Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 245: End of All Ties
Ruby Sullivan squeezed Ethan Sterling’s hand, lowered her gaze, and said nothing.
Ethan Sterling understood her meaning, took her over, and sat across from the two of them, picking up the contract to look it over carefully.
From Lawyer Bennett’s words, it seemed he was completely unaware. Considering Brandon Sullivan’s current state, it was impossible he was colluding to clear suspicions with a performance, so the likelihood of any trick in these contracts provided by Lawyer Bennett was extremely low. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
But Ethan Sterling did not relax in the slightest; as the matter concerned Ruby Sullivan, he only scrutinized it more thoroughly.
Aside from the two points Brandon Sullivan demanded, the contract had no other traps.
Ethan Sterling nodded at Ruby Sullivan. At that moment, his phone suddenly vibrated, displaying a message from Howard: The child has been found, unharmed. He grabbed Ruby Sullivan’s hand and turned the phone screen to show her.
Ruby Sullivan bit her lip but, still took the pen, and without a word, flipped to the appropriate page and signed her name.
Brandon Sullivan, seeing her signature, was suddenly overjoyed. Seeing Ruby Sullivan preparing to leave, he didn’t sense anything wrong, and said in a lighthearted tone, "Don’t worry, I won’t harm the children. They’re all locked in an old factory of the Sullivan Family in the suburbs. I’ve left water and bread there, they’ll be fine."
Ruby Sullivan cast him a cold glance, and said in a deep voice, "Brandon Sullivan, you and Rhonda will both meet a bad end." Every word she spoke was filled with hate, each one a curse smashing upon him!
Brandon Sullivan was stunned by her gaze, his neck stiff as he watched Ruby Sullivan’s back leave. It was a long moment before he came back to himself, his lips twitching in complaint, "What a waste to have raised this daughter!"
Lawyer Bennett completed the signature check, organized the contract, and placed it on the coffee table, "If there’s nothing else, elder Mr. Sullivan, I’ll be going now."
Brandon Sullivan rose to see him off with a smile, "Apologies for today, my younger daughter is just willful by nature. She’ll understand in time that I only have her best interests at heart."
Lawyer Bennett had heard a fair amount of the different stories about Ethan Sterling and the Sullivan sisters. Frankly, there was no one in Ariston who hadn’t heard at least something. But he was wise and smart, offering a polite smile, avoiding the topic as he quickly left the Sullivan residence.
Brandon Sullivan sat back down on the sofa, soon forgetting his younger daughter’s departure curse. Cheerfully, he picked up the agreements on the coffee table and looked them over again, then immediately called Rhonda Sullivan’s defense attorney.

At Mercy Hospital, Ethan Sterling’s car hadn’t even stopped when Ruby Sullivan eagerly dashed out, ignoring her still unhealed wounds, and jogged straight to Honey’s hospital room.
Howard and Seth Sterling were guarding the room, while Honey lay in bed, her little face dirty and frowning as if having a nightmare.
Seth was holding her hand, hoping to give her strength.
Ruby Sullivan gently opened the door, and seeing Honey and Seth, bit her lips hard to keep from crying out.
Howard stood up and nodded slightly at her.
Seth, unable to contain his joy, gently set down his sister’s small hand and quietly walked to Ruby Sullivan, hugging her leg, "Mom." He called out softly, not wanting to wake his sister.
There was a band-aid on his face, and like his sister, he was dirty, a shade darker than usual.
Ruby Sullivan rubbed his head, the pain from her back making her resist the urge to hug her son, instead squatting down and holding him close, giving him a kiss, she whispered, "Does it still hurt?"
Seth shook his head, smiling, though tears fell from his big eyes while rubbing them and turning his head, displaying a stubborn look that didn’t want to be seen.
Ruby Sullivan stood up, handed him a tissue, and only then went to see Honey.
Howard lowered his voice, "A slight fever, likely from the night chill and a scare. She cried a lot when she saw me and fell asleep on the way. Then her body started heating up."
Ruby Sullivan nodded, her eyes misting over, she choked up a little, saying, "Thank you."
"Just doing my duties." Howard said and noticed Ethan Sterling at the door, then quietly left the room.
Ruby Sullivan sat down to hold her daughter’s hand, watching her receive IV fluids, not bothering with things outside.
The hospital’s night was very quiet, and people speaking in the corridor would echo, afraid of disturbing the patients. Ethan Sterling and Howard went to the lobby.
"Seth and Honey were locked in a pit, likely dug for large equipment in the past. Someone covered it with planks and straw, making it nearly impossible to hear their cries for help. During our thorough search, we found them. Seth said Brandon Sullivan came to get them, claiming he would take them to see their mom. Being their grandpa, the school didn’t suspect and let them go. No one else was with them; they took a taxi to the factory. On the way, Brandon gave each a candy. After eating it, they fell asleep."
"Seth woke before Honey and noticed something was wrong. As he struggled to leave, a wire cut his face, but it’s been treated. Honey began to have a fever on the way back. The doctor said it might be due to the cold and fright. According to Seth’s timeline, they were kept for at least three hours."
Howard finished and added, "Oh, right, Dr. Lawson came by to check Honey, recommended a full examination once her fever subsides."
"Understood, thank you for your efforts." Ethan Sterling genuinely expressed in the second half of his sentence.
Howard was slightly uncomfortable with his boss’s kindness, showing an embarrassed smile, even his stance slacked, rocking side to side, he asked, "Can I get a drumstick?"
"Sure." Ethan Sterling replied decisively, "But there is one thing, you might need to return from The Sullivan Group."
"That’s great! Honestly, I’ve long been unwilling to handle that mess." Howard lamented, "The Sullivan Group’s accounts are a real mess like The Spider’s Web, if it wasn’t for Rhonda’s destruction over the years, it’s indeed a common illness in such old companies. They expand too early and don’t pay enough attention to finances, bad debts are everywhere."
"Alright, go rest now." Ethan Sterling turned to quickly walk back to the patients’ wing, eager to see his daughter.
He was very satisfied with Howard’s performance at The Sullivan Group. Even though he can’t continue to be his assistant upon returning, The Sterling Group has a more suitable position for him. Otherwise, it would indeed be a waste of talent.
As Ethan Sterling approached the room, his phone suddenly vibrated. He picked it up to see an unknown number, "Hello?"
"Is this Mr. Sterling, Ethan Sterling? I’m Gordon Bennett, Lawyer Bennett. We met just now at elder Mr. Sullivan’s." Lawyer Bennett, having found Ethan’s personal number through several people, spoke cautiously.
Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow, "What is it?"
"Tonight, elder Mr. Sullivan had me over..."
Ethan Sterling sensed he seemed to be explaining, growing impatient, he curtly interrupted, "Get to the point."
Lawyer Bennett swallowed his words at the interruption, mentally rearranging his thoughts before continuing, "If needed, I’m willing to testify."
Ethan Sterling ended the call, feeling a mix of emotions.
