I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 212: Mummy’s great came over
"Jane, how did you get here?" Alexa asked and Jane finally took a seat.
"Well, it’s a vacant week so I decided I’d come see you since I couldn’t contact you for a while now." Jane explained.
"Exactly. You couldn’t contact me so how did you get here?" Alexa pressed on calmly.
"Come on, that’s why I said you’re too dense. Everyone knows Raymond Stein’s mansion address but to access it is a problem." She said and suddenly went off course. "He’s got a lot of mansions, you know. I almost studied all of them but then decided to check your office."
"Why check my office?" Alexa asked, tilting her head to the side.
"I needed to get his contact, duh." Jane said and Alexa’s eyes widened. She did what? "Anyway, I got through to his secretary and then to him. He didn’t want to agree but he heard how concerned I was and went ahead to give me the address of his facility." She swiped her hair back in pride in a bit dramatic way.
Alexa honestly couldn’t understand what she was feeling like.
"Anyway, I guess he called Mr. Doc over there and then I stayed in the lounge for over an hour in a strict session of questions and answers." She said and suddenly giggled. "Oh my God, Mr Stein takes really good care of you for him to go through that trouble just to make sure I was not a threat."
She stood up and drew her face closer to Alexa’s once again.
"So tell me, how do you make me believe that there is no chemistry between you two? What man would go so far for a woman he doesn’t have an ounce of feelings for? Huh?"
Alexa was silent. She pushed Jane down softly and she took her seat again.
"First, relax. You’ve got too much adrenaline flowing through you." She said and suddenly realized something. "Jane, how much coffee have you had today?"
"I don’t know, seven.." she darted her eyes aside and added, "...teen."
"Jane!" She scolded and Jane laughed anxiously.
"Sorry, I just needed to calm my nerves."
Alexa shook her head in disappointment.
Jane had a bad addiction to coffee. Be it Americano, latte, cappuccino... She was addicted to drinking more than one and it was not healthy.
True that it calms her nerves but it was dangerous.
"At least I didn’t order just one type this time."
"It’s the same thing. That doesn’t help matters at all." Alexa shook her head and leaned back.
"Sowwy." Jane softly muttered like a puppy with its ears down.
Alexa looked at her and sighed. She was a bigger baby than Rachael when it came to being scolded. She tried all she could to at least get her to reduce her caffeine intake but none of it worked.
It was like trying to get a smoker to quit smoking. Her addiction was practically the same thing as she was finding it hard to abstain even for a moment.
That was going to be a problem... especially if she were to get pregnant. There were high risks that she would lose her baby because of her addiction.
"Can we just get back to the topic? You can scold me later." Jane said but could not dare to look Alexa in the eye. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Did Raymond Stein really give you the address to this facility?" Alexa asked and Jane looked up, wondering why Alexa was still in doubt even after she had said it.
Well, it was understandable. She was so dense that she wouldn’t know if he was doing it for her while secretly covering it up with Rachael’s name.
"Look, I came because I was worried and I’ll be going back next week so why don’t you start by telling me everything that has happened so far." She said in a mature tone. "I’m here for you, okay? I won’t leave your side."
"Romeo, Rachael." Paige called as she opened the door. "It’s time to get your clothes tested."
"Clothes?" Jane’s ears perked up and she turned around.
Paige looked at the new face and then at Alexa, as well as everyone in the room.
"What’s going on here?" She asked and Rachael stood to her feet.
"Mummy’s friend came over." She said and grabbed Paige’s hand. "Let’s go Aunty."
She looked like she was trying to get her out of there and avoid something but before they could get out, Jane had already gotten to her feet.
"You said try out clothes, right? I’ll come with. I’ll help Rachael to the best of my abilities." Her eyes twinkled as she said this and Rachael silently shook her head in dismay.
Paige didn’t understand what was going on but seeing the vigor in Jane’s eyes, she felt she might just be excited and let her tag along.
Plus, the fact that she was there in the ward with Steve and the rest showed that she wasn’t a threat.
"Do you like clothes?" She asked and Jane nodded furiously.
"Yes." She said and Paige chuckled.
"You’re pretty gullible. Do you own a clothing shop?" She asked but Jane shook her head.
"Nah, I’m a surgeon." She answered, which took Paige by surprise. This gullible thing was a surgeon like Steve?
She shifted her gaze to Steve who adjusted his glasses in affirmation and then at Alexa who nodded.
It was quite a surprise.
"You don’t look like your profession at all." She bluntly said and Jane rubbed the back of her neck with a bright smile.
"I get that a lot." She said,
"Fine, let’s go."
They were about to leave when Alexa said,
"I thought you wanted to hear what happened from me. Who said they’d be with me no matter what?" She reminded her and Jane smiled awkwardly.
"Well, we still have time. We... we can talk about it later." She waved and made her way out of there.
Alexa stared at the empty door and muttered.
"Traitor."
Steve approached her and said,
"Your friend’s personality seems to be the opposite of yours." He took a seat next to her and she smiled.
"Of course. As they say, opposites attract."
