I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 91: He was crying because of her
Raymond got to the mansion before the twins and took out the first guard he came across. Luckily, they had similar builds so he stole his clothes and pretended to be the guard. Thank God for the hat.
Shortly after, the twins arrived and he stuck to one place with his head down. He knew he needed to find Ariel before they took her away to a different place so he started searching.
Since his appearance was famous in the internet and news outlets, he couldn’t risk coming face to face with anyone.
’Where do I find her?’ He wondered and came across a hallway. He looked back, there were no guards, so he rushed to walk past the hallway but halfway through, he spotted some guards coming his way and before they noticed him, he entered the nearest room.
Silently, he waited for the guards to walk past and then he gave out a silent sigh.
’They must be gone.’ He thought and reached out for the door handle. That was when he heard his name. It came from a voice which was so close to a whisper and yet like a bell in his head.
"Sir Raymond?"
He froze and his eyes widened. How could he not know who that voice belonged to? Even if he heard it in his sleep, he would surely wake up just to look at her face.
Raymond slowly turned and behold, there was Ariel, standing a few feet away from him with a bruised face, scarred body and pale complexion. She looked so skinny that one would immediately conclude that she got starved on countless occasions. She looked horrible and his heart felt pained. This was his fault.
"Is that really you?" She took slow steps towards him. "I’m not dreaming, am I? This isn’t a hallucination. You’re really here, right?" The disbelief in her eyes only made Raymond feel more pain in his heart and wondered what torture she had gone through to look like that.
She suffered. She really suffered and he could never imagine it with a straight face.
His face contorted in agony, like someone who would cry any moment and he called out to her.
"Ariel." He called her name and as if struck by a sweet and pleasant truth, she smiled warmly.
A smile he had longed to see for a long time. A smile he wanted to wake up to every morning and every night before going to bed. A smile that radiated with her innocence. Was that innocence still there? 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Tears slowly slid down her eyes and she gulped down the burden in her chest.
"Yes, Sir Raymond." She pursed her lips and sniffed. "I’m Ariel. Your Ariel."
Raymond’s heart raced and he rushed towards her and embraced her, pressing her head in his chest and she broke into tears.
"Ariel. My Ariel. I found you. I finally found you."
They both stayed like that for no more than five minutes when Ariel realized it wasn’t the time to be cozying up to each other’s embrace. As much as she missed him she didn’t want to endanger him.
"Sir Raymond, what are you doing here?" She asked him but immediately shook her head. "I mean, I know you’re here to save me but you’re not here alone, right?" She asked and Raymond slid her hair behind her ear.
"It grew." Was all he could say in response to her words. He saw a scar behind her ear and pursed his lips, his eyes screaming the guilt and regret he was feeling.
Ariel looked aside and covered the scar with her hair.
"I’m..."
"Please don’t say it, Ariel." Raymond said and placed his hands on her shoulders. He bowed his head as he felt his heart beating hard to the extent where he thought it would burst out of his rib cages. "Do not tell me that you are fine, Ariel. Cause you aren’t. You’re not fine, Ariel. You’re not." His grip on her shoulder tightened and though it hurt a bit, she didn’t flinch.
He probably didn’t know he was hurting her because she couldn’t really feel or react to the pain. It was really mild compared to all she had had to endure.
"Ariel." His voice sounded hoarse and Ariel reached out for his face, lifting them to look at hers and then she saw it. With widened eyes, she saw Raymond’s tears for the first time.
He was crying because of her.
"Sir Raymond, you..."
"I’m sorry, Ariel. I’m sorry that you had to go through all this because of me." He took her hand from his face and pressed his lips on it. "I’m sorry that I couldn’t do anything to help you." Ariel hugged him and dropped his head down her shoulder. There was a big height difference but she didn’t mind. If anything, he would be the one inconvenienced.
"Sir Raymond, you’re here right now." She said, "You’re here to save me and that’s all that matters."
"But..."
"Let’s talk about that later, Sir Raymond. They might come back any moment." Ariel said, immediately shifting the topic.
Raymond raised his head and looked her in the eye and then he looked at her bruised cheek. He touched it. It was red and hot, meaning she just got hit before he walked in. His eyebrows furrowed.
"I will kill those bastards." He growled.
"Let’s first find a way to get out of here in one piece." Ariel said and once again, she asked him, "You’re not here alone, right?"
"Don’t worry, I’m not alone." He said, smiling warmly at her. And then his face twisted as he remembered the fact that she had to endure for this long because of White.
"Sir Raymond." Ariel called out. "Please, let’s get out of here."
The desperation in her eyes told him just how much she wanted to get away from this hell and he nodded.
"Ariel... Kan du stadig huske, hvordan man taler dansk?" He asked in Danish and Ariel tilted her head. Why all of a sudden? She nodded.
"Ja." She responded and he nodded in relief.
One way to get out of there was to use a language the twins were not familiar with, if ever they came across them.
How Ariel learnt Danish? It was a long time ago.
There was this girl at her high school who was from Denmark and she was treated like an outcast.
Ariel felt that there was a little relative relationship between them and since they were the only outcasts in the class, they became friends.
In order to converse better and in a way others wouldn’t understand, she learnt Danish. Her friend taught her and she also found a lot of it in the school library.
Though Ariel wasn’t very good with her classmates and most of her teachers, she was a smart girl. Book smart to be exact. She could easily grasp things, but her chances of studying further were very low so she did not invest herself into reading like others did.
Ariel learnt Danish to understand her friend more better and also relate more with her but her friend did not last. She unfortunately died from excessive bullying.
Raymond got to find out she knew Danish when she cussed out in Danish one day.
"For helvede!"
It wasn’t a common language for anyone to just pick up and learn so for her to know it, he was extremely surprised. But it was funny how she said it so he laughed at the time and she shrunk in embarrassment.
And because of Ariel, Raymond learnt Danish. Though he wasn’t as good as her, he knew the basics and a few things that would help out in case of an emergency.
"Ariel." He called out and brushed her face lightly with his thumbs. "We’re going to go out through that window and downstairs, there’s likely going to be a lot of guards. We’ll try to hide from them and even if they find us, they won’t carelessly shoot at us unless they really want us dead."
Ariel nodded.
"Are you ready?" He asked her and without hesitation, she nodded. "Okay. Let’s go."
He grabbed her hand and moved towards the window. He looked down. There were guards being mobilized in preparation for ’him’ that was still on the road. According to their false information source.
But unfortunately for them, he had already found his way into the house and had met the damsel.
He observed their movements carefully and once the path was clearing up, he turned to Ariel.
"We’ll go down now. Are you ready?"
"Yes."
Ariel looked fearless and was ready to do anything just to get out of here but he was scared. He was scared for her and their escape.
Raymond picked up the big bed sheet and planned to use it as a parachute to soften their landing on the ground.
"Hold on to me." He said and jumped down with Ariel clutching on to his body like a koala on a tree branch.
The guards had changed positions and they wouldn’t be able to spot him if they quickly landed in the maze bushes.
Luckily, the plan worked and fortunately for them, the moment they left the room and landed in the maze bushes, Theo opened Ariel’s room door.
If they were a moment too late, they would’ve been discovered by him.
Theo discovered that Ariel wasn’t inside her room. His face contorted and he went to check the bathroom but she wasn’t there.
She wasn’t at the dinner table either and the guards claimed not to have seen her. He immediately concluded that Raymond had come to take her ahead of time and thus, he alerted everyone to immediately search for her.
NOTE: "For helvede!" This means "Dammit"
"Ja." This means "Yes"
"Ariel... Kan du stadig huske, hvordan man taler dansk?" This means "Ariel... Do you still remember how to speak Danish?"
