Chapter 117: I already sent her home

Raymond took Ariel to the car while the guards helped White to another car, Steve accompanying them as well.

"I’ll meet you in the house." Raymond said to Ariel as he shut the door.

"You’re not coming with me?" She asked and he shook his head. "Please come with me."

"I’m sorry but I have to stay here and calmly dismiss the guests. Plus, I don’t believe Leo came here on his own." He said and Ariel nodded. She was a bit reluctant to part with him and so was he.

But he worried for her and the baby so much that he thought it was best to send them away first.

"Come back soon." She said and he kissed her forehead.

"Yeah." He was about to leave but she held his hand. Really, she felt uneasy about the whole thing.

"Ray, I love you." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"I love you too, honey." She let go and he walked away.

The driver started the car and drove the car out of there. A little later, Ariel started feeling sleepy so she decided to just close her eyes for a while.

As soon as she closed her eyes and fell asleep, the driver’s lips curled up into a menacing grin.

At the party, Raymond succeeded in calming the guests. They were all people with high places in the country so to be in a place where their safety was in jeopardy, they needed answers.

"Hey, where’s Ariel?" Paige asked.

"I sent her home." Raymond answered.

"That’s good. This atmosphere is not conducive for a pregnant lady." She said and Raymond turned to her, surprised. "What? You think I wouldn’t know? Steve told me the moment you left his office."

"You two... "

"Don’t even go there." She shook her head. "I have a fiance." She said,

"Right." He nodded, having recalled this bit of information. Then he checked his watch. "In about an hour, it’ll be the new year. We looked towards it so much." He smiled in a sad way. "And I wanted to be with her when the clock strikes 12 but it seems I won’t be able to."

"Why not? Everything’s settled here, all you need to do is head home right this moment and you’ll catch up." She said, "It’s not too late."

"Hm, maybe I will." He said and just then, Skylar hurried towards them with someone dragging his feet behind him.

"Where’s Ariel?" He asked, charging towards them.

"I already sent her home." Raymond answered.

"With who? Did you send anyone with her?" He asked, gripping Raymond’s shoulder tightly and Raymond’s eyebrows furrowed.

"I put her in Gerald’s care."

"Um, boss." The guy behind Skylar called and Raymond’s eyes widened.

"Gerald, you...What are you doing here? Where’s Ariel?"

"That’s the thing. I... I went out for a stroll and suddenly got hit in the head and when I woke up, my clothes were stolen. After finding something to cover up with, I went to the car only to discover it... it was gone."

"What do you mean? I put Ariel in that car with you." Raymond’s blood was already rising and anxiety kicked in. "If she’s not with you then where is she?"

"I wasn’t the one in the car, boss." Gerald said and Raymond’s heart sunk deep into his stomach. This was a joke, right?

He quickly took out his phone to call Ariel. The air was getting really tense as they waited for Ariel to pick up but there was no response.

He tried again and this time, the call was answered but it wasn’t by Ariel. The voice he heard was none other than...

"Took you long enough to notice." Theo said with a smug way and Raymond clenched his fists.

"Theo." He said and everyone’s eyes widened. "Where’s Ariel?"

"Sleeping beauty is still asleep. Should I wake her up?"

"Don’t you dare lay a finger on her." He threatened, his fists trembling as his eyes turned red in furry.

"What? What do you think you can do? You’ve lost, Raymond. You will never see her again." Theo said and laughed maniacally.

"Where are you taking her?"

"Like I’d tell you but with a kind heart, let me just give you a hint. I am taking her to hell with me. I’m tired of living in this screwed world anyway so screw you, screw that old fox and screw the world." He laughed and cut the call.

Raymond’s hand trembled violently. He needed to find her. He needed to find Ariel.

He immediately dashed towards the elevator. He was heading straight for the control room to find out which direction Theo took Ariel.

Ariel finally regained herself and found herself in a very dangerous situation. She was in a room that was barely lit and her body was tied to a chair

Her eyes grew in horror. How did she get there? Was this a nightmare? Please, let it be a nightmare.

"You’re finally awake." She heard Theo’s voice and her pupils shook in fright. No, this had to be a nightmare. "What? Are you finding it hard to believe you’re in this mess?"

He got closer and grabbed her chin.

"You better believe it because this is the end for you and me." He said and let go.

"You... you kidnapped me?" Ariel was in serious disbelief. Why, on this happy day, was this happening?

"Is that new to you?" He asked her. "This isn’t the first time. Or are you so shocked because you just got married?" He laughed. "Truly comical, don’t you think? This happy day will end in disaster."

"Crazy. You’re crazy. Evil, wicked." She yelled and then he hit her. "Monster." She added and her lips slowly bled.

"I didn’t want to hit you but you talk too much." He said. "Tonight, you’re really pretty." He drew close and whispered in her ear. "So pretty that I want to rip you out of that dress and take you but there’s no time for that." He drew back. "If we delay and lose track of time, they might just find us before the bomb goes off and that would be a disaster on my part."

Ariel watched him walk away with horrified eyes. Bomb? Did he say bomb?

Her gaze instinctively went down to her leg and her eyes widened. There really was a bomb. Theo... he was really crazy.

And then she looked at her belly tightly wrapped with the rope. This baby, it had to come out into the world. She couldn’t die there. What could she do to protect her child? Her sweet innocent child in her womb.

Theo returned with a clock and placed it on the table in front of her.

"Now it’s 11:33. Once it’s 12, you, I, as well as this abandoned building will blow to bits and Raymond will fall into despair." He announced and laughed.

"That’s crazy. You can’t do this." Ariel yelled at him and he got annoyed. He took a tape and sealed her mouth.

"There. Just stay quiet and die in peace." He smiled and tears slowly started rolling down her eyes. "Awn, do you feel sad? Don’t worry, I will accompany you all the way." He said and hugged her. "Let’s go to hell together."
