From A Producer To A Global Superstar-Chapter 264: Suprise.
Dayo stood still.
For a few seconds, he genuinely forgot how to move.
The airport noise faded into the background—rolling luggage, distant announcements, footsteps—but his eyes stayed fixed on the group standing in front of him.
It wasn’t just Janet.
It was everyone.
His father stood a little behind, hands in his coat pockets, posture calm and solid like always, like the soldier he was. His mother was beside him, eyes already soft, already emotional, holding her bag with both hands as if grounding herself. His brother leaned casually, wearing that familiar half-smile that always said more than words. And then there were the others, Sharon, his PA, Deborah, her daughter, clustered together, laughing quietly, waiting for his reaction.
Dayo exhaled sharply.
"What...?" was all he managed to say.
Janet laughed and stepped forward. "Surprise."
He looked at her, then at his mother.
"But... I spoke to you yesterday," he said slowly. "You didn’t say anything."
His mother smiled innocently. "Because you didn’t ask."
That did it.
Dayo laughed, a sound caught somewhere between disbelief and joy. He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head.
"You people are unbelievable."
Before he could say anything else, Deborah broke free from Sharon’s side and ran straight at him.
"Brother Dayo!"
Dayo barely had time to brace himself before she jumped into his arms. He caught her easily, lifting her up without effort.
"I missed you," she said immediately, arms tight around his neck.
"I know," Dayo said softly. "I missed you too."
She pulled back just enough to look at him. "You’ve been gone forever."
"It hasn’t been that long."
"Yes, it has," she insisted.
Everyone laughed.
Sharon stepped forward next, smiling warmly. "You look good," she said. "Busy, but good."
"You’re supposed to be resting," Dayo replied. "I gave you time off."
"And you still paid me," Sharon said. "So I rested very well."
He shook his head. "You’re family. That doesn’t change."
His father finally stepped forward.
They didn’t hug immediately. They rarely did. Instead, his father placed a firm hand on Dayo’s shoulder.
"You’re doing well," he said simply.
That meant everything.
His mother couldn’t hold back any longer. She pulled him into a tight embrace.
"I worried," she said quietly. "Even when you say you’re fine."
"I know," Dayo replied. "But I am."
"How would I know if you’re telling the truth eh you’re far away here in Korea eh." She said as her face was masked with worries while rubbing his back softly.
Dayo smiled at this he could understand her for a mother her child would remain a child no matter how old they grew.
"Alright but as you can tell i am doing very fine here so all is good." To which his mother just nodded.
His brother clapped him on the back, then slipped into their familiar handshake.
"You’ve grown," his brother said.
"So have you."
They shared a smile.
Janet watched it all, arms folded, clearly proud of herself.
"You didn’t expect this, did you?" she asked.
"Not even a little," Dayo admitted ruffling her hair to which she just smiled as she love it when Dayo does that.
Deborah quickly came to the side of Dayo to looking at him this made Dayo laugh and he rubbed her hair to.
"So i hopw your mum didn’t stress you while I was gone." Dayo asked.
Deborah pouted cutely and nodded. "She did she always find something to fault in everything I did."
Dayo tapped her hair snd said. "Dont worry i am here nkw she wouldn’t do such now."
Hearing this Deborah lunged at Dayo and puoted towards her mother playfully.
Sharon shook her head with a smile and said. "Dayo you spoil this girl too much."
"Hehe she is mine to spoil."
Watching the whole audile the family laughed after hanging in the report for a while
the logistics came next. since Dayo didn’t know about their coming he didnt prepasre for them well so, he quickly ordered a large taxi service, coordinating cars to take everyone comfortably. As they drove through the city, the family stared out the windows.
"This is Korea?" Deborah asked as this wws her forst tkme traveling outside the country and seeing all the Neon light made everything new ans beautiful
"Yes."
"And you live here?"
"Yes for now."
"And you own a house here?"
Dayo smiled. "Yes."
When they arrived at the mansion, silence followed.
Janet was the first to speak.
"...Wow."
His mother looked around slowly. "You didn’t exaggerate."
"I didn’t say much at all," Dayo replied.
"Man this is crazy." Jeffery sjad as he looked at the house.
Dayo smiled and held him saying. "You have no idea come in and see."
Inside, the house was warm, modern, lived-in but not excessive. The family moved through the space naturally, settling in like they belonged there—because they did.
"You know what?" Dayo said after a moment. "I’ll cook."
Everyone turned to him with a smile after all they knew Dayo is a certified chief and he is good.
"You want to cook for all of us ?" Sharon asked.
"Yes." Dayo smiled waving that it was nothing.
His mother smiled knowingly. "Good it been a while i eat your meal."
To which his father nodded. "Yes and we are tired so cook something for us."
"Yess final brother Dayo is cooking ah I have missed your food." Janet said with a smile the she quickly turned to her mom giving her am apologetic smile.
To which she just shook her head.
Dayo moved into the kitchen with ease. He tied an apron, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work.
He prepared a full meal braised short ribs with soy glaze, garlic rice, sautéed vegetables, and a slow-simmered stew, rich and comforting. The kind of food that didn’t try to impress, but always did.
When they finally sat down together, the mood softened completely.
Deborah ate happily. Sharon chatted with Janet. His parents watched him with quiet pride.
"This," his mother said, "is good."
Dayo smiled. "I’m glad."
For the first time in weeks, the world felt peaceful and warm.
And right where it should be.
