Chapter 81: The Decoy message

Audrey immediately tried to think; what was the one thing that Mr. Russell had been so particularly about? And when she finally remembered it, her brain clicked.

The secret warehouse!

Finally, she gets to see the main reason why her boss had sent her to the Grey Blood Pack.

She looked at Alpha Lake, seeing the way his countenance had changed, she knew he wasn’t in the best mood to be asked questions now.

Audrey silently watched as Henry took out a small phone and asked someone to open the gates, and immediately, the huge gate smoothly slid open.

Audrey was still cautious, she quietly observed her surroundings. Outside of the gate might seem a little lonely and deserted, apart from the armed men who stood guard at the gate, but inside the compound was the complete opposite. It was very busy in there.

Lights blasted out from the six tall warehouses. Portable light towers were placed all over the six acres of land as the sun hadn’t fully risen in that area. Men were offloading boxes from medium-sized trucks, entering the warehouse with them.

And as the car came to a stop, two huge men came and opened the door for her Alpha Lake.

Audrey came out of the car and noticed the newly tarred grounds, it made her look around, noticing that everything was new, like the place wasn’t over a year old.

She saw three huge trucks drive into the compound from what seemed to be another gate at the far end of the fence.

"Alpha, the supply just came in," A man in a cooperate suit suddenly appeared out of nowhere and informed the Alpha.

"Come," Alpha Lake said to Audrey as he walked away.

Audrey followed him as they walked into one of the warehouses. Inside, Audrey noticed the huge boxes that were stacked up to the ceiling of the tall building, she wondered what type of supplies Alpha Lake needed that kind of boxes for and why he needed troops of security guarding them.

"Watch it," Alpha Lake drew Audrey to his arms as she was lost in her head and didn’t see the two men who were carrying a box towards her path.

"Thank you," Audrey looked up to his face, seeing the worry in his eyes.

Audrey’s heart stopped for a second as she felt the warmth and firm body of the Alpha, and if she was being honest; she missed him. She didn’t know she would be capable of missing him with such intensity, ever since she returned, she had never gone a day without talking to him, even if it was in the form of bickering.

But why was he suddenly giving her the cold shoulder, didn’t he feel the mate bond again?

When Alpha Lake saw that Audrey was alright, he slowly pushed her away from himself, taking his hands off her and regaining his cold composure. He shouldn’t have touched her, now, his heart was beating faster than usual and he felt like drawing her back to his arms to feel the warmth of her skin. He saw the longing look in her eyes but subtly looked away. He wasn’t going to fall for her again, just so she would turn him down again. No.c

Audrey felt hurt as she saw the indifferent look appear on his face again. She straightened herself up and kept walking behind him.

"Hey," Henry walked up to Audrey as they headed towards an elevator.

Audrey turned to him with a raised brow, "Hey?" Audrey replied absent-mindedly, lost in looking at Alpha Lake’s tall and broad figure.

"I don’t mean to be intrusive, but I’m..." Henry paused, debating whether to say what was in his mind or not.

"Just say it, Henry, what is it?" Audrey said casually.

"Well, I think he is-"

"Henry, stairs," Philip said behind them as they reached in front of the elevator.

"Um, I’m sorry, I have to go," Henry scratched the back of his ear and quickly walked away with Philip towards the stairs.

She had a feeling that Philip deliberately interrupted him from saying whatever it was he wanted to say.

As the elevator door opened, she noticed that it was only she and Alpha Lake that were left, the guards had all gone up through the stairs.

She silently followed him inside, keeping her distance by moving away to a corner of the elevator.

The door closed and the lift started moving up, the warehouse was quite tall, so she braced herself in the uncomfortable silence, stealing glances at him now and then and almost getting caught.

Alpha Lake was aware that Audrey was staring at him from time to time, but he forced himself not to look back, even though it almost felt like he was punishing himself, he still persevered.

His wolf was just on standby, waiting for him to submit to Audrey’s charm so he would ravish her just the way he’d been imagining from the first time he saw her.

Audrey sighed in relief as the door finally opened. She wanted to leave after him but she saw that he was waiting for her to leave, instead of staying there and making everything more awkward, she decided to walk out first, feeling the overbearing presence of the Alpha behind her.

She saw Philip and Henry standing in front of a metal door with some other men. She slowly walked over to them.

The men quickly made their way in front of the door to let her and Alpha Lake through.

She watched on with surprise as Alpha Lake unlocked the door with his fingerprint.

Pushing the door open, Alpha Lake stepped aside to let Audrey walk on first, but Audrey seemed not to understand what he meant.

"Enter, Catherine," Alpha Lake said.

Audrey only raised her head to look at him when she heard her name, she was lost in thoughts, thinking about why Alpha Lake was acting funny and why everyone was acting strange here.

"Oh, okay," She replied and walked into the dark room, lights turning on automatically as she stepped into it, revealing a sizeable meeting room with a long glass table and black chairs.

Audrey heard the door close and turned her head to see only Alpha Lake and Philip behind her.

"Get the computer, Philip," Alpha Lake ordered.

"Yes, Alpha," Philip replied and walked into another door inside the room.

"Come here, Catherine," He said in a deep but quiet tone.

He turned towards her when he didn’t hear any response from him, just to find her eyes staring right between his legs.

That single act alone evoked a dangerous desire within him. He was so damn sure he would have had her then and there on that table if Philip wasn’t going to come in any second from then.

Audrey didn’t know what was wrong with her; but the way he had just said her name sounded sexy as hell, it aroused her and made her start imagining erotic scenarios in her head.

Why did he have to be so sexy without even trying?

"Eyes up here, Catherine," Alpha Lake slowly walked up to her, hooked his finger below her chin, and lifted her face to him.

Audrey felt her body shiver as she suddenly felt his strong and long finger on her chin, that’s when she realized the proximity between her and the Alpha, biting her lips as her face was raised to him.

"You’re a temptress, Catherine," He whispered.

He lowered his face dangerously close to hers, their breath mingling. He stared into those forest-green eyes of hers, his wolf pushing forward and his eyes darkening with unrestrained lust.

"What? I’ve had it in my mouth many times before," Audrey’a voice was low and seductive, she stepped closer to him and raised her hand to remove his hand from under her chin, but instead of releasing it, she brought it up to her lips and sucked on his index finger, staring him right in the eyes as she did so.

She smiled seductively when she saw his eyes get darker, his breathing becoming deep and shallow.

"I’m not even allowed to look at it now?" Audrey asked, holding his gaze and lowering her hand between them.

Alpha Lake drew in a sharp breath as he felt Audrey’s hand cover his crotch, he immediately placed his hand over hers, not sure he would be able to hold back if he allowed her to do what she wanted to do.

"Don’t tempt me, Kitten. This time, I wouldn’t stop," He rasped in a needy voice.

Audrey smirked naughtily, happy she still affected him.

"So," She covered the remaining space between them, tiptoed her legs, and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.

"I’m still your kitten?" Audrey whispered beside his ear.

It’s been a whole day since she hasn’t heard him call her his kitten.

He put his arms around her waist, holding her possessively to himself, "I can make you my kitten forever...if you let me," He said, almost pleading.

He knew he said he’d give up on her, but deep down, he knew he was never letting her go. She was his. His mate. His Luna. His wife.

Even if the moon goddess were to take away their mate bond, he’d still choose her, his soul recognized her as his. He could feel it.

it

Audrey felt her knees go weak from the strong emotion she felt from his words and the hopeless expression he had on his face.

"What if I want you to mate me?" Audrey asked in a daze as she got lost in his stormy grey eyes.

"What?!" Alpha Lake growled lowly, dangerously.

His ears must have deceived him and he dared her to say it again.

"I said-"

"Here’s the... Oh! I’m sorry, Alpha, I didn’t realize you were busy," Philip hurriedly apologized and turned to leave.

"No, no, come back. That was nothing, you probably misunderstood," Audrey called him back, her cheeks flushed in embarrassment.

Alpha Lake smirked sexily as he stared at Audrey, an idea suddenly popping into his mind. He wasn’t going to let her denials deter him anymore. He had just discovered how to deal with her.

"Come in, Philip," Alpha Lake commanded and went over to the table and lowered himself onto a chair.

"Um, ahem, here’s the computer, Alpha," Philip cleared his throat as he placed an Apple laptop in front of the Alpha.

"I’ve already tracked Russell, Alpha, it’s just left for Ms. Catherine to send him the decoy message," Philip explained.

Audrey furrowed her brows together.

What decoy message were they talking about?
