Chapter 369: Chapter 368: Remember to Apply the Ointment

When the sunlight streamed in the next day, Mia Sutton was still lying in bed, eyes closed.

Her black hair was splayed freely, forming a sharp contrast against the white sheets.

When Jensen Sterling walked out of the bathroom, he saw the girl wrapped in the blanket, sleeping soundly. He chuckled softly, lifted his long legs, walked to the bedside, and propped an arm on the bed, leaning down to brush Mia’s messy hair to one side.

He called to the girl softly, "Mia..."

Mia didn’t open her eyes at all; a single arm stretched out from under the blanket, flailing aimlessly twice, and she grumbled in dissatisfaction, "Don’t bother me... sleepy~"

Jensen watched her and let out a soft laugh from his throat, leaning down to kiss her forehead, "Go back to sleep."

As he straightened back up, he tucked the blanket around her, then wrote something on a sticky note and stuck it on the bedside table, before quietly opening the door and leaving.

Jensen’s filming schedule was still packed today, spending all morning on the set without time to check his phone.

By the time Mia woke up again, it was almost eleven o’clock. She squinted open her eyes as the sunlight, leaked in through the partly opened curtains, stung her face. She reached out to rub her eyes.

Then she propped herself up in bed, still a little dazed, looking around before she gradually cleared her mind.

Jensen wasn’t there.

She then groped around blindly for her phone, checking the time once she found it.

A few seconds later, her eyes shot wide open, and her mouth dropped slightly agape.

How did it become... eleven o’clock? Could she really sleep that long?

As she climbed out of bed, she moved a bit too quickly. Mia: "Hiss~"

She drew in a sharp breath as pain flared, knitting her pretty brows together as her inner thighs burned.

Mia couldn’t help but let out an elegant Chinese word.

Someone was truly inconsiderate; no wonder Mia was up so late, being kept awake well into the night.

They did everything possible except the final step.

Originally intending to wash up, Mia just flopped back onto the bed once more—what washing? Better to play dead.

After lying there a while longer, she finally crawled up and saw the sticky note on the bedside table.

Food was already ordered, call for it when you wake up.

Don’t eat anything too spicy.

Don’t know when today’s filming will end, go out for a bit if you get bored.

There were other random notes, which Mia read one by one, until she froze at the last line.

Remember to apply the ointment.

Mia: ".....!!!"

She clutched the sticky note, staring at the last sentence and not moving her gaze away for a long time.

Remember to apply the ointment!

Apply. The. Ointment!!!

After a good while, her face flushed hotly, eyes blinking rapidly, as she quickly set the sticky note aside.

Then she saw the ointment placed conspicuously on the bedside table, hard to miss.

She stared at the box for a long time, almost as if trying to bore a hole through it. Though she didn’t want to, her hand obediently took the ointment after all.

There was no other choice, or she herself would suffer.

Unable to help it, she "cursed" Jensen Sterling twice in her mind.

When Mia was done washing up and getting dressed, she looked in the mirror and found her skin near her collarbone was reddened, rubbed by fingers.

There was a tiny mole there too, for some reason Jensen seemed to like it so much.

She couldn’t do anything; her clothes couldn’t cover it, and she had to smear several layers of foundation and concealer over it to cover it up.

As she covered it, her lips moved quietly.

Don’t ask; if you ask, she’s "cursing" Jensen Sterling.

...

Meanwhile, on the set, Jensen Sterling suddenly sneezed unexpectedly, prompting a staff member to ask, concerned, "Mr. Sterling, do you have a cold?"

Jensen replied calmly, "No, let’s continue filming."

"Oh, alright." They went back to setting up the equipment and resumed shooting.

Today’s filming volume was large, requiring continuous action until the director finally called cut.

His assistant handed Jensen a bottle of water, which he drank before asking, "My phone?"

"Here." The assistant retrieved it from a bag and handed it to him.

Jensen opened WeChat, discovering the message he sent Mia around ten in the morning hadn’t been replied to yet.

His eyes lowered slightly.

It’s half-past eleven, still asleep?

It’s time to eat.

He pondered for a few seconds before deciding to call her, and Mia picked up quickly.

Her tone held a trace of grievance, "Mr. Sterling."

Jensen asked, "Awake?"

Mia replied, "Yeah, I’m awake," speaking with a slight nasal tone.

"Just woke up? I see you didn’t reply. Still uncomfortable?"

Mia: "....." Message???

Oh right, she remembered now that when she checked her phone, she did see Jensen’s message.

But the thought of applying ointment preoccupied her, she was too busy "cursing" to remember replying.

Mia stuttered, "Oh, uh... I just got up, haven’t checked my phone yet."

Yes, she just hadn’t looked; she hadn’t forgotten due to being too busy "cursing."

Jensen asked, "Did you see the ointment beside you?"

A mention of it brought some... indescribable scenes back to Mia’s mind.

Hearing no response from Mia, Jensen repeated his question, with an almost teasing tone.

"Did you apply it?"

With her eyes shut, Mia replied, "Applied, applied."

She felt that if she didn’t answer, this guy would ask three, four or even more times. What a strange sense of humor.

Then she heard a soft chuckle from his end, like he was holding the phone close, chuckling right in her ear, almost feeling his breath.

"Mhm, I’ll check when I return."

Mia: "..."

Mia: "......"

The next second, Mia hung up the call.

But the words still lingered in her ear.

"Damn!"

Is that something a person should say? Is that what Jensen Sterling should say?

Check for what?

How would he check?

For some reason, an absurd scene popped unbidden into Mia’s mind.

It’s ridiculous.

What’s happening? Jensen seems to be shedding his image. He wasn’t like this before.

After taking several deep breaths, Mia finally calmed the heat on her face.

The phone she had tossed aside rang, catching her attention with a glance. It was a message from Jensen Sterling.

He wasn’t mad about the hang-up, just chuckled softly, texting her that someone would bring her food later, and she should remember to eat.

She didn’t reply, but Jensen knew she had seen it.

In his heart, he thought, the girl’s face was already this thin-skinned, what’s she going to do in the future...

Mia: In the future, she’ll dig a hole and bury herself, not wanting to live anymore. Let it all end.

When Jensen finally finished shooting, it was already afternoon. Returning to his room, he saw Mia nestled on the bed gaming.

And the ointment placed on the bedside table.

As for whether someone had applied it for her again later or checked it, only they would know.
