Chapter 170: There’s something I wanted to hear from you

In the distance, a mysterious person held up his camera and took pictures of them. He took a few shots and smirked.

At the end of the day, they decided to ride the ferris wheel. Yeah, this ride was best saved for when the day had grown fully dark.

All four of them in the booth, the kids had their eyes outside. Everyone and everything looked small. The lights were also pretty.

"Mummy, mummy." Rachael called.

"Yes, dear?"

"We’ll we be able to reach the clouds?" She asked but Alexa shook her head.

"Not that high." She said, to Rachael’s disappointment. "But, if you close your eyes, and imagine it to be so, you’ll feel like you’re up in the clouds."

"Really? Can I dance on the clouds?"

"Go ahead and try it." She edged them on and they both sat still, closing their eyes in hopes that they would reach the clouds in their imagination.

Alexa watched them and smiled. They were kids after all.

She looked towards Raymond. He had his eyes outside the booth as well.

"How do you feel?" She asked him with a small voice, not wanting to interrupt the kids.

"What do you mean?"

"Does your heart feel so much lighter?" She asked him and he looked away from her. He bowed his head and then nodded.

"I guess so." He said and raised his head. "I felt more happiness. I felt the smiles reach deep into my soul. It made my heart feel light." He touched his chest and smiled. "Thank you for letting me feel this happiness once more. Thank you for allowing me to experience taking my ’family’ out."

Alexa’s eyes widened but then she smiled. She knew what he was talking about and was glad she was able to be of help. She felt proud.

"You’re welcome." She said,

Someone who had his heart broken in a thousand pieces and grinded as well... she was happy she was able to give that sort of person happiness once more.

"You really look like her." She heard Raymond mutter and she smiled.

"I do, don’t I?"

Before she knew it, Raymond had already reached his hand to her and was helping her slide her hair behind her ear.

"There’s something I wanted to hear from you. I’m asking this, not because I’m someone who became over delusional with the death of his wife but because of everything I’ve seen so far."

His words were a bit concerning. She didn’t know what he was going to ask but with the way he sounded, it seems it was something important.

She looked at the kids.

"Don’t worry, they’re asleep." He said and truly, they had fallen asleep, resting their heads on the other with their mouths opened. So much for dancing on the clouds. She laughed.

No, this was no time to be laughing. She turned to Raymond.

"What is it?" She asked him.

"Five years ago... you said your memories started from five years ago. You also discovered you were pregnant then too. You have these scars on your body. You never met your husband, you never met anyone from the past either..."

Alexa pursed her lips as she listened to him. What was he implying?

"Don’t you think there are too many coincidences?" He asked her.

"What coincidence?"

"After the explosion, I never found Ariel’s body." He said and she felt goosebumps filing her entire body. "I believed she was dead because there was no way to escape such an explosion and she was strapped with the bomb."

Suddenly, Alexa started feeling her head hurt. What was going on?

"Please, stop for a moment." She said while clutching her head. Her breathing got hard but she kept her voice in check, not wanting to wake the kids and make them worry.

"Does your heart hurt?" He asked her.

"What? How did you...?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Steve found out that you’ve been taking headache pills." He said and she nodded. "It’s been five years, hasn’t it?"

"Actually four years. I started taking the pills four years ago but.. ugh." She bit her lip. "How does that relate to what you’re talking about?"

"Those headache pills," he began. "They actually induce memory loss. You can’t remember anything from your past and have these headaches because of the pills."

Alexa held her head. The pain was becoming unbearable. Serena! How did she have such a person as a sister? She was a monster. Why would she do that to her?

"Alexa, breathe." Raymond said to her and though she was already trying this, it was me working. Her head felt like it was going to burst open. "Breathe, Alexa."

Alexa tried it more. She took in deep breaths but that didn’t stop the headache. She just wished she could smash it on the wall and stop the pain.

"Ugh." She grunted, biting harder on her lip, tearing it in the process.

"Hey." Raymond grabbed her hand. "You’re hurting yourself."

"Don’t worry, it’ll ... It’ll stop soon." He watched her as she suffered the pain of this headache. He didn’t like it and ended up bringing out his arm for her to bite.

She took the opportunity and bit his arm. Though she tried not to bite too hard, she couldn’t control it. It was better than screaming out in pain and scaring the kids.

A few minutes later, the headache went down and she let go of Raymond’s arm. She saw he was bleeding and gasped.

"I’m so sorry." She quickly apologized.

"Don’t worry about it." He said and slid her hair aside. "Are you okay now?"

"Yeah, I guess so." She said and touched her head.

Her entire body was soaked with sweat. Now he knew why she was sweating so much after coming from the restroom.

"Raymond." She called. "Thank you."

Raymond wanted to continue what he was saying before her headache attack but decided against it. What if she got another headache attack because of his words?

Now, he was certain of one thing and he would find it out himself instead of hurting her.

After the booth got back to the floor, they carried the kids and went straight to the car.

"Are you okay?" Raymond asked her as she sat in the car.

"Yeah. I’ll just take a bath once I get back and go to bed." She said but it didn’t take long before she joined the kids in their sleep. She must’ve been extremely exhausted from the pain.

Now, Raymond looked at his arm. Instead of giving her his cloth to bite on, he gave her his arm. What was he thinking at the time?

Well actually, he wasn’t thinking at all.
