Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Not Allowed

Leon Sterling was wearing a dark blue bucket hat, a hoodie of the same color with an oversized gray cardigan on top, and light blue ripped jeans with canvas shoes underneath, looking incredibly youthful.

He playfully tapped Ruby Sullivan’s nose, "Don’t recognize me?"

Ruby Sullivan blinked, then finally smiled a bit awkwardly, "How did you suddenly pop up from there?"

"Oh, that... I’ll tell you later. Let’s go home first; I kind of miss those two little ones," Leon Sterling said, pushing the luggage forward, seemingly eager to leave the airport.

Ruby Sullivan laughed, "Honey and Seth miss you too. They were overjoyed when they heard you were coming yesterday."

After they had walked just a few steps, a girl wearing a red dress and holding high heels blocked their path.

She ran over, panting heavily, waving her hand, signaling them to stop.

Leon Sterling frowned.

Ruby Sullivan tilted her head to look at his expression, instantly piqued her curiosity, thinking the girl must be a little admirer from the plane, her gaze turning into one eager to watch a show, "And you are..."

"Um, hello Auntie," the girl took a deep breath, "I’m Charles’ student, my name is Vivian." She spoke in a broken sentence, her facial features almost twisted to catch her breath.

After speaking, she looked at Ruby Sullivan, "Are you his... sister?"

Ruby Sullivan adjusted her non-prescription glasses to hide her embarrassment, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Rushed out in the morning without makeup, her hair was a mess and untamed, making her look older standing next to Leon Sterling. But in terms of age, she was definitely a year younger than Leon Sterling.

Leon Sterling was quite helpless. After exiting the gate, he took a big detour to avoid this little girl, yet he was still caught by her. It was truly bad luck; how coincidental to meet on the plane?

Before he could finish speaking, the airport broadcast suddenly blurted out a familiar name, "Vivian Jennings, please proceed to the service desk to claim your luggage."

"Ah, darn it," Vivian grimaced, hesitated a bit, then suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Leon Sterling’s arm, "Master, come with me to get my luggage."

Leon Sterling was speechless, immediately retracting his arm, "This has nothing to do with me."

"Master!" Vivian frowned, clearly dissatisfied with his dismissive expression, "You said that if we met outside Gallia, you’d agree to date me! You can’t go back on your word!"

Leon Sterling looked up at the ceiling, speechless as the airport announcements followed one after another, "Looks like you don’t want your luggage."

Vivian, about to burst into tears, glared at Leon Sterling but was at a loss. Suddenly, she snorted at him indignantly, then turned and smiled at Ruby Sullivan, "Miss, can I have your contact information?"

Looking at her sweet smile, Ruby Sullivan felt a sense of déjà vu and, despite Leon Sterling’s various looks, happily exchanged phone numbers with her, even mentioning her own place and inviting her over sometime.

Well, she had no friends in Meridia either. The more friends, the more opportunities, haha.

She met Leon Sterling’s icy glare and felt a little guilty, suppressing her entertained grin.

Leon Sterling was dissatisfied inside, but looking at her playful expression, couldn’t help but chuckle, "Let’s go quickly, before we can’t shake her off."

With that, he pushed the luggage with one hand and Ruby Sullivan’s back with the other, quickly leaving the airport.

Once in the car, assured that Vivian hadn’t followed, Leon Sterling let out a sigh of relief.

Ruby Sullivan swapped her non-prescription glasses for sunglasses, teasing him unwittingly, "That little girl can’t eat you up, look how scared you are."

Leon Sterling shuddered dramatically, saying exaggeratedly, "I’m twelve years older than her; I don’t want a daughter."

Ruby Sullivan carefully backed the car, nodding, "Twelve years is a bit much." She then grinned slyly, "Then how about considering Naomi Sinclair?"

"Just drive, thank you," Leon Sterling removed his hat, placing it over his face. His biological clock was acting up, making him very sleepy.

After lunch, Leon Sterling played with the two kids for a while. Once they went to sleep, he went to the kitchen to cut a plate of fruit.

Ruby Sullivan was busy in the lab.

Young’s side had sent feedback via email, saying there were issues with the Daydream formula during the preparation process; even though they followed her formula instructions repeatedly, they were unsuccessful and couldn’t find the cause.

Ruby Sullivan was watching videos; although the shooting process was detailed, it wasn’t like being on-site, and she couldn’t immediately identify the problem.

Leon Sterling knocked on the door, calling out, "Time for some fruit."

Ruby Sullivan opened the door, grabbed a piece of apple and stuffed it into her mouth, mumbling, "Sorry, I have work today, might not have time to accompany you."

Leon Sterling seemed a bit disappointed but pretended not to care, "I’m not a guest; you carry on."

He sheepishly retreated to the living room with the fruit, Mama Bennett laughed and said, "She never eats in the lab, worried it might affect the scents inside."

Leon Sterling nodded, "That’s why..." He thought for a moment, then asked, "Has she found a new job?"

"No, she said it’s still work from The Sterling Group. Seems it needs to be completed before she can move on," Mama Bennett said, trying her best to explain, as she didn’t quite understand Ruby Sullivan’s work either.

"Oh, thank you."

"Mr. Sterling, if there’s nothing else, I’ll go take a nap."

"Alright, please go ahead." Leon Sterling turned, sat on the sofa, looked at the plate of fruit with a sigh, stuffed a piece of apple into his mouth, and, feeling sleepy, decided to use his coat as a blanket and just make do on the sofa.

When Ruby Sullivan came out to use the restroom, seeing Leon Sterling on the sofa, she quickly went to the room and grabbed a summer blanket, covering him.

Leon Sterling was awakened by the noise, opened his eyes to look at her, "Finished working?"

Ruby Sullivan pursed her lips, "Uh... restroom." Finished speaking, she left him and hurried to the bathroom.

Leon Sterling chuckled lightly, at that moment, feeling she had changed somewhat. When she came out of the bathroom, he hurriedly called to her, "Actually, I rented a place in this neighborhood. If work doesn’t demand it, I might settle here for a while."

Ruby Sullivan froze, initially wanting to return quickly to review the video again, but his words left her momentarily puzzled, "It’s not... for me, is it?"

"Can’t it be?" He looked down at her, eyes earnest.

Starting from being friends, can’t it be?

"You can settle here, but if it’s for me, no." Ruby Sullivan responded to his gaze firmly, with no hesitation in her voice.

"OK." Leon Sterling sighed, turned, and flopped back onto the sofa, "I’m tired, need sleep." Saying that, he flipped the summer blanket over his head.

Ruby Sullivan shook her head with amusement, hurrying back to continue her work. If she still couldn’t find the cause, she might have to return before Dina Finn’s wedding.
