Divine Magus: Awakening-Chapter 48: Royal Problems

The unconventional trio approached and finally entered the town.

In place were several buildings neatly placed side by side and occupying everywhere possible leaving only space for movement.

Sharing a glance, Logan and Orion alongside the crown prince started to navigate the town.

Looking for an inn, Logan realized the major issue with looking for one.

"Who is gonna pay for our stay?" Logan whispered to Orion because he knew that he had no money on him and he doubted that the prince would have money as well.

"Don’t worry about that, I have my ways." Orion have Logan a thumbs up and the latter was inclined to believe.

Stretching his hand out, Orion muttered words that the other two couldn’t hear.

Knowing that he was casting a spell, Logan wondered what the purpose could be until he saw it.

Coins, gold, silver and copper were rolling to them.

"Hehehehe. Free money." Orion laughed to himself much to the surprise of Logan and prince William alike.

"You stole those?" The prince pointed at Orion who was picking up the gains of his hard work.

"Oh. You’d rather sleep outside or worse sleep outside and get robbed or even assaulted?" Orion scoffed as he put the coins in his pocket.

Logan on the other hand was curious, the precision at which Orion had cast the spell to collect them was one of a practiced professional.

"So how many times have you cast this spell for this reason?" Logan decided to ask him.

"Essentially every time I needed cash as soon as possible. So once every week since my brother and family died." Orion replied as they continued their search for the inn.

Eventually, they came across one that appeared quite decent and not a hub for thieves like all the others.

Upon entering, they saw the receptionist and approached her table.

The receptionist in question had the strong stench of alcohol oozing off of him.

He staggered slightly before focusing his eyes on the three people before him.

"We want a room for like three nights." Orion brought out and dropped a silver coin.

"Thanks for the tip." The receptionist took the coin.

"Now for the payment. One, no two gold coins." He smiled and showed his crooked teeth.

The shadows around the room flared sending shivers down the man’s spine.

His eyes instinctively dashed to Logan whose hand was on his tachi.

Normally, he wouldn’t be this impulsive but the plain attempt at extortion that the man was making was reminiscent of those made by the people in his town.

Fury flared in his eyes, his mind blurred and image started flashing in them.

He could see himself in the air surrounded by the spells of all the elements.

White lightning crackling across his vision.

The vision of a small white sphere appeared.

Something about the sphere felt right to Logan like that was his purpose yet something was deeply wrong.

He charged in at the blurry opponent in front of him yet it dodged and set a punch flying to him.

Dread filled his mind and he tried to take a step back when he felt someone hold him.

Trying to attack, Logan was met with even more resistance until a wave of clarity hit him.

Coming to his senses, he could see his blade pointed to the neck of the receptionist.

The eyes of the man were filled with fear.

Turning around, Logan could see the panic and the worry on the faces of the prince and Orion respectively.

"One silver is more than enough sir. Have a nice stay." The receptionist sobered up and put on a desperate smile.

Reaching for the rack behind him, he handed them the key to their room.

Upon getting there, Orion unlocked the door and sat on the edge of the bed there and waited for Logan to sit.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Orion yelled at Logan as soon as it seemed that the latter was not going to sit.

"You almost cut his head off. Luckily, I sensed the movement of your blade before it was too late." He flayed his arms as he continued to complain.

"Also you were mumbling something about revenge and the one responsible for something. It was really hard to hear what you were saying." Orion let out an exhausted sigh before laying down.

’What was that? The things I saw, they felt so real. The multiple spells, the power that seemed to course through me, the white sphere." Logan ran his hand through his hair.

Knowing that he couldn’t find out the answer to that day, he decided to put it off.

Logan’s eyes fluttered open as the faint sound of footsteps drew his attention.

In his room and gathered around the crown prince were two figures wearing masks.

Sprinting into action, Logan activated his body enchantment and the shadows in the room surged.

He vanished from his position and appeared in the midst of them.

He spun around mid air to slam the hilt of his blade into the head of one of the people present.

The hot connected to the temple and knocked the person out.

Deciding not to waste any time, Logan vanished once again in the midst of shadows.

The other person reached for their pocket and pulled out a talisman.

Locking eyes with Logan as he appeared a few meters away, they broke it and vanished in an instant.

By this time, the ruckus woke Orion and the prince up.

Looking at the unconscious masked man on the floor, all drowsiness vanished from Orion.

"What the hell happened?!" Orion queried Logan.

"I woke up to see him and his partner looming over prince posh." Logan pointedhus thumb to Prince William.

Approaching the man, Logan removed his mask to reveal his face.

He appeared to be in his early twenties.

Raising his hand, Logan slapped him across the face to wake him up.

The man jerked up before realizing where he was.

"I’m sorry my prince, I was not in control of any body. The ambush was by-" The man started to ramble to the Prince as soon as he saw him until his voice suddenly choked.

"By who?" The prince asked.

"By the Bl-" His voiced choked again as a smile twisted his face.

His veins expanded and became visible. His muscles squelched and wriggled beneath his skin and then he exploded.

As the bloody mist released calmed down, Logan could see the blood spell out:

"I’m on my way My Prince"
