I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 169: I almost forgot you were my psychologist
Contrary to Alexa’s worry, the kids did not take long at the souvenir rack. They got what they liked and went back to the car without complaining.
It seemed like Raymond told them that they wouldn’t waste time there when they were leaving the car and so they took only what was important and were super obedient.
It would be good if the kids could remain tamed like that. Then, she would have nothing to worry about.
The villa was next to the beach and Alexa finally understood why he said they wouldn’t return that day, for real this time. It wouldn’t be the amusement park taking their time but the beach.
"Do you like the beach?" Alexa heard Romeo ask Rachael and to which she shook her head.
"I don’t know. I’ve never been to one before." She said, "But I do like playing with water so maybe I’ll like it."
Alexa watched them both go in and turned to Raymond.
"Why didn’t you tell me there would be a beach?" She asked him.
"What’s wrong?" He asked, not seeing the reason for her worry. "Is it bad to have Rachael stay next to the beach?"
"Not that. I couldn’t pick out beach clothes in preparation for this." She said and Raymond laughed. So that was what she was worried about.
"You don’t have to worry. When coming back from the amusement park, you can pick out clothes for the beach." He said, subconsciously patted her head and walked in.
Alexa stood still for a moment. Raymond just patted her head. Why did he pat her head? And why... Did it feel comforting?
No, she shook her head. She has to snap out of any delusion that was filling her head.
At the villa, there were a few maids who took it upon themselves to make Raymond’s guests feel at home.
"I’m done." Rachael yelled as she came out in her newly bought fun dress. At the same time, Romeo came out and said,
"Me too. Let’s go."
Raymond was also done changing so all that was left was to wait for Alexa. She came down with a floral dress. It wasn’t her usual style but it was okay.
She also had a short jean jacket on. Probably covering up the upper part of her back that was filled with scars.
"I guess I’m the last one. Let’s go already."
The time was already 5pm but since the amusement park would stay open till 10pm, the kids were free to play as much as they wanted.
They bought some snacks, watched the kids ride toy cars, attacking each other in the process of course. Everything was a competition with the both of them. And then, they rode the carousel.
They looked so happy and Rachael’s smile beamed bright.
Alexa took pictures with the mini camera she got in the way and smiled. Then, she turned and looked at Raymond who was watching the scene quite intently.
He looked like he was observing for research purposes.
Raymond’s thoughts as he watched the scene was that these were things he didn’t do as a kid. The things he couldn’t do, rather. And he didn’t get to do them with Ariel either. It was as if there were a lot of moments stolen from him.
Alexa nudged him a bit and he looked down at her.
"What’s on your mind?" She asked him. "I’ve been observing you, like I should. And I’ve noticed your mind wanders a lot. Are you sure you’re having fun?"
"I am." He said. "I just started thinking."
"There you go. Don’t think." She said to him, "You shouldn’t liken these times to your childhood or any moment for that matter. You should live in this, experience the thrill and happiness it gives you. Don’t go regretting and lamenting in your mind how happiness got robbed before your very eyes."
"How did you...?"
"It’s what you were thinking about, wasn’t it?" She snapped her fingers. "You need to stop that. Stop thinking and just have fun."
Speechless, Raymond looked forward and smiled.
"I almost forgot you were my psychologist." He said and turned to look at her. "Don’t worry, I’m having fun. Really."
"Okay, it’s time to move on to the next point. Watching the kids have fun isn’t enough. You have to join in the fun now." She said, confusing Raymond.
"What?"
She grabbed his hand and moved towards the ticket booth.
"Excuse me, we need to get on as well." She said and grinned at Raymond who was still trying to understand her plan.
"Just wait a while, once this set ends, it’ll be your turn." The guy at the booth said and she smiled.
"Great."
"What are you planning?" Raymond asked her and she snickered.
"We’re going to ride the carousel." She said,
Raymond was stunned. She wanted him to ride the carousel? He looked up at it. There were only kids on it and maybe a few grown-ups but he couldn’t imagine himself riding it at this age.
The horses on the carousel slowed down and finally stopped.
"Mummy, mummy." Rachael called out as the attendants helped them down.
"Baby, how was it?"
"It was very exciting." Rachael said land got into her mother’s embrace.
"Do you want to go again?" Alexa asked and Romeo ran up to her.
"Can we? Can we?"
"Well," she eyed Raymond at the side. "It depends on this gentleman over here. If he says he doesn’t want to get on then I guess we’ll have to move on to another ride." She said and got up, folding her arms at him. "So what do you say, Mr Stein? Would you rather we go to the next ride or let the kids repeat the ride they love so much?"
Raymond was placed in a tight spot. The kids were looking at him with eager eyes and he knew he couldn’t break their hearts.
"Won’t you ride with us?" Rachael asked with a little voice that managed to be heard even in such a crowded place.
"Alright." Raymond gave in and sighed. "Let’s ride the carousel together."
"Yay!" she cheered and grabbed his hand firmly. "Come on."
Raymond looked at Alexa, wondering how he got himself in this mess and Alexa giggled.
Romeo held her hand and also led her.
They all got on the carousel and though as embarrassing as it was, Raymond was able to see them smiling up close. All of them. And it actually brought more warmth to his heart.
