Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Hotheaded Rookie

Ruby Sullivan suddenly straightened up, emerging from Ethan Sterling’s shoulder, frowned as she stared at Skylar Aldrin. She pursed her lips to the left and then to the right, feeling that this guy looked familiar, but couldn’t recall where she had seen him.

She whispered in Ethan’s ear: "I think this guy doesn’t look like a good person, darling, let’s stay away from him."

"Okay." Ethan Sterling’s serious face softened into a faint smile. Carrying his wife, he walked up a side path toward the community greenery area, pretending not to see Skylar Aldrin. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

His wife wanted some fresh air, no matter if nothing was happening, even if there was an urgent matter, it had to wait.

Skylar Aldrin thought the other party knew his identity, at least would consider his parents’ face, but turned out to be ignored before he even said anything.

His features crumpled a bit instantly, irritably rubbed a hand over his buzz cut, and helplessly took a few quick steps to catch up, "Ethan Sterling, Mr. Sterling, Mr. Ethan?"

Only then did Ethan Sterling faintly open his mouth, "Now that sounds like a proper way to talk."

Skylar Aldrin rolled his eyes internally, but only pursed his lips slightly. Growing up, aside from his dad, who dared speak to him like this?

Ruby Sullivan lay on her husband’s back, tilting her head with a displeased face at this pestering guy, suddenly let out an "ah" with a look of sudden realization, "Darling, I remember now, he’s the jerk who trashed my studio? Damn it!"

"Don’t curse." Ethan Sterling snorted.

Upon hearing this, Ruby loosened her grip around him and covered her mouth.

Before having a baby, she was a softie; even thinking of swear words made her nervous, let alone saying them. After childbirth, although she became braver as a mother, she needed to set an example for the child, usually only letting loose when work didn’t go well.

Well, now she truly let loose.

Ruby Sullivan giggled foolishly, then lay back on Ethan Sterling’s back, "My bad."

"Good girl." Ethan Sterling adjusted her upward, continuing along the winding path.

Skylar Aldrin, following nearby, got close enough to be overwhelmed by the strong smell of alcohol from Ruby Sullivan, finally realizing she was drunk. Immediately, he perked up, "Mr. Ethan, you look tired carrying her, how about I carry her for you, and we can chat?" He said as he rubbed his palms, ready to take over Ethan’s task.

However, his smiling face only got him a sharp glare, making Skylar’s heart skip a beat, thinking this man is arrogant and unappreciative.

Ruby, bleary-eyed and slow-witted, frowned again and began her staring tactic, eyeing him for a full minute before muttering discontentedly, "Are you saying I’m heavy?" She patted Ethan’s shoulder, "Darling, get him!"

"Apologize." Ethan Sterling gave him a glance.

Skylar Aldrin was dumbfounded, opening his mouth awkwardly yet unable to speak. Wasn’t it said that Ethan Sterling lived wildly and didn’t care about his wife at home?

He caught up, "Ethan Sterling, is this woman your wife?"

"No kidding." Ethan Sterling found him extremely annoying; if not for his parents, he wouldn’t even want to say a word. The night was quiet and beautiful; he just wanted to leisurely carry his wife, enjoy the breeze, sober her up, and watch the moon.

Ruby Sullivan tilted her head, equally annoyed, "So annoying."

Ethan heard her yawn, shrugging his shoulders, "Sleepy?" The evening breeze was cool. She couldn’t fall asleep on his back.

"Mm." Ms. Sullivan lazily elongated her voice.

Ethan Sterling turned back, heading home, viewed Skylar with puzzlement following mechanically, prompting an extra sentence, "No talk about Gwen Yates." Not out of sudden kindness, but fearing Ruby would fall asleep, disturbing her.

Skylar Aldrin put aside those unsettling rumors, "What will it take for you to let her go?"

"My wife’s company’s perfume is about to launch, and inevitably she will need to attend some social events. I can’t let people outside think she’s easy to bully, not even by a nouveau riche’s daughter like Gwen Yates. So, no condition will work." It was rare for Ethan to say this much.

The half-asleep person on his back cooperated, mumbling without opening her eyes, "Exactly..."

Skylar Aldrin thought his point made sense; if Gwen Yates were bullied like that, he wouldn’t stand for it either.

"Wait, how did I get caught up in his words?" He knocked on his head, ran ahead of Ethan, and walked backward reasoning with him, "What do you mean even a nouveau riche’s daughter can bully her? Gwen was clearly framed by you."

This matter was not for Ethan to tell him right from wrong; he had no leisure to be a life coach for a naive young man, looking straight ahead, ignoring him.

Skylar frowned, realizing he was there to plead, "How about this, I’ll have my mom recognize your wife as a goddaughter, make it high-profile, with our Aldrin Family backing her, who dares to bully her?"

An honorary goddaughter might not seem much, but he thought Ms. Sullivan’s company just started; perhaps this fame could bring significant advantages.

Skylar’s words were correct, Aldrin Family’s name indeed carried weight.

"We’ll talk when that happens." Ethan Sterling said as he walked into the residential building.

"It’s settled then." Skylar Aldrin shouted from behind, stopped following, and turned away.

In the hotel room, Gwen Yates waited anxiously for Skylar Aldrin’s return, flicking through TV channels without knowing what to watch.

Since they parted at the Yates Family, she had been texting daily with Skylar, with the first trial approaching, after a big fight with Old Aldrin, who flew into a rage nearly beating his good-for-nothing son to death; if not for Linda Bennett’s intervention, Skylar might be in the hospital.

Having left home penniless, he initially intended to crash at a buddy’s place for a few days, unexpectedly found Gwen hinting sympathy between the lines.

Skylar, muddled, stayed temporarily at the hotel with her.

That evening, Gwen did not leave.

Skylar looked at the red stain on the sheets and vowed to treat her well forever.

Gwen knew how casually such a young so-called man spoke these words; she didn’t hope for lifelong happiness, just wanted in on this warmth, marry him, at least surviving this trouble would be worthwhile.

She even hoped her belly could give face; if getting pregnant with Skylar’s baby now, would the Aldrin Family have a reason not to let her in?

Of course, she also had her ambitions, but if Julian Lowe’s issue couldn’t be resolved, all else was fluff!

Hearing a knock on the door, she hurriedly rushed down to open it, welcoming Skylar in, "How did it go?"

Skylar first gave her a passionate kiss, carrying her all the way to bed, laying Gwen Yates down.

Gwen panted slightly, a bit flustered, covering his mouth, blushing while cooing, "Talk business first!"

Skylar pulled her hand down, "I’ll head home tomorrow, you can rest assured." With that, he eagerly kissed her again.

Ethan Sterling, who was helping Ruby Sullivan bathe, sneezed, unaware someone misunderstood his intentions.
