Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Operations Director

Skylar Aldrin pleaded with Lynn Sawyer for help, speaking so much that his mouth went dry, yet his mother still wouldn’t relent. In a fit of anger, he flared up, shouted "Fine, just do whatever you want" and hurriedly went upstairs to his room, slamming the door with enough force that it seemed like he wanted to tear it off its hinges.

Lynn Sawyer was startled by the loud noise from downstairs, and she sighed heavily in worry, taking a while to calm down before returning to the room. She whispered to her husband, "If our son keeps causing such a fuss, who knows what kind of trouble he’ll stir up. I just can’t feel secure."

Old Aldrin also stared blankly in worry, "What can we do? Our lives have been ruined by this kid. Let’s keep him from going back to school for now. Once the Yates Family’s and The Sterling Family’s issues blow over, Skylar Aldrin won’t have anything for others to take advantage of."

The next day, Ethan Sterling dropped Ruby Sullivan off at the bottom of the company building, "By the way, I’ve found you a particularly reliable operations director. He’ll report at the company this morning."

"So sudden? I haven’t even prepared my samples..." Ruby Sullivan thought about her delayed work schedule and spoke in a lower tone.

Ethan Sterling ruffled her hair, "Don’t worry, I’ve got your back."

"Mm." Ruby Sullivan smiled, gave him a peck on the cheek, and turned to skip into the office building, acting just like a young couple in love.

It was during the early morning rush hour when two junior office workers happened to see the pair’s goodbye kiss and were instantly filled with envy.

"I’ve seen him several times; he seems to bring his girlfriend to work every day. You can tell from that dark blue Bentley that his status is extraordinary, and he’s so good-looking. It’s just unfair." If it weren’t for this couple both having super good looks, she wouldn’t remember so clearly.

"That guy does look kind of familiar. Could he be a D-list celebrity?"

"How could that be? Just those legs alone can’t belong to a D-list celebrity. Ah, yet another boyfriend from someone else’s family."

If Ruby Sullivan heard this, her restless girlish heart would probably bloom once more.

These were the kind of scenes she dreamed of during her teenage days, thinking she would never have them in her life.

When Claire and Tina arrived at the company, Ruby Sullivan announced the arrival of the new operations director that day. Although it sounded grand, the operations department only had this director, so there wasn’t a single person under him.

Claire and Tina were curious about who it could be, asking Ruby Sullivan to reveal a bit of the new person’s identity. That was when Ruby realized she hadn’t even asked if it was a man or a woman; she was just happy hearing Ethan Sterling say it, without any thought that his choice might be unreliable.

Ruby Sullivan didn’t know when she started trusting Ethan Sterling so much, but it seemed to feel pretty good.

"I know as much as you guys do, not even when he’s reporting. What do you guys want to eat? I’ll treat everyone to a big meal today and we’ll welcome our new director." Yes, although he’s surely a significant person, Ruby Sullivan didn’t want Claire and Tina to feel neglected.

She didn’t yet know how to be a good boss, but she knew as a former employee what kind of boss she didn’t like, and she could avoid those pitfalls.

Claire grinned mischievously, "At a time like this, shouldn’t we wait for the future director’s opinion? But, I do really want to eat a crab pot, the crabs this season are just too fresh!" She said as if she could already smell the rich aroma of crabs.

Tina raised her eyebrows, "Then I want to eat that pineapple curry lobster from that restaurant. I bet the future director will surely like that place too."

Ruby Sullivan was amused by the two girls’ smug expressions, nodding, "I’m thinking the same as you guys; the future director will definitely be on the same wavelength as us."

The three of them changed into their work attire, ready to start their day. After the little episode, they all felt pretty good and were looking forward to the new member of the Nirvana family.

Half an hour later.

"Boss, smell this. I’ve adjusted the eucalyptus proportion to nearly one percent," Tina carefully handed the test tube to Ruby Sullivan.

Ruby Sullivan fanned her hand and smelled a sweet fruity scent resembling white peach, and most interestingly, the base note transformed into a fresh grass scent.

Previously, they had failed over a hundred times to create this scent and had nearly given up on this dreamy idea. If it weren’t for the need to restore previous work, Tina wouldn’t have been struck with such inspiration, using the method of continuously removing eucalyptus, and ended up succeeding by accident.

The three girls confirmed the fragrance and hugged each other, screaming and laughing, doing spins filled with the magic of love.

The man who had been standing at the studio door for a full three minutes watched the scene through the glass doors, finding himself hesitant to interrupt. He just hoped that someone would catch a glimpse of him at the door and notice this unknown creature.

After all, he’s quite a big guy, and it would be sad to be ignored the whole time.

"Hey, there’s a visitor!" Finally not in vain, after stopping to catch their breath, Claire noticed the man at the door, going over to let him in while panting, "Howard, why are you here? Did Mr. Sterling send us delicious treats again?" She said as she scrutinized Howard, who didn’t seem to have anything in his hands.

Howard squinted with a smile, maintaining his good-natured demeanor, "Then I’ll treat everyone to lunch."

Ruby Sullivan, still catching her breath, walked over and looked at him in surprise, "You wouldn’t happen to be my marketing director, right?"

"Just finished my resignation procedures over there, hope we can work together well going forward, Ms. Sullivan." Howard extended his hand towards Ruby Sullivan.

No wonder Ethan Sterling said he was giving her a treasured team member, he really was a significant operations director.

"We’ll be counting on you for our year-end bonuses." Ruby Sullivan shook his hand and then stepped forward to give him a big hug, "Welcome."

Claire and Tina exchanged glances, both somewhat skeptical of Howard’s qualifications.

"Boss, a director position is decided so casually?" Tina whispered in Ruby Sullivan’s ear, making sure Howard couldn’t hear.

Though they knew Howard was a capable assistant by Ethan’s side, they didn’t understand Howard’s daily work and thought he was just a leader of the secretary team, handling public relations crises and organizing Mr. Sterling’s schedule at most.

These days, even good wine fears alleys; for such an important role as operations director, you need someone renowned nationwide to be reliable, right?

Ruby Sullivan knew these two girls genuinely cared about the studio’s success, but she also felt it was necessary to set the record straight about Howard. "Relax, Howard managed The Sullivan Group, such a publicly traded company, so being Nirvana’s director should be more than enough."

Claire and Tina immediately wore faces of surprise, realizing it really had been over six months since they last saw Howard at The Sterling Group!

They envisioned the comparison between The Sullivan Group and Nirvana, feeling that the studio’s rise was just around the corner!
