Ruby Sullivan felt alive only after taking a shower and lying down on the bed, yet the thought of having to continue battling at the company tomorrow left her with an indescribable fatigue.
If it weren’t for Skylar Aldrin’s interference, she could have finalized the product samples today. If it weren’t for Ethan Sterling, the financial backer, Nirvana would’ve been crushed before it even had a chance to rise again.
Just then, her financial backer, wrapped in a towel, pushed the door open and came in. His perfectly sculpted abs extending into the towel were simply irresistible.
What to do? She was a bit tempted.
Ethan Sterling noticed the look in her eyes, suddenly froze, feeling somewhat like a prey in her eyes.
"I forgot to get my pajamas." He felt a little warm under her stare and quickly went to the wardrobe to find his clothes.
Ruby Sullivan squinted her eyes, "Mr. Sterling, are you... nervous?"
He had sworn to himself that he would not overstep any boundaries before restoring their legal marital relationship, as a sign of respect for her and his feelings towards her.
If he couldn’t manage these things, he didn’t deserve to be her man.
However, this woman seemed to be provoking him...
Ethan Sterling turned to look at her, raised an eyebrow, "Do you want me to be nervous?"
Ruby Sullivan blinked, suddenly feeling timid under his gaze, and ducked under the light quilt, "Ah, so tired, going to sleep, going to sleep."
Ethan Sterling laughed; this one is truly good at acting. Then, he deliberately took out his pajamas, untied the towel in front of her, and began to put on clothes openly.
This was also unavoidable; should he take the clothes to the bathroom to get dressed?
Ruby Sullivan pulled the quilt to cover half her face, admiring the man’s fit physique, her eyes lit up; tsk tsk, this man is truly devilish, hasn’t been seen going to the gym much, yet maintains such a great shape?
Just as she was lost in her whimsical daydreams, Ethan Sterling suddenly tilted his head and gave her a wicked smile, lunging at her, "Woman, have you seen enough?"
Ruby Sullivan saw his eager expression and instantly felt her blood surge with excitement, "You, what do you want to do?"
Ethan Sterling chuckled softly and flipped over to his usual side of the bed, patting his thigh, "What else can I do, come over here, let me massage your head."
"Alrighty." Ruby Sullivan immediately happily lay over.
When Ethan Sterling saw her face outside Nirvana’s glass door today, his heart ached. That was not her usual focused work expression; the unconsciously furrowed brows revealed her inner anxiety.
Although she said casually at the dinner table that it was a trivial matter, deep down he knew she felt wronged and upset about her hard work being ruined, yet couldn’t voice it out.
Perhaps everyone’s lives are like this; not everything goes smoothly, and there are times when one has to swallow their pride, but she is his woman, and seeing her wronged makes his heart ache unbearably.
She has already endured too much suffering because of him; he hopes her future days will be filled with sweetness, all kinds of sweetness would do.

That night, Skylar Aldrin secretly slipped out of the hospital. He knew Ethan Sterling had tremendous influence in Ariston, and feared that if he delayed even one night, Gwen Yates would suffer.
Roman Aldrin and Lynn Sawyer were surprised to see their son suddenly appear at home.
Lynn Sawyer hurriedly helped him to the sofa, "Didn’t the doctor say you should rest in the hospital for a month? Why are you back home in the middle of the night?"
Roman Aldrin snorted coldly, "You didn’t cause any trouble in the hospital, did you?"
Skylar Aldrin knew his father was never fond of him, so he didn’t bother arguing, instead turning to Lynn Sawyer, "Mom, I heard Ethan Sterling is trying to frame Gwen secretly. How can a girl who came from elsewhere to study in Ariston possibly be a match for Ethan Sterling? Even if she’s not my love interest, we have to help her."
Lynn Sawyer frowned, feeling her son was being used again.
Before attending the banquet, they didn’t know much about the Yates Family, but after returning, they knew this Gwen Yates was no ordinary girl from out of town.
As for the Yates Family, they were just local tycoons with a reputation for poor conduct, certainly the type of company with plenty of issues that could be uncovered with a little digging.
"How could I have such a brainless son?" Roman Aldrin was furious recalling how the Yates family embarrassed themselves in front of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling today.
With parents like that, could their daughter be a proper lady? Surely their foolish son was captivated and that’s why he’s defending her to them!
Having vented his anger with those words, he stormed off.
It’s often said that overindulgence by mothers spoils sons; although Lynn Sawyer wasn’t exactly doting on Skylar Aldrin, she hadn’t been firm with discipline when necessary.
When the child was young, Roman Aldrin was in the army; by the time he had the time to discipline his son, Skylar had become a troublemaker, constantly opposing his father.
Skylar Aldrin, feeling rebellious, watched his father’s departing figure coldly, saying, "In his eyes, I’m not fit to be his son."
Lynn Sawyer sighed, understanding the father-son tension wasn’t something that could be resolved overnight; it was better not to mention it for now.
"Son, we had dinner with Gwen’s parents and Ethan Sterling tonight; things are not like you said."
Skylar Aldrin frowned, "Mom, are you dumb? Ethan Sterling can’t possibly admit he’s trying to frame Gwen. You’re not going to believe what he said, are you?"
Lynn Sawyer frowned, choosing to ignore her son’s comment about her being dumb, "We know Gwen’s parents; how could Gwen not know your identity? Moreover, her family is wealthy, she’s not just any ordinary girl."
"Her family is wealthy?" Hearing his mom’s words, not only did Skylar Aldrin have no doubts about Gwen, but he appreciated her even more, feeling she’s just like him, someone who doesn’t rely on family.
Seeing her son’s inappropriate expression, Lynn Sawyer had no choice but to continue, "You’ve never been married, so you might not understand some things. Even if Mrs. Sterling did hire someone to warn her and it was wrong, if the girl hadn’t had improper thoughts about Mr. Sterling, why would Mrs. Sterling act so? How could a well-behaved and excellent girl have feelings for a married man?"
"Mom, you don’t know about Ethan Sterling’s reputation. He and Ruby Sullivan have been divorced once already. Do you know why? Because he fancied his wife’s sister!
