Chapter 80: An unexpected trip

It’s been two days since Audrey discovered that Malachi was Lawrence’s uncle, and how coincidental could it get with Elena also being Maya’s mother?

She didn’t know why, but apart from the fact that she saw those ugly visions about Malachi when she had first touched Adeline for the first time at the bar, she didn’t just like him. Everything about him was so wrong.

No wonder he worked perfectly with her sister. Birds of the same feather sure flocked together.

Audrey suddenly wondered what was wrong with Alpha Lake during dinner, he didn’t look at her for once and didn’t talk to her either.

He’s been acting cold toward her from the time they left the river. She couldn’t think of why he was acting weird. Was he disappointed because he couldn’t figure her out?

Whatever. It was best for her that he was avoiding her, she wished he would keep up with the act till the full moon was over. Saves her some full-moon drama.

The next morning, Audrey was surprised to hear a knock so early on her door, causing her to sluggishly wake up from her sleeping. She thought Alpha Lake was done with his tantrums and was here to make peace, but once her senses woke with her, she realized that the scent behind the door didn’t belong to him, but to Ms. Bridget.

She had planned to sleep in that morning since she knew Alpha Lake wouldn’t be needing her beside him anytime soon till he was done sulking; it made her wonder why Ms. Bridget would be knocking on her door by 4: a.m. in the morning.

She reluctantly got out of bed and went to open the door.

"Morning, Mama," Audrey greeted as she put the back of her hand over her mouth in a wide yawn.

"Morning, child. I know it’s too early, but he needs you in front of the Packhouse in ten minutes," Ms. Bridget said, looking piteously at Audrey.

She did pity her. From the day she had taken her from Luna Aurora’s hand to hand, she knew that Audrey had never had a fulfilled day in her life. It’s always been from one problem to another. She wished the dear moon goddess would end all of Audrey’s mysteries with this coming full moon.

She would love to see her fulfilled and happy for once in her life.

"Ten minutes! But why?" Audrey leaned one hand on the door beside her head, stretching her body sideways.

Ms. Bridget smiled, "He didn’t say, but he sure looked gloomy this early morning, so, I suggest you better get going before he gets touchy," Ms. Bridget said, patting Audrey’s cheek.

"Uhg, fine. Thanks, Mama," Audrey sighed and closed the door as Ms. Bridget started walking down the stairs.

As she dressed up, she kept wondering why he needed her so early and where he was going so early too.

Well, she was about to find out.

She buttoned her denim dungarees over the body-hug white long-sleeve crop top. She paired it up with a black baseball cap and a pair of white Nikes.

She picked up her phone from the bed and quickly left her room, jogging down the stairs.

She walked out of the Packhouse to see the Alpha’s Lake’s car already parked and waiting.

She walked over to it pulled open the back door and entered.

She was met with a brooding Alpha, a smiling Henry, and an expressionless Philip. Her curiosity got higher. Where the hell were they off to this morning?

Anytime she got paired up with this duo, she always faced dangerous situations.

"Good morning, Alpha," Audrey said in a quiet tone.

Alpha Lake only looked at her for a second and removed his eyes without responding to her.

"Drive, Henry," He ordered in a cold voice.

"Yes, Alpha," Henry replied.

"Morning, Ms. Catherine," Henry greeted as drove the car away from the Packhouse, looking at Audrey with a smile from the front mirror.

"Morning, Ms. Catherine," Philip said in his deep voice.

"Morning, Henry, Philip. Do you guys know where we’re going?" Of course, they did, but what better way could she have asked about it? Since the Alpha had chosen to suddenly go mute whenever he saw her.

"Um, the Alpha will tell you. We’re not allowed to, sorry," Henry gave her an apologetic smile.

Audrey sighed. She expected that, what a petty man.

She saw how Alpha Lake took out his phone and locked his attention on it, silently telling her that he wasn’t accessible yet.

Audrey sighed quietly and leaned onto the chair, turning to her side to face the window, taking her time to watch the early morning view.

She had forgotten that this Pack was such a beautiful place because of the way she had been treated while living here before.

But now, she enjoyed the beautiful calming scenery of the Grey Blood Pack, the beautiful trees and well-designed houses looked so therapeutic with the early sunrise. She stared out the window till they drove out of the Pack border.

She quickly sat up, getting the attention of the Alpha who now starring at her with curiosity as to why she was suddenly looking tensed.

Audrey didn’t see Alpha Lake looking at her, she was only focused on the road as the car kept heading in the exact direction that Andrew had dropped off her dying body a year plus ago.

She had also come to discover that magical creatures like werewolves could locate their secret coven if they had the patience to walk to the end of the huge forest.

Audrey thought that Alpha Lake might have discovered the witches and was going to make trouble with them, maybe that’s why no one could tell her where they were heading.

As the car sped in that direction, Audrey tried to look for something to say to cause Henry to stop the car, but the car passed that area before she could come up with a reasonable thing to say.

Audrey sighed and slumped back onto the chair, she almost got a heart attack. What if they were really going there? Miranda would definitely think she’s betrayed them instead of protecting them. Not just Miranda would think that way, but all other witches too.

Alpha Lake stared at her, noticing the sudden look of relief wash over her features, he wondered what her problem was. Why was she looking like someone who was about to be discovered for doing something evil? Why was she acting funny?

He looked back to see the place wher her sight bad been fixed all those while and wondered why she was so busy staring at the forest.

He narrowed his eyes at her suspiciously, then faced away from her.

Why was he bordered by her acts? He had decided to let her be, whatever she did was none of his business. He was done trying to solve the mysteries surrounding her.

"Hey, can we stop over for a snack, I’m so hungry," Audrey asked Henry as they approached a mini-mart along the road.

Henry looked at Alpha Lake through the front mirror, silently asking for his permission.

Alpha Lake subtly nodded his head, agreeing to her request.

The car came to a stop in front of the mini-mart and Audrey was about to get down from it when Alpha Lake suddenly grabbed her hand.

"What?" Audrey asked, looking back at him.

Why was he touching her now? Thought they were on a silent war?

"Philip will get it," Alpha Lake said.

He didn’t want her to go in there herself, it looked dangerous. It was the only mini-mart along the lonely road, rogues or thieves could troop in any time. Even though she was strong, he didn’t want her putting herself in that kind of risk.

At least, he didn’t hate her, even if they didn’t end up together, he would never put her in danger’s way.

Audrey raised her brow and tilted her head to the side in suspicion. Why Couldn’t she go in herself? What was wrong with this dude?

She sighed and removed her hand from his.

"Ok then. Indomie," Audrey said.

"What was that, Ms. Catherine?" Philip asked. Confusion written all over his face.

It was obvious he wasn’t a fan.

"Mi Goreng hot and spicy noodles. Say it that way, they’ll understand," Audrey explained.

"Yes, Lu-Ms. Catherine," Philip said and quickly got out of the car before Audrey chewed him out for the slip of tongue.

Alpha Lake stared at Audrey as she bent over her Laps with chopsticks, stuffing her face with hot piping noodles.

"You want some?" Audrey asked when she noticed Alpha Lake staring at her while she ate.

He simply removed his face from her side and faced the window, ignoring her.

But he could still hear her slurping her noodles. He found it cute, but at the moment, he wasn’t going say to her.

After an hour drive, Henry’s voice was heard.

"We’re almost there, Alpha. Should I alert them?" Henry asked.

"Not yet," Alpha Lake replied.

Audrey finished her food and wiped her mouth with a tissue. She looked from Alpha Lake to Henry like they were crazy.

Almost there? How could they be almost there in the middle of nowhere?! Were they planning to assassinate her? 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"Where are we going?" She asked again, and this time, more firmly.

"There," Henry pointed forward.

Audrey looked ahead and saw a gigantic black gate, guarded by up to ten armed men.

"Where is this place?" She asked skeptically.

"What Russell has been dying to know," Alpha Lake replied coldly.
