I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 114: Do I look so much like my mother?
Raymond opened his room door and adjusted his coat properly before heading down the stairs. He was nervous but tried hard not to show it.
His cold demeanor covered his anxiety and one would think he was unfazed with the fact that he was getting married but he was actually putting up a farce.
Suddenly, a hand came out of nowhere and smacked his back, startling him.
"Hey, lighten up." Steve said. He was the owner of that audacious hand and Raymond glared at him. "Really, you gotta lighten up. You look like you’re going to a funeral and not your wedding."
"Is that so?" He asked but still didn’t change his expression.
Steve shook his head and then looked up only to see something stunning and he exclaimed,
"Angels do exist."
Raymond’s cold and nonchalant expression stayed as it was, unchanging to Steve’s comment. That is, until he looked up to see Ariel descending the stairs. Her radiant appearance immediately softened his expression and his lips curled up in a warm smile.
"Yup, there it is. The smile that belongs to one special, lucky lady." Steve said and also smiled.
Ariel looked so beautiful. She was absolutely breathtaking that words couldn’t accurately compliment her. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
She got down the stairs with Allison and Betty’s help and was handed over to Raymond.
"I’m short of words." Raymond simply said. "And I am ashamed that I cannot find the right words."
"It’s okay. I already know I am perfect in your eyes." She said and smiled, he smiled back and it looked like they were going to kiss but Steve immediately broke their little moment by clearing his throat.
"Let’s leave that till after the vows, don’t you think?"
Ariel chuckled.
"Wow, it seems we’re just in time." Paige said and marveled at her sister’s gorgeous appearance. "You are truly... I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say but trust me, you look more than great." She hugged her. "As your psychologist, I’d say you are doing extremely well."
"Thank you. Where’s Skylar?"
"He’s parking the car just outside." Paige answered and just then, Skylar walked in.
For a moment, he froze and blinked his eyes. Her appearance... Now she looked just like their aunt and he was so close to tears.
"Hey, pull yourself together. I see it too." Paige said to him.
A little onto them and a little confused, Ariel asked,
"Do I look so much like my mother?" They both stared at her and gave her a silent nod. "By any chance, can I see what she looked like? I never got to see her." Such a solemn smile on her face. It seemed she was gradually getting sad emotions but it wasn’t a bad thing to ask.
She deserved to know what her mother looked like, especially on such a special day as this.
"I snapped this from our family house." Paige said, showing the picture on her phone.
In the phone was a heart whelming picture of a free spirited girl smiling brightly with all her teeth on display. She had long black wavy hair and wore a floral gown.
The uncanny resemblance she had to Ariel was even more heart whelming.
Anyone could tell that such a spirit longed for more than the confinement and protection of her family. She looked like a real helpless romantic, no doubt there.
"Thank you." Ariel thanked them and smiled. She was trying really hard not to cry and ruin her two hours of make-up. "Now I really feel my mom is here to watch me get married."
Raymond dropped his hands on her shoulder and she touched it, feeling his support from behind.
"One more thing." Raymond said and they all suddenly looked up to the direction of the door.
Coming from the door was none other than White, wearing a formal suit. He walked in with his gaze down, as he felt ashamed to be in front of anyone after spending all that time in prison.
His hair had grown quite a bit so it was tied backwards and thus helped them see clearly, the haggard face that had gone through months in isolation.
"What the hell? Why is he here?" Paige asked, with deep annoyance.
"I asked for it." Ariel said and they all turned to her. She asked for it? What was she thinking?
White raised his gaze and looked up at Ariel who was almost unrecognizable. She was the complete definition of an angel. She looked so beautiful and so kind and... Before he knew it, his eyes had grown teary.
The time he spent alone in jail, he reflected on his actions properly. Even if he did love Raymond, it was not right for him to inflict harm in the one who he had chosen. The one who made him smile.
Even without Ariel’s existence in his life, there was no way Raymond would look at him in that way. His dirty desires made him blind and he did things the wrong way.
Ariel had been so good to him and yet he had the heart to do that to her, knowing the hell she would face. He claimed he hated the Stein’s offsprings because of what they did to him yet he went ahead to do that same thing. He was no different from them. He was no different from a monster.
They didn’t bring him out to give him back his freedom but on this day, this very special day, it would only seem fair if he was allowed to witness it. At some point, he was still a very valuable part of their lives.
After everything, he would return back to his prison and maybe spend the rest of his life in isolation.
White slowly went on his knees and bowed his head. There were no words said but his actions spoke far louder than any word from him.
"Hmph!" Paige folded her arms in displeasure. She was not in support of this. "I’ll be keeping my eyes on you."
She turned to Ariel and said,
"Come on, it’s almost time and if we delay any further, you’re going to be late." She said and Ariel nodded.
"Then?"
Raymond hooked his arms and Ariel held him. They all started heading for the door and walked past the kneeling White.
Steve tapped his shoulder and made him get up before going to the car.
Steve and Raymond sat in the same car, as well as White who sat next to the driver. While Paige and Skylar sat with Ariel in the other car.
The cars drove gently towards the church and when they arrived, the wedding officially began.
