then I’d find a man to marry, and fast. Don’t wait around for Caleb."

"Even if he gets out of this, his future is completely shot. Why waste your time on a man like that?"

Leaving no room for rebuttal, Grace turned and walked away.

Ivy remained kneeling on the ground, her knees stinging with a fiery pain. Her face felt as though she’d been brutally slapped.

The people around them were pointing and whispering about her.

Thanks to Mrs. Sawyer spreading the news, everyone in the factory now knew about her sordid affair with Caleb Forrest.

Naturally, no one was on Ivy’s side.

Even the few men who felt sorry for her were quickly reminded of the situation by the women nearby, and they all began to avoid Ivy like the plague.

Without Caleb, Ivy was nothing.

It would be nearly impossible for her to even get the letter of introduction needed to move and start a new life elsewhere.

Grace’s good mood had been soured by the confrontation with Ivy. Furious, she went to the cafeteria, got a serving of braised pork, and ate her fill. Only then did she start to feel much better.

Dazed and dispirited, Ivy returned to Caleb’s dorm room.

After what happened with Caleb, the factory was supposed to reclaim the dorm room. But Ivy had thrown a fit, threatening suicide, and the factory management didn’t want to force the issue. So, they had to temporarily let her stay.

The room was a mess, and the sound of a child’s crying filled her ears.

The sound grated on Ivy’s nerves, and she couldn’t stop herself from roaring, "Cry, cry, cry! What is there to cry about? All you ever do is cry! Why don’t you just die!"
