Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 74: Please, heal me.
"Heal her," Alpha Lake commanded, staring directly at Maria.
"Can you do it, babe?" Caleb asked.
He knew his mate was a healer but Adeline’s case was quite severe, and he didn’t know if she’d be able to do it.
He read an article that said that Witches tend to lose their strength if they’re forced to use their powers on something too complicated, it could drain them of their strength and some of them never recover from the power drain.
"The damage is quite huge," Audrey added with a shrug.
Everyone turned to her with a look that said they knew she was responsible for the huge damage.
"I was just saying..." Audrey scratched the back of her head, pointing at Adeline’s wolf lying on the bed.
"I don’t think even a witch would be able to cure her immediately," Audrey said seriously.
Alpha Lake turned to Maria, locking his hard gaze on her.
"Heal. Her," He enunciated each word as he commanded Maria.
Maria cleared her throat and stole a glance at Caleb before she focused her look on the wolf.
"Well, I can only heal her in human form," Maria sighed piteously.
The wolf whimpered loudly as it heard what Maria had said.
Changing back to that condition could literally be suicide for an average wolf like her. How was she going to survive?
"Um, babe, it’s going to be hard for her to change..." Caleb whispered to Maria.
Audrey and Alpha Lake were watching the duo, one with a mischievous look and the other with an annoyed look.
"Why?" Maria asked innocently.
She knew fully well that wolves stood a greater chance of risk by changing when injured or pregnant. But where’s the fun if she just healed her and ended everything so quickly?
"Well, you see, Adeline is just an average wolf, and generally, wolves, even the strongest of us, avoid shifting when injured. So, for an average wolf like her, it might be fatal, she might end up losing most of her strength as a wolf, and it’ll take long before she can change to her wolf again," Caleb explained to Maria.
"Ah, I see," Maria nodded.
She sighed and shook her head in pity for Adeline.
"But I think she still needs to change," Maria tapped her chin in thought.
"Are you messing with us?!" Alpha Lake furiously marched towards Maria but Audrey quickly went between them, raising her hands to stop him.
"No, no, no, calm down," Audrey said hurriedly.
Maria reeled back from the angry Alpha, going behind Caleb in defense.
"What she meant was that she can’t heal her in this form because, well, because it..."
"Because it would drain all my strength if I attempted to heal a seriously injured wolf at a go. It’s supposed to be a gradual process, and it’ll consume less of my powers if she changes into a human," Maria hurriedly explained as she saw that Audrey was at a loss at what to say to the Alpha.
"Yes, that’s what I was trying to say," Audrey snapped her fingers together.
Alpha Lake looked from Audrey to Maria for some time before he slowly nodded.
"Leave them, Caleb," Alpha Lake said before walking away.
"I’ll be right out here," Caleb spoke softly to Maria before walking away.
Audrey closed the drapes around Adeline’s bed, covering her from other people in the emergency ward. She knew they were all werewolves and nudity meant nothing to them but she still thought it was proper to give Adeline some privacy.
Even if she doesn’t like her, she wouldn’t stoop so low to her level.
"Okay, so, princess, shift," Maria chirped, clasping her hands together.
Audrey shook her head at Maria as she saw the evil smile on her face. They both knew that there was no such thing as what Maria had previously said to the Alpha.
Witches had no problems healing werewolves in human or animal form. They just wanted Adeline to learn a little lesson so she never dares to cross their path again.
Adeline’s wolf growled throatily, she whimpered for a while as she stared at Maria and Audrey with her lemon-green eyes.
Audrey felt pity for her, she did want to teach Adeline a lesson but she thought just maybe, this was taking it too far.
She looked the wolf up and down then moved her eyes to Maria who was already giving her a knowing look.
"No way! I’m not going easy on her, trust me, if it were you in her shoes, she wouldn’t bat an eye to your pain, and she’ll kill you before you know it," Maria said firmly.
She knew Audrey had started to have a change of heart from the look she was giving the wolf, but she wouldn’t allow it.
Anyone who dared to threaten her had unquestionably threatened the whole coven, and white witches were known for looking out for each other, not to talk of a threat to their first and greatest one.
No! She can’t let it slide.
Audrey sighed, she knew what Maria said was the truth, she slowly nodded her head, giving Maria the go-ahead order.
"I understand," Audrey bit her lips as she nodded.
"Come on, Adeline, let’s get this over with," Maria patted Adeline’s leg.
The wolf blinked its eyes rapidly and its tongue was stuck out, breathing rapidly.
Soon, the wolf let out a very loud and painful howl, followed by the sound of bones cracking and soon, the sound of howling was replaced by a woman’s painful cries.
A naked woman now lay on the bed, bones sticking out her hand and leg and blood dripping with consistency.
"Please, heal me," Adeline begged the moment she shifted, sobbing heavily.
The shifting process was very extreme for her and she already felt like she was going to pass out anytime soon. She didn’t really care if she didn’t get to ever shift again, she just wanted to get her leg and hand healed.
Maria looked at Audrey with a look of surprise. If she could do this in a little challenge, how much damage could she render in a real war?
"This looks bad, look," Maria said to Audrey.
"Yeah, it is," Audrey replied, looking directly into Adeline’s eyes.
Adeline had refused to look at her injury, scared to find out how bad it was, but from the comments the girls were making, she decided to risk it.
"Ahh! Oh my god! No! Please, please! Heal me, please!" Adeline wailed helplessly.
She couldn’t believe that the gory sight she had just seen was her body, it was an eyesore.
"You see, we have to strike a deal, right, Catherine?" Maria asked Audrey.
"Yes, it’s simple, Adeline. Just leave me alone, I’m too busy to keep entertaining your pettiness," Audrey said.
"I promise, I’ll never cross you again, I swear," *sob* "I’ve learned enough of my lesson, please, I’m sorry for everything," *cough* "Please, Catherine, I’m in so much pain," Adeline cried.
Maria rolled her eyes, "You say all these just because you’re in pain, I don’t feel your sincerity," Maria pointed out.
"No, please, I’m truly sorry, I’ve been out of the line from the beginning..." Adeline trailed off to catch her breath as she felt herself running out of breath and her eyes threatened to shut on their own accord.
"Enough, Maria, let’s get this over with," Audrey said as she noticed the changes in Adeline’s features.
"As you command," Maria replied and started to chant in a strange language, hovering her hands over Adeline’s body.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she continued chanting, she freed her mind of all evil thoughts and achieved tranquility of the mind. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Adeline started whimpering, she felt like invisible hands were working inside her body, fussing her loose tendons together.
"Argh!!!!" She let out an alarming scream as she felt the broken bones on her hand and leg painfully fix themselves back from where they had popped out.
Maria slowly brought down her hands, staring at her perfect work with a smile.
Audrey watched as Adeline slowly caught her breath, her cries quietened down too as she breathed heavily.
"Thank you," She faintly thanked Audrey and Maria, raising her hand and watching with wonder as the bones that were sticking out and the dripping blood were nowhere to be seen.
She felt good as new.
"Let’s go," Audrey said to Maria.
"What?!" Maria asked with a raised brow.
She couldn’t believe that was it. No ’I saved you,’ and ’in you your face’ speech?
"Catherine?" Adeline sat up, a sincere look on her face as she called out to Audrey.
"Yeah, you feel sorry now? Want to apologize for all your witchy, no... Bitchy acts?" Maria sneered.
"Cover up, let her be, Maria," Audrey threw a hospital gown at Adeline before she walked out of her corner.
"Trust me, breaking it would be much easier than healing it, be careful," Maria warned seriously before leaving.
"Catherine," Alpha Lake caught Audrey’s arm as she was about leaving the hospital.
"You can go check on her, she’s fine now," Audrey sighed tiredly.
She didn’t want drama right now, it was about time she sat down and really thought about what she needed to do next.
"I want to talk with you," Alpha Lake said softly.
"Me?" Audrey asked unbelievably.
She had thought he would be on his way by now rushing to see how Adeline was doing.
"Yes, can I ask you some honest questions?" He tilted her head up with his index finger, looking right into her forest-green eyes.
In that moment he confirmed that there really was an unidentified aura around her.
