I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 211: I am sad
On that note, Maxwell was the one who seemed to have discovered Ariel and drew their attention to her so they went ahead to investigate it.
Thinking about it, Maxwell had done a lot of harm but at the same time, he had been a huge help so when he said he wasn’t planning to have a child, Paige felt a bit hurt and thought of she said she wanted one, he would change his mind but he didn’t and he also didn’t state his reasons either.
For him to stand so firmly to his own word, it must only mean it was serious to that extent and so she agreed.
"So, when do I get my reward?" Maxwell asked and Paige shook her head, seeing the lust that was overflowing from his eyes.
"How about we get home first?" She suggested but he didn’t let go and said,
"Then, what are we eating for? Let’s go home now since we have nothing else to do." He grinned and Paige sighed.
This guy...
"Alright but I have to make sure Romeo is okay staying here." She said while ruffling his hair and he let go.
He seemed to mellow down after hearing her call the name ’Romeo’. He was Paige’s son. Paige’s flesh and blood but he couldn’t really bring himself to look at him with the same affection he looked at Paige and he made sure to make his thoughts known so he wouldn’t unknowingly hurt Paige.
She didn’t take it well at first but she managed to understand him and came to a decision that Romeo would stay with Raymond. Steve was mostly there so he could see his son and she could drop by from time to time to see him.
It was hard but it was better to have it that way and not hurt anyone than to starve Maxwell of affection. God knows what he would do if he eventually got fed up with the starved affection.
Since Romeo was mostly with his father and never really missed his mother because she visited frequently, he was not starved of affection and was very fine.
He actually enjoyed sticking close to Raymond better since he thought he was very cool and the day he found Raymond drinking lightly while thinking of his life, he was stunned.
"Are you sad?" He had boldly asked and Raymond stared at him with falling eyes. He couldn’t look straight and the little boy standing in front of him seemed to have been an appearance of his younger self asking him why he was throwing his entire life away?
He looked away and drank the rest of his glass before beaconing Romeo forward.
Romeo briskly walked towards him and said,
"I am sad." He answered and dropped his hand on his head. "I am sad but it doesn’t mean I’m weak, does it?" He asked with a smile, one that was so sad that Romeo wanted to cry for him.
"Please, don’t be too sad." He said and reached out his little hand to graze Raymond’s face. "It’ll be fine soon."
At that moment, Paige walked in and carried him. She silently glanced at Raymond who kept his head down and she wondered what they had been talking about.
"You should drink less." She simply said and walked away.
"Romeo."Paige called and Romeo looked up with Rachael. They had been playing with crayons on a white cardboard and she felt bad for interrupting them.
"Mummy." He called and got up.
Alexa also looked at Paige.
"I know you need to rest so I’ll get the kids out of here, okay?" She said and though Alexa did not see it as a big deal, she nodded.
"Mummy, I’ll leave you to rest." Rachael said in a little considerate voice and Alexa nodded with a smile.
She felt so weak that she didn’t know how she was going to take care of Rachael on her own in her condition. She was so glad Paige was doing this.
She felt hollow inside and it also hurt so she tried to move less but even that was uncomfortable. She mostly stayed in a rested position since the bed frame was adjustable and the moment she woke up, she’d find the bed completely stretched.
Steve said it would take at least a month for the pain to subside. Not completely but it would free her when she made little movements and she wouldn’t feel so hollow anymore.
"Alright, dear." Alexa said and Rachael went closer to get her goodbye kiss before leaving.
Alexa lightly brushed her hair off her forehead and planted a soft kiss on it.
Rachael smiled happily and followed Paige and Romeo out.
Once they were gone, Alexa closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Paige took the kids to Raymond’s mansion and from there, followed Maxwell to their lover’s nest.
A few days went by and on the day before Ultio’s anniversary, Alexa got an unexpected visitor.
"Who did you say is here to see me?" Alexa asked and Steve answered,
"I believe her name is Jane." He said and Alexa’s eyes widened. What was Babe doing here? "Raymond said she was a friend of yours but we don’t know if she can be completely trusted so we have a few guards watching her in the lounge."
Alexa was silent. A protocol like that was natural but she was surprised why Jane hadn’t freaked out yet. Well, if she did, the guards might just unwillingly harm her so she was smart there.
"Please, can you bring her here? I promise she can be trusted." Alexa said and Steve nodded.
They would have the guards around so even if she wanted to try something, they wouldn’t let her.
"Is Aunty Jane coming here?" Rachael asked and Alexa nodded.
"Do you miss her?" She asked and Rachael turned to the building blocks little red in the kiddies mat spread out for them.
"I can’t say I really miss her but sometimes I miss that she can be a little dramatic and I also hated it." she chuckled and kept building her blocks.
"Who’s Aunty Jane?" Romeo asked and Rachael answered with a little smile,
"She’s mummy’s friend."
A few minutes later, the door opened and Jane walked into the ward with tears in her eyes.
She had heard everything from Steve on their way here so she was feeling very touched that Raymond Stein would go so far for her.
"Oh my baby, you’ve suffered so much." Jane said, pulling Rachael into a tight embrace.
Romeo watched as Rachael demonstrated what she meant by her being too dramatic.
"I miss you too Aunty Jane." Rachael said, nonchalantly and this made Jane even more emotional. She sniffed.
"Mph, what have you been through?"
"Um, I believe I’m the one who got my lungs removed." Alexa said, lightly raising her hand to her shoulder level but Jane simply have her an uninterested sneer and said,
"If only that brain of yours was removed as well and replaced with a brand new one." Her remark was harsh but she meant it.
Alexa was not a good judge of character and that was why she spent five entire years with a menace like Serena.
"Ugh, I knew she was a witch but it’s too much. Just look at what she put you through." Jane complained while finally looking at Alexa’s condition.
She bit down on her lip as she looked in pity.
"I’m fine now, though. I’m recovering well."
"Of course you’re recovering well. You’re in Raymond Stein’s facility afterall."
"Is it that well known?" Alexa asked and Jane’s eyes twitched.
"Even till now, you’re still so oblivious." She shook her head and tsked. "Well, you’re in good hands so I don’t need to worry too much but still..." she folded her arms. "She needs to be punished."
"I believe Raymond is already on it." Alexa mindlessly said, stunning Jane.
"He’s doing what?" She got closer to Alexa and grabbed her hand. "You need to fill me in on the details. How did this happen?"
"Are you asking how I got hurt? Well..." Jane immediately cut her short.
"I’m not asking for those boring details. I’m asking how you two got so close? How did you spark the chemistry? Was it after you went to the amusement park? I haven’t heard from you since then so I thought you got your happily ever after and forgot about me."
Jane’s mouth kept rushing like an overflowing stream and Alexa awkwardly looked towards Steve at the door and Rachael who was shaking he read in dismay.
"Jane, calm down. There is no chemistry as you think." Alexa said but Jane wouldn’t hear of it.
"Come on, spill it to your girl. If there was no single chemistry, will you tell me he did this for you because he was thinking of Rachael alone? I’m not that dumb and you too, you shouldn’t be an entire fool to believe that." Jane pressed and Steve cleared his throat from the side, catching her attention.
"I believe your words will stress Miss Alexa too much. Can you refrain from pressuring her as she is still recovering?" He requested and Jane immediately let go.
She smiled awkwardly and scratched the back of her hair.
"Ops, I almost forgot. My bad." She said and Alexa shook her head, getting all that out of her head.
"Jane, how did you get here?"
