Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 153: Pushed Too Far
Ruby Sullivan wanted to deal with this matter like a woman from the streets, perhaps by going up and smashing Rhonda Sullivan’s mouth, or even sewing it shut with a needle, so she would know what thoughts she should and shouldn’t have. But she wanted to save face for Ethan Sterling.
To be honest, she really couldn’t understand what was going on between Ethan and Rhonda.
When he was with her, he was worried the child would be sick, saying all sorts of reasons not to have it. But now with Rhonda, he didn’t worry? Yet, he cares so much about this child, he hasn’t treated her badly at all, which is so unlike the Ethan Sterling Ruby knows.
She had been suppressing these questions, wanting to muddle through life with Ethan, thinking if she was good and he was good, everything would be fine. Unexpectedly, the other person truly took an inch and demanded a mile.
She took a deep breath, shook off Ethan’s hand from the back of her hand, leaned impatiently on the sofa, and turned away from that woman, afraid she’d lose control.
Ethan Sterling straightened his lips, suppressing his anger, "Rhonda Sullivan, leave The Sterling Family immediately, don’t make me say it a second time."
Rhonda looked at his profile, her heart skipped a beat but she refused to back down.
The actions over there needed to be halted for now. Dr. L refused to assist her, and what she could do now was use the child in her belly to threaten Ethan Sterling. Someone with nothing to lose fears nothing; if she couldn’t secure a status in The Sterling Family, wouldn’t all her suffering be for nothing?
"I won’t leave!"
Rhonda stood up, afraid her momentum would weaken. She took a deep breath and mocked, "Ruby Sullivan, Ethan sneaks out to see me in the middle of the night, and don’t say you don’t know where he goes. Aren’t you ridiculous for wanting to hold on to the position of Mrs. Sterling?"
"Shut up!" Ethan Sterling also stood up, glaring at her.
Rhonda was so scared she shrunk her neck and instinctively took two steps back, bumping into the coffee table and almost falling. Fortunately, Ethan quickly grabbed her.
One moment, she felt aggrieved, the next, looking at him, her heart softened, "Ethan, I can endure for The Sterling Group temporarily, but now I want you to clarify in front of this woman, when you’ll divorce her, and when you’ll marry me..."
Rhonda’s eyes shimmered with tears. If not for Ruby Sullivan’s appearance, she would’ve been his wife by now. If fate hadn’t been so unfair to her, she would’ve already been holding shares of The Sterling Group as Mrs. Sterling.
But now, she had nothing, only the child in her belly.
"After you give birth." Ethan replied clearly.
As the words fell, Ruby felt her heart shatter on the ground. If it wasn’t for Honey’s bone marrow, she truly wanted to return to The Lawson Group and fulfill these two wretched people, and from here on, she just needed to obediently help her master ruin The Sterling Group, and they’d be left with nothing.
Surely, that would be a thousand times more satisfying than being Mrs. Sterling.
But she was also helpless.
Ruby gave a faint smile, put down her crossed legs, and stood up, "I’ll go check how the kids’ barbecue is doing."
Rhonda watched her back, gently hugged Ethan, and said hoarsely, "I knew you wouldn’t give up on me and the child."
"Go back with Iris, and stop making trouble." Ethan’s voice softened.
"I haven’t eaten anything today, didn’t have any appetite, how about you join me for a meal?" Rhonda blinked her eyes, dramatically acting pitiful, her gaze at him full of expectation.
"I need to stay home with the kids today, maybe another day." Ethan didn’t want the situation to get worse. Since Ruby had already misunderstood, he could only adopt a soft approach to calm Rhonda down and stop her from causing more scenes.
He still remembered what the doctor had said before and was very worried about the child in her belly.
Rhonda’s goal today was to anger Ruby, hopefully making her overwhelmed and leave The Sterling house herself. She had been a little princess since childhood, with a head full of unrealistic fantasies, even turning such a failed marriage with Ethan into a novel-like storyline of love after marriage. How could such a woman withstand the blow of reality?
She didn’t believe Ruby could simply change her outward appearance and discard the temperament built over twenty-plus years!
She was convinced Ruby was still the original timid fool, believing in the world’s inherent goodness.
So Rhonda hugged Ethan even tighter, seeing that Ruby hadn’t yet left the living room, purposely raising her voice, "I just want you to have a meal with me, you can still be with the kids afterward. I not eating is nothing, but the little one in my belly must eat; are you willing to let your son go hungry?"
Listening to her coquettish voice, Ruby’s hand was on the doorknob yet she didn’t turn it, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Why should she have to leave?
Even if she wanted to whisper sweet nothings with Ethan, she couldn’t do it in her face, not in her home! She was the rightful Mrs. Sterling, the mistress of this house. How meek must she be to pretend she hadn’t seen a thing?
Ruby took a deep breath, suddenly turned around, and with a fierce look, walked toward the two of them hugging together.
Rhonda looked at her face, a sneer forming at the corner of her mouth, deliberately hiding in Ethan’s embrace, "What are you going to do?"
Ethan had his back to Ruby, although he couldn’t see her, he could hear her angry footsteps, instinctively holding Rhonda to protect her.
This action deeply chilled Ruby to the bone.
She sneered, grabbed Rhonda’s hair, and pulled her away, "Rhonda Sullivan, you really think I’m still the docile little lamb, don’t you?" She pulled without care, as if trying to yank her hair out by the roots.
"Ruby, calm down." Ethan held Rhonda with one arm, trying to pry Ruby’s hand off with the other, but only seemed to enhance the force of hair pulling.
Rhonda’s scalp was almost deformed from the pull, painfully howling, clutching her head, crying and yelling, "Bitch, let go... Ah, Ethan, it hurts, make her let go!"
"Ruby Sullivan!" Ethan, panicked, could only release Rhonda, forcibly prying Ruby’s hand away and pushing her to the side.
Ruby wished she could channel all her strength into her hands, but with Ethan’s interference, she suddenly lost balance, stumbling several steps back. Just as she was about to regain her footing, she stepped on something uneven and twisted her ankle, falling to the ground, her back hitting the grandfather clock in the living room hard.
Iris cried out in pain, stamping her foot and muttering, "Oh, that almost killed me."
Ethan exhaled, intending to comfort the startled Rhonda when Mama Bennett came running over in a panic. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Miss Ruby, what happened to you?"
Ethan turned his head, only to see a pool of blood spreading larger under Ruby.
