Chapter 265: Family Vist Set

After dinner, the house felt different with their belly full everyone felt energetic.

Everyone leaned back in their seats, plates cleared, the lingering smell of food still in the air. Deborah was the first to break the silence.

"Okay," she said, sitting up straight. "So tell us."

Dayo raised an eyebrow already knowing where this conversation was going. "Tell you what?"

"Everything," Janet added immediately. "The movie. The set. How all of it works."

Sharon chuckled softly. "I was wondering when this would start."

Dayo smiled and shook his head. "You two didn’t even wait five minutes."

Deborah leaned forward, eyes bright. "So when you’re directing, are you the one shouting ’action’?"

"Sometimes," Dayo said. "Sometimes that’s Jang-Wook."

Janet frowned slightly. "Then what do you actually do?"

Dayo thought for a moment. "I make sure everything works. That the story makes sense. That the actors give their best. That the crew isn’t killing themselves over deadlines."

"That sounds stressful," Deborah said.

"It is," he replied honestly.

Janet tilted her head. "But it looks fun."

"The result is fun," Dayo corrected. "The process is... exhausting."

Deborah made a small face. "Hmm. I thought it would be more exciting."

Dayo laughed. "That’s because you only see the finished movie."

They exchanged a look—Janet and Deborah—one of those silent conversations that had hidden meaning but Dayo had known them for long enough to recognize.

He smirked.

"You’re planning something," he said.

They both looked away immediately.

"What?" Janet said innocently.

"Nothing," Deborah added too quickly hiding the panick on her small face not wanting Dayo to find out.

Dayo didn’t push. Instead, his mother spoke.

"Why don’t you take them to the set?" she ask calmly she could already see they wanted it in their eyes.

Everyone turned.

Deborah’s eyes widened. "Really?"

Janet’s mouth dropped open. "We can?"

Dayo looked around. His father didn’t say anything, but his expression said he was curious. Sharon stayed quiet too, which was unusual normally she would remind him about work boundaries.

"You all want to go?" Dayo asked.

The answer was instant.

"Yes!"

They reacted like they’d just won something big—small jumps, clapping, laughter. Dayo watched them, amused.

"Alright," he said finally. "Tomorrow."

They froze.

"Tomorrow?" Deborah repeated.

"Yes," Dayo said. "Not tonight. Tomorrow."

That was enough. They cheered anyway.

Later that night, when the house had settled, Dayo stepped aside and called Jang-Wook.

"Dayo good evening," Jang-Wook said. "How’s the injured guy Dae-Seok?."

"Evening Jang-Wook He’s fine," Dayo replied. "Nothing serious. A week or two he would be ready to return to set."

"That’s a relief," Jahonko said. "So why the call?"

"My family’s in town," Dayo said.

"Oh that’s a suprise." He said suprised.

"Yeah i didnt even know about it until they got to the airport."

"Haha I can already imagine your reaction to this."

"Yeah I was shocked but happy." Dayo smiled.

"Right so what’s the reason for the call ?." Jang-Wook asked.

"Yeah speaking of that its my family they want to visit the set."

There was a brief pause, then a laugh. "Of course they do."

"it happened to you too ?" Dayo asked suprised.

"Yeah the moment they found out I was a director they followed to to check the set the next day, so don’t worry." Jang-Wook said. "I’ll inform everyone."

"Hmm alright goodnight."

****

The next morning came faster than expected.

Dayo was ready early. Everyone else was... not.

"Where are Janet and Deborah?" he asked.

Sharon smiled. "Getting ready."

"They’ve been ’getting ready’ for thirty minutes."

"They’re teenagers," Sharon replied. "This is a big deal."

When they finally came downstairs, Dayo stopped walking.

They looked like they were heading for a fashion shoot hair done, outfits carefully chosen, confidence turned all the way up.

"...Absolutely not," Dayo said.

Janet blinked. "What?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"You’re visiting a film set," he said. "Not the red carpet."

Deborah laughed in a childish way . "Relax."

Dayo was speechless. He sighed, pinched the bridge of his nose, then waved it off. "Fine. Let’s go."

The drive was lively. Questions, laughter, side comments. When they arrived at the set, everything changed.

Cameras. Crew. Equipment everywhere.

Deborah whispered, "Wow."

Jang-Wook spotted Dayo immediately and walked over.

"Welcome," he said warmly.

Dayo introduced him. "Everyone, this is Jang-Wook."

Janwook nodded politely.

Dayo continued, briefly listing a few of Janwook’s films fictional but impressive titles, award-winning projects, industry respect.

Janet’s eyes widened. "Wait—you directed that?"

Janwook laughed lightly. "Yes."

"Oh my God," Deborah said. "I loved that movie."

"You’re too kind," Jang-Wook replied. "Dayo exaggerates. He’s the one doing incredible work here."

Dayo waved it off. "He’s being modest he practically helps me run the whole set without even trying."

"Ah Dayo we both know you’re more better at this than me."

"What do you mean Jang-Wook here has more connection and power in the industry."

Jang-Wook saw that he couldn’t win Dayo and said.

"Fine Fine you win I am better happy now."

The whole family laughed at this seeing that even on set Dayo didn’t change and kept his lively self.

They moved through the set. Dayo explained things simply what each crew member did, how scenes were prepared, how actors rehearsed.

Then they spotted Min-Ji.

Deborah grabbed Janet’s arm. "That’s Min-Ji."

"We know," Janet whispered. "We follow her."

Dayo smiled and led them over.

"Min-Ji," he said. "Meet my family."

Min-Ji smiled warmly. "So these are the famous ones."

"They’re fans," Dayo added.

Minji laughed. "That makes me happy."

Deborah and Janet were glowing almost not leaving Min-Ji side at all they were asking her questions about how it was to be an actor what she loved doing.

Her perfume they were star struck and Min-Ji it smile while entertaining them without much effort but the smile on her face was genius.

Dayo watched them for a moment, then turned slightly.

"Alright," he said clapping.

Everyone looked at him.

"Today works is about to start camera take your stands actors get ready due to yesterday injury Dae-Seok wouldn’t be available so we would take another act so get ready."

Dayo’s voice was loud and audible and like an well oil machine everyone got to work.

Dayo’s family stood behind him awed at this but the proud smile never left their lips.
