Chapter 246: Chapter 246: New Home

Ethan Sterling made another call to the servant who stayed at the Sterling Family home to take care of Brandon Sullivan, telling her to return to the Sterling Family home early tomorrow morning.

Brandon Sullivan was one of the very few veteran entrepreneurs that Ethan Sterling respected, which was one reason he didn’t refuse when his grandmother proposed a business alliance back then. And back then, regardless of whether Brandon Sullivan offered his help out of love for his daughter or something else, Ethan Sterling felt grateful for it.

But now, a generation’s business mogul is truly taking a bow.

What Brandon Sullivan did today was purely out of a father’s desperate love, without considering the consequences, and he didn’t even bother to verify if he achieved his desired outcome. These details are enough to show that his peculiar temper and his various sluggish behaviors weren’t an act.

The absence of accomplices indicates that he and Rhonda didn’t become someone else’s pawns. From another perspective, the Sullivan Family, both young and old, has lost any value for exploitation, which is sadly regrettable.

The words Ruby Sullivan said before leaving today clearly expressed her attitude; she intended to draw a clear boundary with the Sullivan Family. This time, she wanted to completely abandon the cheap family ties with Brandon Sullivan.

Ethan Sterling felt a bit sorry for Ruby Sullivan, yet he also thought it was a good thing. With him around, he would give her a new home, one that could shelter her from the wind and rain.

When Ethan Sterling arrived, the nurse had just removed Honey’s IV.

Her body temperature had dropped significantly. The suggestion was for her to go home and sleep well, drink plenty of water, and avoid catching a chill again.

Upon seeing her dad, Honey immediately stretched out her arms for a hug, pouting with tears welling up, "Daddy."

Ethan Sterling furrowed his brows and almost dashed over, swooping up the daughter on the hospital bed without caring about her dirty face, kissing her repeatedly, "Darling, it’s my fault, I made you suffer."

Honey buried her head in her dad’s shoulder, crying softly, "It’s not your fault, daddy. It’s mommy’s dad who’s too bad. I never want to play with him again, I never want to call him grandpa again."

She thought of herself and her brother huddled together in that dark pit, feeling even more aggrieved, and snuggled even closer to her dad’s embrace.

Once Honey had cried her heart out, Ethan Sterling put his daughter down, squatted, and held his son’s shoulders, "You were amazing." After he spoke, he made a fist and extended it toward his son.

Seth gave a little smile, made a fist too, and bumped it against his dad’s.

The family of four headed home, and Ethan Sterling called Mama Bennett to prepare a late-night snack, as the two little ones were starving.

Ruby Sullivan never knew where Ethan Sterling had taken Mama Bennett and the two kids to live. As the car drove into the familiar neighborhood, she was a bit surprised and asked wryly, "Ethan Sterling, you didn’t buy the rental I stayed in like those domineering CEOs in novels, did you?"

Ethan Sterling gave her a sidelong glance, "You’re overthinking."

Ruby Sullivan: "..."

"That place is too small for the kids and the servant to live." Even so, he still bought it, just didn’t want to tell her right now.

No particular reason, just wanting to keep memories of those days bringing his son over for meals.

Ruby Sullivan felt a corner of her mouth twitch in frustration, turning her head away from him.

The other place Ethan Sterling bought was a large six-bedroom; aside from the children’s rooms, the servant’s room, and their master bedroom, he left space for a study.

The living room was spacious, and with an open kitchen, he set up the living room as a children’s room.

Actually, he bought this place when they went to Meridia, specifically hiring a renowned domestic designer to design it, intending to move out with them after bringing the mother and kids back from the Sterling Family. It was just the unexpected awakening of Brandon Sullivan that delayed the move-out plan.

This was the home he wanted to leave for them, and he didn’t mention it, keeping a tiny bit of selfishness, the same selfishness that made him not want to leave even a guest room.

"Do you like it?" Ethan Sterling asked after seeing Ruby Sullivan stroll around inside and out. Although he asked casually on the surface, his heart was already pounding nervously.

The decor here was finalized based on Ruby Sullivan’s tastes and their discussions, holding great significance for him. If Ruby Sullivan didn’t like it, he would indeed feel a bit discouraged.

Ruby Sullivan kept her hands behind her back, nodding with a smile, like a happy little girl, "Especially the bedroom and the study, they really suit my taste." It’s nighttime now, making the light in the bedroom seem particularly relaxed, and the strawberry wall lamp by the bed is something she absolutely loves.

Tonight truly has been eventful, with nail-biting tension, heart-wrenching decisions, and finally seeing the relief and comfort in her daughter and son’s faces, as if a heavy stone lifted from their hearts. Standing in this living room filled with the aroma of food, she could only think of one word.

Home.

Ruby Sullivan’s emotions surged for a moment, unable to help herself from stepping forward to hug him, "Thank you, Ethan Sterling." Then she retreated a few steps, wiping away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and turned to call the kids to eat.

Ethan Sterling froze for a moment, in that second, he only felt something brush over the deep pond in his heart, sending ripples across the water’s surface, unable to settle for a long time.

After dinner, the two little ones rested a little before washing up and going to sleep, as today’s commotion had exhausted them. Honey uttered only two or three words to her dad before falling asleep, and by the time Ethan Sterling entered Seth’s room, the little guy was already asleep on his own.

As Ruby Sullivan finally returned home, what she wanted most was for Mama Bennett to help her freshen up.

Although the hospital had a bathroom, it was too small for her to bathe, and with Ethan Sterling doing the caring, she could only wash casually, feeling too embarrassed to ask him to scrub her back.

Despite trying her best to stay hygienic, she could still sense the smell of sweat on herself, puzzled at how Ethan Sterling managed to stay by her side every day.

While removing her shirt, she heard the door open and asked Mama Bennett a bit shyly, "Mama Bennett, do I smell bad to you?"

"I’ve gotten used to it."

Startled, Ruby Sullivan hastily grabbed her shirt to cover her chest, turning to glare at him, "Ethan Sterling, how did you get in here? Go go go, use the bathroom over there!"

Ignoring her, Ethan Sterling washed a towel with hot water, looking back at her, "Mama Bennett and Owen Fulton are washing the dishes, no time to help you scrub your back."

Ruby Sullivan frowned. She had clearly just arranged it with Mama Bennett, how come there was no time?

"I can wait!" She didn’t want to argue with him, knowing she’d inevitably lose.

"Everyone’s too tired today. Let me finish, so you can go to bed early. Besides... don’t you want to talk with me for a bit?" Ethan Sterling’s voice was enticing, his gentle gaze coaxing her.

Today was supposed to be an ordinary day, but with the two of them going in circles tonight, the mental exhaustion was substantial. As for having a conversation...

Ruby Sullivan thought of the matters at the Sullivan Family and the harsh words she left behind, as well as the trial scheduled for tomorrow, indeed requiring discussion.

Yet, she didn’t put down her clothes, reluctantly sitting on the stool, "Then just scrub my back a bit." Oh, she had hoped to get a thorough cleaning from top to bottom.
