Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 178: He’s Going to Meridia Too
Rachel Lawson noticed the tense expressions on the two brothers’ faces and frowned with displeasure, "Are you still going to let people eat properly?"
Leon Sterling immediately put down his bowl, got up, "I’m full." After saying so, he left the dining room.
Emma knew he hadn’t eaten much and felt a bit guilty. She quickly finished the food in her bowl and hurriedly got up, "I’m done too, take your time eating."
Rachel, still frowning, sighed, "Are you brothers going to keep acting like enemies?"
"It’s Leon who hasn’t figured it out," Ethan Sterling didn’t want to dwell on the minor incident and continued eating.
"You figured it out?" Rachel stopped what she was doing, glared at him, and after a moment, seeing her eldest son unbothered, she put down her bowl in frustration and left angrily.
One after another, don’t they want this family anymore? Blood brothers fighting over a woman like this—are her sons not excellent enough, or did she truly commit some sin in her past life?
On the other side, Emma chased Leon to his room, holding an apple, "Want to eat?"
Leon focused on the book in his hand, not even raising his eyes, "What’s up?"
Emma had mastered the skill of looking unbothered no matter how turbulent she felt inside, so no one could see her dissatisfaction with her second brother ignoring her. She sat down on a chair, "Second brother, clinging to Wenny like this will make everyone awkward."
Leon kept reading without speaking.
Emma could only continue nagging, "Even if you don’t consider others, at least think about the kids’ feelings, right? What are you going to let Honey and Seth call you? Besides, hasn’t Wenny already rejected you?"
"Get out." Leon finally closed the book and looked at Emma, but his eyes were a bit intimidating, a layer of ice seemingly forming at the bottom.
Emma rolled her eyes, slapped the apple on the table, "You’re a hard rock!" Recently, she’d been chatting more with Nathaniel, and her Chinese had greatly improved. She slammed the door shut with a ’bang,’ feeling resentment towards Wenny for the first time, not understanding why so many men would like her.
She dejectedly returned to her room, entered, leaned against the door, and sighed a long breath, "Cindy Sterling, when did you become so bitter? Just because he likes her, are you going to slander even your friends?" After finishing her self-talk, she sighed again.
Hadn’t she always said that a girl like Wenny, who was both beautiful and talented, was someone even she would like? And now she was complaining in her heart about her being liked by too many people—crazy.
The unpleasantness at the dining table didn’t change Leon Sterling’s mind; even if Ruby Sullivan was returning to the country, so what? He could come back with her later; he had plenty of time, much more freedom than his elder brother.
Meanwhile, Ethan Sterling, sitting quietly in the study, didn’t want to think more about these things. His goal was straightforward—if she left, bring her back first, and then deal with other things. Love is fleeting; no great emotion beats spending every day together until old age.
Indeed, spending every day together and growing old doesn’t always have love as a prerequisite; his parents were the best example.
The reason he wanted her was simple—this woman could cure his insomnia.
*
That morning, Honey and Seth Sterling happily video called Ethan Sterling with an iPad. Though Ethan usually made video calls in no more than three days, Honey missed her father a lot and would always chatter non-stop.
Meanwhile, Seth mostly accompanied beside her, only speaking when Ethan asked. However, they did have one long phone call about starting primary school early; after all, starting school early was just the beginning. With Meridia’s open education system, skipping grades was a matter of choice for someone like Seth.
After chatting about the usual daily things, Honey excitedly mentioned, "Mom said Uncle Don came to Meridia today. She went to pick him up while Big Brother and I were still sleeping, and Mama Bennett said they’d be back soon."
Ethan Sterling’s expression froze for a moment, "Then...how about Daddy also come to see you?"
Honey’s eyes sparkled, and even Seth seemed a bit excited.
"When are you coming?" Honey eagerly asked.
"Well, Daddy is quite busy with work, so he needs to arrange things well before coming over, but...very soon, I promise." Ethan Sterling, at some point, had learned to use a child-like tone to chat with his daughter.
"Great, my brother and I will be waiting for you here." Honey tilted her head to look at Seth, laughingly tucking her chin in, her eyes squinting into lines.
"Then Daddy has to get back to work first; call me if anything comes up." Ethan Sterling finished and looked at Seth, "Seth, take care of Mom and your sister."
"Don’t worry." Seth’s words were still few.
"Also, take care of yourself." Ethan added a word of advice.
"Mm." He nodded.
After the video call ended, Honey was still immersed in the joy of her father’s impending visit, "I want Daddy to take me to Disneyland. Nina said her whole family is going this weekend." Nina was a new friend Honey met in kindergarten.
Seth also smiled and nodded, though he wasn’t particularly interested in Wonderland, he missed his father as much as Honey did, perhaps even more.
Previously, he just didn’t want to live with Rhonda Sullivan, fearing that after her baby was born, he would become a burden in that family. After arriving in Meridia, he realized that even though he spoke very little with his father each day, he still missed him when they didn’t see each other.
On the other side, Ethan Sterling sat on the window sill, contemplating for a moment as he gazed at the night outside, then promptly called Howard, "Sort out the business over in Meridia; I’m planning to go on a business trip there soon."
Howard was a bit confused, "Mr. Sterling, the most critical thing for The Sterling Group right now is the Daydream launch, and there’s really nothing in Meridia that requires your personal attention."
Ethan Sterling frowned, "I want to go incognito, just arrange it." He hung up the phone after saying so—there really wasn’t nothing necessary? When did Howard become so dense?
Howard felt a bit helpless after this phone call—going incognito usually only happened when people had too much free time on their hands. Aidan Sinclair had been closely associating with Dr. L recently. It appeared that they were just good friends, but the frequent meetings had everyone on edge.
The fact that Mr. Sterling planned to go incognito abroad at such a critical time was indeed quite a personality move.
Meridia, Kensington International Airport.
Ruby Sullivan was standing at the periphery of the crowd waiting for arrivals, trying hard to spot Leon Sterling from a gap in the crowd. But until most of the passengers had disembarked, she still hadn’t seen him. She thought maybe it wasn’t this flight, but considering the time, it indeed should have been. Just as she was about to call Leon, she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Turning around, Ruby saw a brightly smiling young man, so dazzling, it didn’t seem like he’d been on a plane for nearly twenty hours.
