I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 168: How did she know his shirt size?
By the time they got to the amusement park, it was already three in the afternoon. It wasn’t too late but the company of four felt out of it as they had just woken up from a sleep that was never planned.
"Did you sleep well?" Alexa asked Raymond with a bit of groggy eyes and he nodded.
"Very." He answered which brought her delight and then she turned to Rachael.
"What about you, Rachael? Did you sleep well?"
"I did mummy, but not in feeling too tired." She complained.
"Well, it can’t be helped." Alexa said, giggling a little and looked down at Romeo who was still rubbing his eyes. ’This won’t do. The kids aren’t in good shape right now. Maybe a quick bath would do. And I’ll wash my face while I’m at it.’
She turned to see Raymond looking in the distance.
"Mr Stein." She called and Raymond turned to her.
"We’re outside. Please address me casually." He said and she nodded, remembering the last time she suggested that but ended up calling him a name his late wife used to call him.
"Then, Raymond should be fine, right?" She asked and he nodded. "Alright, Raymond."
His name coming from someone very similar to Ariel was like a beat in his chest. He had to stop feeling like this.
"Anyway, I wanted to say that before going to the park, the kids need a bath." She said, "And you, you need to change out of that."
Raymond understood why she said the kids needed a bath but what was wrong with what he was wearing? He looked down at his outfit. It was the cheapest suit he owned.
"Should I have gone for something less expensive?" He wondered out loud but Alexa shook her head.
"More or less isn’t the issue here. It’s what you’re wearing on a whole." She said and turned to the driver. "Please can you take us to the nearest clothing shop?"
"There’s no need for that. You can simply tell me what will be fine and I’ll have my assistant pick it up." He said nonchalantly and Alexa could only imagine how much overload he was putting on his poor assistant.
He was already skipping work as of late so his assistant must be exhausted taking care of everything while he was gone. She shook her head. That wouldn’t do.
"I don’t need to get clothes for you alone." She said and looked down at the kids. "After taking a cool bath, they’ll need to change clothes. I doubt you had that arranged."
Raymond cleared his throat. His mind didn’t go there at all.
"Very well."
The nearest clothing shop wasn’t very far. It wasn’t a high end boutique like where Raymond Stein got his clothes but it was okay.
"Stay here, I’ll be back." Alexa said and shut the door before hurrying into the shop.
She looked through the clothes rack for kids, picked three pairs of clothing for Romeo and Rachael. It was fun picking out clothes for the kids.
Then, she picked out hers and then it was time for Raymond’s.
"What size of shirt are you looking for?" The attendant asked and she looked up, confidently calling the size she never thought she knew.
"A size thirty six medium large shirt, please." She said with a warm smile and then she realized it. How did she know Raymond’s shirt size? She had never seen it, she had never even asked about it either. Or did she ask and forgot about it?
Suddenly, she got hit by the headache and held her head. This was bad, she didn’t carry her pills with her.
"Are you okay?" The attendant asked, seeing her complexion suddenly turn pale but she managed to smile.
"Uh, Yes." She said, "Could... Could you show me where the washroom is?"
"Right over there." She pointed at the extreme end and Alexa lightly shoved the clothes in her arms.
"Help me park this up. I... I’ll be back soon." she said and made her way to the restroom. Her head was acting really bad and she didn’t know how to calm it down.
She washed her face with water several times and took in deep breaths. She had to be okay. She just had to be.
After a few minutes, her head finally started calming down. Her body was drenched with her own sweat. It seemed the kids wouldn’t be the only ones to take a bath once they got to the villa Raymond arranged.
She walked out of the restroom, only to find Raymond at the cashier with the attendants and girls present swooning over him. He looked like he was paying for the things she got.
Raymond noticed Alexa walking towards him. Her face looked fresh like it had been thoroughly washed. There were parts of her hair that were wet and he could only conclude that she washed her face. But then there was her drenched shirt. Why did she sweat so much?
That wouldn’t serve well. What if her shirt becomes transparent with her sweat and her scars start showing. She would be utterly terrified.
He started approaching and she asked,
"Why did you come out? I was..." her words were interrupted as Raymond took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulder.
"You’ll catch a cold." He said, "And you were gone for too long that I had to check it myself."
Alexa was stunned. Why did he give her his jacket? She wondered about this but still clutched on to it.
"What about the kids? Where are they?"
"Over here, mummy." Rachael raised her hand as she yelled from behind.
Alexa saw them standing close to the souvenir racks.
"Why did you bring them out? Now we might never leave here." She said and sighed wearily. "They could’ve stayed with the driver?"
Raymond was silent. To let them stay alone with the driver was something he could never do. He had been too traumatized about leaving someone so precious to him with the driver back then that he couldn’t afford to do that a second time.
"It’s fine." Raymond said and turned to look at the kids. "They’re safer where I can see them."
Alexa looked at his smile which held traces of sadness. It seemed he was scared of making a mistake. She lowered her head. What sort of mistake was it to make him look like that? Her heart hurt for him.
