Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 305: The Thrill of Going Crazy
Ruby Sullivan sat in the bathtub playing with water, splashing bubbles everywhere. Ethan Sterling stood there with a head full of foam, looking grave, much like a helpless old father with a three-year-old daughter.
"Ms. Sullivan, if you’re done, get up, rinse off, and go to sleep." Mr. Sterling coaxed patiently. Although he found his wife quite adorable like this, and it was nice for her to let loose every once in a while, it was starting to give him a bit of a headache.
Besides, he was a perfectly healthy man who already had to recite several lines of the Heart Clarity Spell before sleeping each night, and now he had to sit here watching his lively, beautiful wife play with water...
If he weren’t worried about her falling in the bathroom or dozing off in the bathtub, he wouldn’t have wanted to do such a thankless task.
Couldn’t he leave it to Mama Bennett and Owen Fulton?
Of course not, he felt most at ease taking care of his precious treasure himself.
"No, no, I don’t want to..." Three-Year-Old Sullivan flailed her arms in the bathtub, swaying back and forth while humming and keeping rhythm to her own tune.
Suddenly, Ethan Sterling dropped the towel in his hand on the bathtub and said coldly, "Are you going to be obedient?"
Ruby Sullivan was startled, staring at him blankly, genuinely intimidated into quietness by his presence.
Ethan Sterling let out a long sigh, just about to pull her up and give her a shower to rinse off. Unexpectedly, Ruby Sullivan gave a mischievous grin, used her body weight to pull him down with a sudden tug, dragging him into the bathtub with her.
With a splash, Ethan Sterling fell into the bubble-filled water, surfacing completely soaked. Before he could react, Ruby Sullivan held his face and giggled, "Ethan Sterling, you are really handsome!" and then leaned in, kissing him wildly, passionately, and deeply.
A moment later, Ethan Sterling simply picked Ruby Sullivan up as he stood, her legs wrapping firmly around his waist. In the next second, warm water poured down from above, drenching Ruby Sullivan so that she couldn’t keep her eyes open. She blew out, splattering water all over Ethan Sterling’s face.
But with that bit of chaos, Ruby Sullivan was finally cleaned up.
A few minutes later, Ethan Sterling carried her like a koala back to the bedroom. Having enjoyed enough fun, Ms. Sullivan smacked her lips, and fell asleep within a few minutes of lying down.
Ethan Sterling pinched her nose, made a funny face at her, then turned to find a change of clothes to take a shower. His clothes were still sticking to him, dripping water as he walked.
He pondered, not understanding how she got drunk throughout the evening, even though he’d been watching her the whole time. During dinner earlier, she had consumed much more than she did today. After thinking it over, he only came to one conclusion.
There was something weighing on her mind. Though she wouldn’t say anything, with the help of alcohol, it had all been released.
Ethan Sterling didn’t know if a competent husband would have investigated the issue after realizing it, but he chose to feign ignorance. He believed that accompanying her craziness was enough, and that she’d naturally talk when she felt ready.
When Ruby Sullivan opened her eyes, it was already noon. She felt as if she had wandered through a desert, parched and uncomfortable, wanting to get up to fetch some water when she suddenly realized she was stark naked!
Normally sharing a bed with Ethan Sterling, she would wear pajamas to sleep, so what was going on now?
"Awake?" Ethan Sterling noticed her stirring only to retreat back under the covers, struggling to suppress a laugh.
Ruby Sullivan turned her head to look at him, raising her eyebrows, about to question him on what happened, when the absurd scenes from last night began running through her mind like a slideshow.
Her once raised eyebrows gradually lowered, and her mouth spread into a grin. She quickly burrowed into the blanket, unwilling to come out.
Such things like "baby, let’s take a bath together" and "a moment of spring is worth a thousand pieces of gold"—did a bit of drinking send her over the moon?
Ethan Sterling patted the blanket, "Come out, it’s hot."
"What time is it? Why aren’t you at work yet?" Ruby Sullivan dodged the topic.
"I’m on vacation."
"As the company’s boss, how can you just declare a vacation? Hurry up and go to work; we all depend on you for a living."
"One day won’t make a difference."
Ruby Sullivan felt like crying; for her, every day counted! Right now, she didn’t want to see Ethan Sterling, she was too embarrassed to face him.
Last night, she behaved like a ravenous beast! Even if it was the true reflection of her inner self, how could she let others know what she whispered to herself?
Fearing she’d suffocate under the blanket, Ethan Sterling forcibly pulled her cover away. Even in this brief moment, with the air conditioner still on in the room, her forehead was already beaded with sweat.
When Ruby Sullivan saw him looking at her with a smile, a little flame inside her heart blazed up to her head, and she quickly turned over, showing him only her back.
Ethan Sterling nudged her with his knee, "Did you remember Tyler Aldrin coming over last night to plead for Gwen Yates?"
Ruby Sullivan frowned and thought for a moment. She seemed to have seen the person, but couldn’t recall exactly what had happened, only remembering how she refused to go home and demanded Mr. Sterling take her out for a walk.
Agh, she wanted to die. Ruby Sullivan covered her face with her hand; the more she remembered, the more she wished for oblivion.
"He asked if letting Linda Bennett acknowledge you as a goddaughter would grant Gwen Yates a chance. What do you think?" Though it was unlikely, he thought it best to give Ruby Sullivan a heads-up.
When Ruby Sullivan heard it was something serious, she slowly turned back, clung to her cover tightly, "Of course, I don’t want to add another pair of parents, but forming a connection to the Aldrin Family should be beneficial for you, right?"
Recently, The Sterling Group had been fiercely competing with The Aldrin Clan over land and snatching away many of their major projects. Moreover, several companies under The Aldrin Clan were anonymously reported. Azure Hollis had attempted to dine with Old Hollis, hoping to persuade him to provide financial support to the Aldrin Family.
The son-in-law’s business involving his daughter’s happiness, Old Hollis wasn’t willing to hesitate. But now The Aldrin Clan faced not only The Sterling Group but also had The Sinclair Group backing them up. One wrong move could drag his own company into the mix. Plus, since Tyler Aldrin was now being detained for investigation, Old Hollis refused to yield, stating that everything would be discussed when Tyler was released.
At such a critical moment, if the Aldrin Family sided with Ethan Sterling, the chances of Tyler being released would be slim.
The most intimidating aspect of a family like the Aldrin’s is their vast, intricate network of ties preserved over generations. Everyone is bound together for various reasons, and nobody would offend the Aldrin Family over someone as insignificant as Tyler.
Even sharing the same last name wouldn’t bring any family advantages.
"Are you considering this for me?" Ethan Sterling saw her conflicted expression and felt somewhat pleased.
Ruby Sullivan nodded, "You’re my financial backer now, of course I hope you’ll become stronger and stronger."
At this point, Ethan Sterling couldn’t quite tell if this girl was being sincere or just jesting, but considering his welfare undoubtedly made him certain she cared, and that was enough. He ruffled her hair, "I think it would also be a good opportunity for Nirvana to form this connection with the Aldrin Family."
"No." Ruby Sullivan refused flatly, "It’s not necessary." Nirvana’s rise relied on its strength, and she didn’t need to call anyone else dad!
"Okay." Ethan Sterling kissed her cheek with a smile, "That’s my girl, ambitious indeed."
"Of course." Ruby Sullivan raised her eyebrows, gleefully, not detecting anything amiss in what he said.
She called Howard and lounged in bed a bit longer, only getting up to find clothes to wear after insisting Ethan Sterling leave.
In the afternoon, she was going to the factory with Howard to check out the situation there.
