Doted by Many: I became the Top-Tier Celebrity!-Chapter 557 - 551: Queen of Coquetry 2
Naomi Kirby’s eyes flickered slightly.
She vaguely remembered the day Mr. Rivers was taken into the detention room.
He never got into trouble, but he was detained by the police. That night there was thunder and lightning, and it rained all night, which made her very uneasy.
Thankfully, it was only for one night, and he came back.
She stepped forward with concern and caught a faint scent of osmanthus from his body—not just floral, but a very unique aroma. She realized, albeit reluctantly, that he must have held another woman.
Still, she gathered the courage to confess to him after waiting for so many years, having gathered enough courage, no factor could stop her.
But before she could voice her confession, he spoke first.
She remembered his distant expression, like he was looking out the window or at the bathtub ahead, his eyes were cold and his voice was light, as if he was unintentionally confiding in someone.
"Naomi, do you have someone you like?"
"Yes."
He asked, "What does it feel like to love someone?"
"Every day I want to see him, be with him, even just talking makes me happy. I’m affected by his mood swings; I’m happy when he’s happy, and I’m unhappy when he’s not. There’s a place in my heart always filled with this person, recalling every little detail unknowingly. I think that’s what it’s like to love someone."
He withdrew his gaze and lowered his head, she didn’t know what he was looking at.
It was only through his gaze that she noticed he was missing a button on his pristine white shirt. Aiden Shaw, usually in impeccably pressed shirts and suits, had creases in his shirt, like marks left by someone grabbing it.
Adding to that was the woman’s scent clinging to him. She gathered that on the stormy night, he had been with a woman.
"Mr. Rivers, I have something to tell you."
Aiden Shaw lifted his gaze to her, cold yet with a touch of warmth, and said softly, "Naomi, do you remember something I once told you?"
"Yes."
He told her that he wouldn’t like her, that working by his side didn’t mean giving her an opportunity, hoping she wouldn’t turn their superior-subordinate relationship into that of strangers.
The words hidden in her heart were unsaid in the end. Looking at his somewhat wrinkled shirt, she asked, "Mr. Rivers, do you have a girl you like?"
He was silent for a moment, seemingly pondering something, his almond eyes slightly narrowed and his voice holding a perplexity she had never heard before: "I suppose."
His uncertainty did not escape her; as a woman in love with him for many years, his ability to utter those three words meant he had developed different emotions for that girl.
Love is a strange thing. Some people strive for years and can never stand shoulder to shoulder with him, while others inadvertently, in a moment, can find their way into his heart, perhaps needing no more than a minute, just a few seconds.
Since he had a girl he liked, her own words had to remain unspoken; their superior-subordinate relationship would suffice.
The fragrance that lingered just now, that familiar scent, confirmed it. The girl who captured Mr. Rivers’ heart that night was Tiana Thorne.
He had someone he liked, no longer so unreachable or untouchable by worldly matters. It’s a good thing, perhaps now he wouldn’t be so lonely.
At that moment, a small assistant’s voice pulled her back to reality: "Naomi, Secretary Kirby from Apex Group is here to trouble Mr. Rivers again."
Naomi had dealt with too many such disturbances under the guise of business affairs, her brow not even twitching as she replied, "Close the door, let her cool off for a few days, and she’ll retreat on her own."
"Yes."
"A distinguished guest has arrived; go make some tea." She didn’t want to face it for the moment and instructed which type of tea to brew.
The little assistant was puzzled; wasn’t this something Naomi had always done?
She didn’t dare refuse, turning to brew the tea.
Naomi returned to her office to continue working.
...
When Tiana Thorne entered the office, she didn’t see him. She and May Sloane sat on the sofa.
Jesse Rivers checked the time: "Mr. Rivers should be taking a bath in the inner room, please wait a moment."
Tiana suddenly recalled seeing him when she went to audition for "Fox Fairy." It was around the same time, and he was also bathing, she raised an eyebrow lightly and asked, "Jesse, does he take a bath at this time almost every day?"
"Yes, it’s Mr. Rivers’ habit."
A while ago, she had studied astrology and asked again, "Is he a Virgo?"
"No."
He’s not a Virgo and still so particular about cleanliness—he’s simply a refined man.
A knock on the door followed by the entrance of a small assistant who placed two cups of tea in front of them: "Please enjoy the tea."
Tiana raised the teacup, and a faint osmanthus scent wafted up, making her mood exquisite. She looked at the assistant, "This tea is unique."
The assistant, unable to endure her beautiful eyes, lowered her head, "It’s brewed from osmanthus petals."
May added, "This is rose tea."
"Hmm."
Tiana gazed unblinkingly at the assistant, casually asking, "How did you know what flavor tea my agent and I like?"
The beauty liked rose fragrance, she knew well.
The assistant replied, "Secretary Kirby instructed me to brew these two types of tea."
"Secretary Kirby..."
Jesse introduced, "She’s Mr. Rivers’ secretary. She worked for him when he first started the company, and she has a keen sense of smell. With anyone she’s met, she can discern what scent they enjoy."
"I see," May said.
Jesse waved the assistant away.
May couldn’t help but marvel, "Tiana, the people around Aiden Shaw are indeed extraordinary."
"Yes, a man like Mr. Rivers wouldn’t have kept a woman in the company for so many years if she weren’t exceptional."
"That’s true."
At that moment, the door to the room opened.
Aiden Shaw was wearing a white shirt, gray trousers accentuating his long legs, his hair half-dry with a droplet of water falling and spreading on his shirt, giving him a homely, lazy appearance. But within those eyes was a cold, distant light, a sense of coolness and detachment was unmistakable.
Having just taken a bath, his collar was half open, giving an appearance of abstinence, yet there was an indefinable alluring danger.
Tiana Thorne, being the fox fairy herself, instinctively swallowed seeing him like this, unable to resist the urge to push him onto the couch and tear open his seemingly aloof exterior.
May, who was adept at reading situations, stood up without needing prompting, "Tiana, you two talk, I’ll wait outside with Mr. Rivers."
The two left the office one after the other and closed the door.
"Have you been waiting long?"
Tiana scooted over slightly, patting the leather couch with her little paw, her eyes crinkled in a smile, "Just arrived."
Aiden Shaw sat down beside her.
Her charming eyes curled into crescent moons as she leaned closer.
