Chapter 79: Connecting the dots...

"Say what now?!" Sandra almost fell off the chair.

"This is really happening..." Alex muttered.

"Yes," Audrey replied.

This was really happening.

It seemed like Elena was impatient and desperate to get rid of her. But Audrey was glad her sister still hadn’t found out she possessed her powers in this world too, she would have outrightly declared a war against her, Audrey wasn’t ready for such problems now.

She desperately hoped the Moon goddess would do some kind of miracle and lead her to the other half of the amulet, when she finally unlocked her powers to their potential, she’d be more than ready to go to war with the dark witches.

"You’re wrong, Audrey," Lawrence whispered, but it was more like to himself.

But Audrey still heard him.

He slowly looked at Audrey apprehensively, he wasn’t so sure what to think about her anymore.

Earlier, he had thought he’d made a human friend, although her fighting skills left him shocked, he had only thought it was because she’s been practicing hard, but now, he finds out she’s a witch. A fucking witch! And not just her, his lovely cousin seems to be a witch too... A dark one.

He sighed, disheartened and scared.

"I am?" Audrey asked, tilting her head to the side and regarding Lawrence’s feature for a while.

"Yes," Lawrence replied firmly.

He knew his cousin better than anyone else in that room, and he would not sit and watch someone abracadabra their way into their lives and mess it up with lies.

"I’ve known Maya since we were kids, she’s not a witch," Lawrence said.

He stood from the sofa and bent over to lift Maya in his arms. He was taking her out of there, In case Audrey had cast a spell on her, it would diffuse once he took her far away from Audrey.

"She’ll kill you when she wakes up," Audrey said calmly, pausing Lawrence who was almost lifting Maya off the sofa.

"What do you mean," Lawrence slowly faced Audrey and her friends.

"Sit, and let me explain everything to you," Audrey told him.

Lawrence was about to sit when a knock sounded at the door. Sandra quickly stood to go get the door, but Lawrence gently grabbed her arm.

Sandra almost fell over from the sudden buzz of electricity she felt in her body, she quickly turned around to see Lawrence’s strong fingers wrapped around her slender arm.

She slowly lifted her face to him, staring deeply into his oceanic eyes.

"I’ll get it," Lawrence said gently.

"Pfft! Already did," Audrey said, standing beside the door with Maria who had a mischievous look on her face.

"That was hot, right?" Maria whispered, knowing fully well that everyone in the room was a werewolf.

"I almost melted," Audrey used her hand to fan her face.

"Stop it, you two," Sandra quickly removed her arm from Lawrence’s hand, and walked back to her stool, hiding her furiously blushed cheeks with her hair.

Lawrence chuckled and went back to his seat. Cute.

"Quite a show," Alex whispered, smirking.

"Don’t even start, I saw you staring at-"

"Ah, Maria, come sit, I’ll get an extra chair from my room," Alex quickly said, covering up what Sandra was about to say which would have exposed him.

"Aww, thanks, darling," Maria walked over and sat down on the chair.

"By the way, who invited you?" Audrey asked, narrowing her eyes at her cousin.

"She," Maria pointed at Sandra, "She said to come over ASAP because you got some hot gist, and you know me, I couldn’t miss out," Maria flashed Audrey a dashing smile.

Audrey turned her face to Sandra who was smiling guiltily at her.

"Sorry, I thought you would want her here," Sandra apologized.

"Dumb kid, I’m not angry. I’m glad you did. Saved me the stress of telling her the whole story all over again in detail," Audrey smiled.

"Kill...her..." Maya whispered sluggishly, her voice sounding like it was mixed with someone else’s.

"Mummy!" Maria screamed, holding onto Alex’s arm.

"Let go, scary cat," Alex snatched his hand away from her.

"Oh? Who’s that?" Maria asked, fully noticing the girl who was sleeping on the sofa.

"A dark witch," Audrey provided, going back to her seat.

"A what now? And what is she doing here?! But... I don’t feel her powers..." Maria was confused.

"Because she doesn’t even know she has them," Audrey replied.

"Wait, she doesn’t realize she’s a dark witch? How’s that possible?" Maria’s face kept showing her increasing confusion.

"Well, she does know she could read people’s minds, involuntary sometimes, and she hears some kind of voice in her head asking her to do some villain-related stuff. Apart from that, she’s completely clueless about her origin," Audrey explained to her cousin.

"Okay... Tell us what you know then," Maria said, interested.

"Her mother is Elena," Audrey said.

"No fucking way. Elena? As in your reincarnated sister?" Maria asked, shocked.

"Yes," Audrey replied.

"Reincarnated?" Lawrence asked.

At this point, he didn’t know how to react anymore, this had to be the craziest group of friends he’d ever made. His mate was one of them too.

"Mm. I’m reincarnated too," Audrey said honestly.

That was it. Lawrence decided that this was a group of lunatics who escaped the asylum, it’s just unfortunate the Moon goddess gave him a lunatic as a mate too. He couldn’t run away from that one.

"I see..." Lawrence replied, carefully regarding the group of people in the room with apprehension.

"I know she’s your cousin because you believe your mother’s younger sister, Eve, is her mother, right?" Audrey asked.

Lawrence looked at her in shock, "Yes, how did you know that?" Lawrence sat up on the sofa, bracing himself for more surprises.

"I just happened to be the strongest witch alive," Audrey said with a chuckle.

"You’re kidding me, right?" Lawrence asked.

"Nope," Alex, Maria, and, Sandra answered at once.

"Right, no shit," Lawrence bit his lips, nodding his head in understanding.

There was no escaping this time. He’s really met one-of-a-kind of a people.

"Eve is not her real mother. Elena gave her off to your aunt because she sensed no power in her when she gave birth to her. She made your sister believe she’s the mother by casting a spell on her," Audrey explained.

"But, Eve has a picture of her when she was pregnant with Maya, are you saying they exchanged babies?" Lawrence asked skeptically.

Audrey shook her head, "Well, technically, yes. The baby died."

"Eve was unconscious after birth, Elena went in, hypnotized the nurses, and exchanged the babies. She took your real cousin..." Audrey said bluntly.

"Took a dead baby? Why?" Lawrence asked incredulously.

"Yes, dead. But a werewolf baby. Witches have a way of extracting powers from other creatures and mutating them into their genes to enhance their abilities," Audrey explained.

"Sick," Alex said.

"So sick," Lawrence agreed.

"So, you wouldn’t want me to go into details on how she did that, right?" Audrey smirked.

"No, please don’t," Lawrence looked like he was ready to puke in the next second.

"So, that’s why, Eve has no memory of what happened after her delivery. Even the nurses couldn’t tell that something was off," Lawrence said, his tone carrying a hint of anger.

He was angry at that witch called Elena. He already hated her so much without seeing her. But this didn’t make him love Maya any less, to him, she would always remain his dear cousin.

"Exactly," Audrey nodded.

"Maya’s reacting this way to me because witches always have a strong soul-to-soul connection with their offspring no matter how far they are from each other," Audrey walked over to Maya and stared at her sleeping face, now that she thought of it, Maya did look like the youthful Elena.

"And when they feel any energy that threatens them or their child or any energy at all which they don’t like, they tend to manipulate their offspring into destroying the source of that energy, by any means possible," Audrey saw Maya muttering something, and passed a hand over her forehead, calming her down immediately.

"So..." Sandra asked, getting an idea of what Audrey was getting at.

"So, Elena felt my energy, and naturally, she felt threatened. That’s why I had to put her out for now because she was starting to get murderous. Elena wasn’t going to let her be until she was worn out," Audrey walked over to the kitchen to get another glass of water.

"Wait!" Maria sprang up from the chair, startling everyone.

"Does this mean she’s found out about your powers? She’s sensed your energy and she would feel it when you cast a sleeping spell on Maya," Maria freaked out, walking back and forth.

Audrey chuckled, walking back to the living room with her glass of water.

"You underestimate my powers, cousin. When I said energy, I meant my aura," Audrey came and stood at the center of her friends.

"Everyone has an aura to them, humans or magical creatures are alike in that aspect, and she’s seen me once at Alpha Lake’s company when she came to see him, she definitely took in my aura from then and it’s not different from what it used to be in my previous life," Audrey walked over to Maria and tapped her shoulder in reassurance.

"She’ll think it’s her daughter’s inability to use her powers that hindered her from reaching me," Audrey smirked.

"That’s a relief. But, why did she go to see Alpha Lake at the company... Are they aquaitances?" Maria asked.

"Exactly my thought," Alex said.

"Oh, she came with Malachi, as his secretary," Audrey shrugged.

"Wait, Malachi, as in Alpha Malachi?" Lawrence asked cautiously.

"Yes, why?" Audrey asked, dreading the answer she was about to hear.

"He’s my uncle," Lawrence said, frowning.
