"The sector is called the Shattered Sector," Boro continued. "Our scouts report that a large number of vimodial contractors have moved in. They've already killed the squads we sent. If we leave this place unguarded, they'll make it their base. From there, they can strike deeper into other empire military sectors. They're not just passing through. They're settling."

Kailen observed quietly. He was studying the jagged terrain, the map—crumbling cliffs and scorched fields which highlighted past conflicts.

"This will be a solo mission," Boro said. "Your track record speaks for itself. We don't need to send reinforcements. The Frontlines are stretched thin, and this kind of situation, you are the perfect operative for this kind of mission."

Kailen nodded in understanding.

Boro added, "You get in, neutralize the contractors, and make sure this sector doesn't become a staging ground for a full-scale attack. Report to HQ via com for permanent reinforcements as soon as your work there is done. You depart effective immediately."

Kailen nodded. "Sir."

After that, he left the room.

Boro watched the retreating back of the young man.

After Kailen left, a flicker of emotion appeared in his eyes. His eyes had an expression of someone recalling someone's appearance.

Currently, he was in his spaceship, which floated in the void of space, staring at the Shattered Sector from afar, out of the satellite range of the planet.

Kailen's elemental mirroring, his perception, and shadow sense could scan the planet and give him details he desired. It was not on an entirely large level he would require his shadow hounds and other shadow creatures to manually scout it for him.

These guys were really tactical.

"So far, I have not noticed any vimodial contractor above the rank 2 intermediate stage galactic level. But very soon, some of them will be arriving. From the information I've managed to obtain from my scan, some of them will be arriving in 3 month's time," Kailen thought.

"There are no advantageous terrains I can use to set traps for them when they arrive. Which means I need to get rid of any vimodial contractor at the sector as soon as possible and report to HQ so that reinforcements can be sent here for permanent stabilisation of the sector. With that, my mission will be complete before those vimodial contractors arrive and it will be the work of the reinforcements to take it from there.
