I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 190: It was rather a mystery
Paige stood at a corner with a flute in her hand. She looked inside to see her reflection in the rippled waves of the champagne in her flute.
She pursed her lips and looked up.
She had dressed simple but even with that alone, she looked overly glamorous and was attracting unwanted flies.
A guy suddenly started approaching her but she shunned him before he could even get to her.
"Just keep walking and don’t even think of stopping in front of me." She said with her eyes closed and sipped from her flute.
The guy walked away without stopping while feeling embarrassed.
"Hah." She sighed and decided to just leave.
Everyone was making connections but she couldn’t do that. After all, the only person she was interested in affiliating with was a blonde hair flirt.
Thomas Fengar. He was from France and his family had such a huge organization that she didn’t mind having connections with them but he was not worth her time.
She watched him flirt with the girls who surrounded him and shook her head. He was definitely not worth it.
Her brother too was no good. He was entertaining those girls who gathered him like leeches.
"Tsk." She clicked her tongue and dropped her flute on the table, making her way outside.
At the back of the building was a colorful fountain. As its water sprang like dancing ballerinas, they sparkled with the colorful lights.
It was a beautiful sight.
She folded her arms and rubbed them. Looking at the fountain, she smiled and walked closer to sit on the bench.
"Hey there." She suddenly heard a familiar voice and she turned around to see Maxwell.
Unlike his biker outfit she saw him on each time they met, he was wearing a black tux. He had a bow tie and was fairly looking like a gentleman.
"Were you following me?" She asked him but he shook his head and put his hands in his pocket.
"I wish I was." He said and smiled, "But I’ve been standing by the tree the whole time. You just didn’t notice me."
"Oh." She exclaimed and looked behind him. There was really a tree but the shade would’ve never let her notice his presence.
She looked at him. He had that confident smile filled with hidden intentions.
"Then, is there a reason you’re approaching me now?" She asked him.
"Let’s just say," he took a step closer to her and looked up at the sky. "...since I couldn’t see your eyes with the sunrise, I wanted to see them under her moonlight." He said and took another step towards her.
Paige couldn’t tell what was in his mind. She looked up at the sky. The moon was full and combined with the beautiful dancing water fountain, anyone would say this was a romantic moment but what was between them was far from romantic.
It was rather a mystery.
"Tell me, have we met before?" Paige asked him as he got closer.
Without hesitation, he reached his hand out to her and swished her hair back, allowing him full view of her face under the moonlight. Her eyes sparkled with the moon reflecting brilliantly on them.
"It’s perfect." He muttered.
Stuck in the moment, Paige stared into his face as well. His smile, there was something about it. As much as they looked sinister, they also looked quite genuine.
It was like he could portray his intentions through his smile. Yet she couldn’t still tell what was in his mind.
"Have we met before?" She asked again but made sure to make it clearer, "Before we came to this school, have we met before?"
"You really don’t remember?" He asked, tracing his fingers down her face.
"If I did, I wouldn’t ask, would I?" She asked in return.
"I guess not." He said, closed his eyes and opened them. "We met... a long time ago and then, I made you a promise. I promised to fulfill the first desire you told me when we were all grown up and I was stronger."
Paige was still confused. She wanted to know when exactly that was.
"You..." her words were interrupted when someone approached from behind.
They both looked back to see a guy. He was that guy that wanted to approach her in the hall but got turned down before he could even ask.
"Ah." He exclaimed, looking at them like he had seen an amusement piece. "So that’s why you always act so high and mighty. You feel you’re too good for anyone but you secretly hook up with guys with pretty faces, don’t you? Haha." He laughed. "Everyone has to know about this. I’m going to get back at you for embarrassing me in the hall."
Paige looked at him with a dead glare and he flinched but it wasn’t her eyes that made him flinch. But it was rather the man standing behind him who held a murderous gaze at him.
For some reason, he felt scared and decided to run but before he could even take a step away, a guard had stepped behind him and taken him down.
"My, my." Maxwell said. "You shouldn’t go around spreading rumors when you don’t know what’s going on."
Paige looked up at him. He held that glare again. That same glare he had when he looked down at a guilty prey.
What was he going to do with this guy now?
"Will you get rid of him?" She asked, more calmly than one could think.
"I’m just going to make sure he shuts his mouth. Maybe cutting his tongue will suffice." He said and her eyebrows twitched.
"What?"
He laughed.
"I’m joking. I wouldn’t go that far. Plus," he looked up at the guy. "He hasn’t committed the crime yet. Once he does, his punishment will be decided then. Right now, I’m just going to send him off with a warning."
He slightly tilted his head and his guard punched the guy in the face, sending him unconscious.
"Really, why go so far?" she asked. "I just can’t understand."
"Oh, dear," he swiped her hair away. "I would go to even greater lengths. With what you did for me, this is nothing." He grinned and took her hand. "You can rest easy, I will never let anything disturb you."
He kissed her hand and walked away.
Paige stayed still for a while and suddenly blushed. What was wrong with her? Was this the kind of thing she liked? Someone who had this sort of temperament and thinking.
He was a bit of a psycho but... she couldn’t really be bothered. It was all for her benefit.
"Williams." Paige called and out of the shadows, her own guard came out. More like her aide. "I need information on Williams. As much and as detailed as possible."
"Yes, young mistress." He bowed and went back into the shadows. "Maxwell." She muttered and looked at her hand that he had kissed. He was such a mystery. A dangerous mystery.
