Chapter 64: A good girl - I

"So?" Salvatore asked for further details.

"I followed them to a small Bakery which is just a little walk from the campus. They ordered pastries. Then they sat there talking together and the order came in. Before they could finish even one piece Julian had entered with your phone call." Timothy answered.

"That’s it?’ Salvatore questioned. "What happened after Evelyn picked up the phone call?"

" From what Julian told me, Mister Rosario was actually supportive of what you did."

"Oh," Salvatore cocked a brow up, "was he?" Intelligent was something he had not preceived Evelyn’s friend to be.

Timothy nodded. "He said that it was necessary and their fathers had done it a million times which the madam was aware of." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Hmm," Salvatore drummed his fingers over the armrest of the chair. "I don’t want any kind of meetings like that. Take care of it Timothy." The soldier nodded and with a respectful bow of his head he left the office of the Don.

Just as the door closed and Salvatore found himself in silence it opened again and his Consigliere Dante entered the room.

"Is it something important that you want to talk about?" He threw the rude question out without any remorse. "If there is nothing important to talk about you can leave."

Dante chuckled. "I want to know why you even try. That has never done it before and to be honest you have also shot me." He then proceeded to add a little piece of information with a cheeky grin, " which you missed."

"Purposely so," Salvatore added, "now you make me regret the decision of letting you live."

It was one of those stressful moments where Salvatore wanted to be alone and think about it but when a persistent Dante did not leave him alone the only thing Salvatore could think of doing was having his gun in his hand to threaten it bjt short rang out through the room before he could even realise. Thankfully it was a shot in the blind and it hit her head Dante in the stomach.

"Nevermind that," Dante waved of the past memories. "What I want to know is why one of our best trackers and guards, Timothy, is following around a girl that is not important at all."

Then took a seat in front of Salvatore while his ankle came over his knee as he let his arms drop onto the armrest with leisure.

Salvatore huffed. "Concern yourself with the matters given to you."

Dante stared at him before shrugging, "Alright." He said.

"Mother thinks that Evelyn will be a good match for me. What do you think?"

An evident frown came on the Don’s forehead. "What makes her think that?"

Dante chuckled. "why not? Evelyn is beautiful and young. We have an age gap of merely eight years and she comes from a family that is in a background similar to us. If anything it would only secure a place inside our family and her father’s organisation will also be in our hands. Not only that but the 30% of profits that she is getting would be inside the family."

Salvatore glared at him. " We don’t need the measly 30% of the profits that she is getting. What will you do with that money?"

"It is not what I will do with that money, brother," Dante pointed out, "to someone else and criminal organisations that have lower budgets than us that money can be a game changer."

That Salvatore had no doubt it could.

The money that Evelyn received from her father’s organisation was enough to turn around any budget of the Mafia that was struggling. It was millions of dollars at once and if not it could actually reach hundreds because Salvatore knew that his father was going to expand the reach.

Dante was right there. Not only was Evelyn a target for the protection of his family, she was actually a gold mine.

"But why you?" Salvatore asked. "You are as ugly as a horse’s ass."

Dante coughed. "If I look like a horse’s ass, you are a donkey, you know that?"

"I have a gun and a knife on me."

"Still donkeys are always considered handsome as compared to horses." Dante rushed out. "Never mind that and tell me are you going to make a claim. Otherwise I would like to go forward."

Salvatore narrowed his eyes at the word claim. So the rumours were already up and the only person that he had talked to about it was his own brother, Marcelo.

"Whether I make a claim or not she is still off limits. If she is in protection of the family is not marrying inside it."

Dante shook his head. "Not anymore. That is what usually happens with cousins no matter what sequence, that might be in 5th or 6th, but we have no blood relations with Evelyn."

Dante gave him a huge grin. "Do you know what that means brother? She is a fair game."

"No, she’s not." Salvatore whispered. "She is not fair game."

Dante stared right into the eyes of the don without any fear. "If you don’t want that to happen you make a clean. If you are not sure about her, make her your girlfriend first."

Dante had been one of his closest friends and surgeons going up and it only made Salvatore confide in him more. "I don’t want her to be brought into this life. She was born in it but she has a chance of marrying out of it."

"She was born in it," Dante repeated, " which makes the reality as hard as it is. She was born and she can not leave it without dying. If anyone ever wants to stand against us or her organisation, she will be the first person to attack and if she is away from us we can protect her."

Fucking sad reality but it was as true as it got.

"You know that she is a sweet woman who understands the lifestyle will live." Dante said with a knowing look in his eyes. "This is as good as it gets, Salvatore."
