Chapter 113: Of course, I’d like to have a child with you

Steve’s office door opened and he looked up to see a peculiar couple walking in. Only one was walking though, the other was working as a carrier.

Raymond was carrying Ariel in his arms because she felt too lazy to walk.

"So who’s the patient this time?" Steve asked with glazed eyes.

The rate at which they were dropping by at the center was annoyingly frequent and it was all for minor circumstances like a finger cut or a slight headache. Raymond was the one taking Ariel there, of course so he didn’t blame her. But he was exaggerating things too much.

It was almost like the center had become ’first-aid’.

"Ariel doesn’t have an appetite to eat." Raymond said as he dropped her on the chair.

"Uh-huh. She’s holding two bags of chips and eating them so carefreely and you say she doesn’t have an appetite?" He asked with a tone filled with disbelief.

"It’s true." Ariel said. "I haven’t been eating well and on our way here, I suddenly started craving these snacks."

Steve’s pen fell on the table and he leaned forward.

"Wait, did you say you started ’craving’ chips after not having an appetite for a while?" He asked and she nodded.

"And the seamstress also said I’m adding weight. Don’t know how that’s possible though. I hardly eat."

Steve’s glasses lost their balance on his nose and he quickly adjusted them before they fell.

"Ahem. This might be a false assumption but I believe..." His eyes trailed from one to another and he gulped. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Such an assumption, wasn’t it best to leave it till a proper test was conducted?

"This is actually big so brace yourselves." He said, adjusting the rim of his glasses. "I believe Miss Ariel is pregnant."

Ariel’s chips fell off her hand in shock and Raymond, who was equally shocked, almost lost his balance.

"What... What are you saying?" Ariel asked. "I... I’m pregnant?"

"Yes, that’s what I believe. Though we cannot do the test right now to find out if you’re really pregnant and how long you’ve been pregnant, I can run a scan for you to see if there’s really a fetus in your belly."

"Please do." Ariel eagerly accepted. "Run the scan."

Raymond never thought he would hear that so soon. Yes, he planned a family with Ariel. A happy family but he never actually visualized the part of them having kids. It was so new to him, so sudden.

Even Ariel had never thought that far. Her getting pregnant again definitely didn’t cross her mind. A child that would look just like Raymond... It would be a boy, right?

Subconsciously, she touched her belly. A child. She was having Raymond’s baby.

"Hey." Steve snapped his fingers in front of Raymond. "Snap out of it. I know it’s surprising but you should pay attention here."

"How... How did this happen?" Raymond asked and Ariel flinched.

She looked back at him and Steve gave him a weird look.

"How do you think it happened? You guys probably got high on pleasure and didn’t use protection, am I right?" He asked and Raymond stayed silent. "So stop asking such questions that will make Ariel misunderstand. Look, you’re making her feel weird again."

Raymond looked at Ariel, only to see a little anxious expression on her face. His eyes widened.

"That’s not what I meant. Of course I’d like to have a child with you. I was just surprised that it came so soon, that’s all." He said and that assured her. "Of course, I want a child with you." He took her hands and kissed it. "I’m glad to have a child with you."

Ariel nodded.

They carried out the scan and it was confirmed that Ariel was indeed pregnant. From the look of it, the size of the fetus, the pregnancy seemed to be weeks old. Roughly seven weeks. Steve would have to run a test on her to get that information out.

"Is that why I’ve been losing my appetite?" Ariel asked and Steve nodded. "And that’s also why I get unnecessary cravings?" Once again, Steve nodded.

"But it’s all good. That’s all part of the struggle of a pregnant woman. You’re still in your first trimester so I advise you guys to visit the hospital after you return from the honeymoon.

"Including him?" Ariel asked, pointing at Raymond.

"If not, I might lose my job with a little misunderstanding." Steve said, depressingly looking to the side. Handling Raymond when it came to things related to Ariel was very difficult. It seemed he became harder to control after falling in love. What a disaster?

Two days to their wedding and they were finding out Ariel was pregnant. Now, they had to be extremely cautious with everything. And her heels, they definitely had to replace her heels.

Hearing this from Raymond, Ariel burst out laughing.

"I’m sorry." She laughed. "But I think you’re overreacting. My heels aren’t that high and the preparations are already set. Let’s leave it all as it is."

Raymond looked at her a bit worriedly and sighed.

"Alright. But then we’ll have to change the order of the wedding."

D-Day finally arrived and Ariel was adorned like a queen. Her white wedding dress flowed beautifully down to the door. It was originally much longer than that but since Raymond didn’t want Ariel to feel stressed when walking, he asked for it to be shortened.

An additional workload for Madam Nutella but she happily did it after finding out Ariel was really pregnant.

Ariel looked at herself in the body sized mirror in her room. She looked so beautiful... So different and so pure.

Her white flowing wedding dress that had no single blemish was adorned with pearls. It was truly magnificent and was screaming out affluence and wealth. Each pearl was enough to buy a fine piece of land to build a house, know that.

Her scarred back was covered with white lace, extending down to her sleeves. The cut of her neckline was almost a sweetheart but it was sharper like a ’V’ and the net lace covered her front area to her neck.

For her necklace, she wore pearls. Three strings of pearls around her neck at the point where the net lace ended. And underneath her wedding dress was her mother’s necklace. She felt her mother’s presence was there to witness her getting married while she wore the necklace. She held it so dearly that she never actually took it off.

Ariel looked at her finger. It was empty.

Raymond had asked her a question.

"Would you like to wear another ring? Or would you want to wear this ring?" She knew too well what that meant and she nodded her head, not giving a definite answer.

But she took off the ring and gave it to him saying,

"I would like to use this ring as our matrimonial ring." She smiled. "Let’s get married with this."

Ariel smiled softly at the memory. Raymond respected her opinions more than anything and that made her feel even more special. A knock on her door broke her out of her sweet moment and Allison opened the door.

"It’s time."
