Chapter 60: Hugs and breakfast- I

There was only one thing that Evelyn could do on the spot that would not cause more problems than she already had. That was to admit that she had done something wrong.

"I was not trying to avoid you, I just. . ." She gulped and gave him a very small shrug. "I was missing my father and I just wanted to be alone."

Salvatore cocked up a brow, "Your father?"

Evelyn nodded as she sent a silent prayer to God to forgive her for using her dead father’s name but she was missing him to be honest not just to the extent that she was going to tell Salvatore about.

"I was missing him and I have been trying but I did not want you to know. It was just that I wanted to be alone." She explained and he sighed heavily.

"Evelyn, if you think your father’s death has been too much, would you like to go to a therapist?" He titled his head. " I can have the best one in the country attend to you."

Wow, that was something Evelyn was surely not expecting. The don being that caring to her kind of scared her a little.

"No, thank you," she gave him a small smile, "I think I just had to take some time to get over it. The shift to your parents’ house was too soon and I am okay with it now." Only God knew where those lies were coming from.

However half it was still true. Evelyn did feel that the shift to his parents house was where she imagined and it had affected her slightly. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

She would have preferred to have some time alone in her house but then again she understood that Angelo was only providing help with the protection that her father once did and he had to do it at the earliest because she had seen how greedy her relatives could be.

Those were her father’s blood brothers and her aunt had sworn to her mother on her deathbed that they would take care of her.

Salvatore nodded and Evelyn let out a sigh of relief. She slightly shook herself out of the feelings that were of the past.

"Would you like to go back to the university now or do you want to have a day off?"

"I would like to go back to university." Replied she. Evelyn could do anything other than sitting at home and resting all day. That was something she had experienced all her life and for the first time she could go out physically.

Due to the threats placed on her because of her father’s business Evelyn often had to stay inside the home and learn for the best tutors but it was still not better than learning outside or in a classroom.

Salvatore gave her a curt nod before standing up and walking around the table to her. He held his hand out and she glanced at it once before checking it. Once they stood up Evelyn smiled and they were finally going to leave.

Just as they wished to the door Salvatore stopped walking and she turned to him quizzically.

"What?" Evelyn asked him wondering why did he stop all of a sudden when she felt her breast against his chest and his arms being wrapped around her body. A warm feeling spread inside her, making her freeze.

Evelyn stood still for a second before realising what was happening. Salvatore was hugging her.

She could feel the warmth through his waistcoat and her heart flutter if they had not already missed the beat. She kept on staring at the door as her cheek was pressed to his chest wondering what the hell happened and how it did.

Evelyn could not even close her mouth or blink her eyes at the shop she felt. Salvatore D’alessandro; the Don of a criminal organisation known worldwide was hugging her, willingly?

She gulped. "Um . .don?" She started out very hesitantly. "It’s me. . . Evelyn?"

"I know," he said as he tightened his arms around her even more. Evelyn was pushed to his chest making her breasts squish amongst them.

She gasped at the sudden feeling.

Her knees buckled and she felt thankful to him very slightly for he was holding her through it and did not let meet the ground.

She could not believe it.

Evelyn did not know how many moments passed as listed in the arms of each other or more like her standing in the arms of the don. After what it seemed like to be eternity he pulled back yet his hands remained on her shoulders, holding them as he looked at her.

"Are you alright now?" He asked and she saw the worry in his eyes.

She nodded. "I am good. Thank you?"

Thankfully Salvatore did not seem to notice how Evelyn had questionly thanked him.

He nodded and opened the door for her. Just as he thought that he would leave after sending her away with Julian, Salvatore managed to prove her wrong by walking into the lift with her as Julian stood in front of them facing the lift.

He did not leave Evelyn’s hand. They walked out of the left on the ground floor. She could feel the eyes of everyone even though everyone looked away in record time. No one wanted to be caught staring at the Don.

Evelyn almost fainted out of horror when he opened the door for her in public.

"Call me if you feel like that again," he said, looming over the car door not closing a short immediately after she sat inside, "if you don’t want to talk to me I have my aunt on my sister talk to you. Is that alright with you?"

She nodded in a flash.

He nodded and stepped back before closing the door. Julian sar in the passenger seat and once again the familiar man, who Evelyn did not know, started to drive the car.

She gulped.

Was it just her thinking that or it actually happen?

This time Julian and the other guy had given her to the university which Evelyn was thankful for.

At least this time they had dropped her to the right destination. A destination where she actually wanted to go.

Julian got out of the car and opened her door. Evelyn got out but this time did not bother thanking him. Julian should have been responsible enough to tell her where he was taking her. To think about it Evelyn would actually pick it up with Salvatore so that if he was ever kidnapping her, she would know what to do.

Loyalties to change within a second. It won’t be the first time Evelyn witnessed that.

To her surprise just as she entered the campus she could see Giovanni waiting for her.

Not thinking much about it as well and moved her eyes to where she wanted to go because he could be waiting for someone else but just as she did he called out her name making her turn around and look at him.

"I don’t think we were able to talk much when the Don was there." Gio said as he rubbed the back of his head uneasily.

Evelyn knew that both of them were aware of the fact that Salvatore was sitting there for this very reason. He did not want them to talk freely and he wanted to remind her friend of his presence and the power he held.

Salvatore wanted Giovanni to know what it meant if you were never going to apologize to Evelyn again.

She nodded. "I don’t think there was much to say, Gio. I understand that this could happen once but I would really like it if it’s never repeated again."

"Yes," he nodded, "Totally." He said before giving her a narrow eyed look before breaking into a huge smile. Evelyn could not resist and looked away before showing her teeth too.

"So, breakfast?" He asked with hopeful eyes looking at her. "I know you don’t have your first lecture for at least an hour. I could easily take you and bring you back to the campus."

Evelyn did not expect to get the offer out of nowhere. In fact she had not expected him to continue talking to her at all.

Nonetheless, she knew the value of a friend and a friend who came from a good family. Giovanni’s family also respected her which is why she nodded her head, compromising a little on the situation.

"I think we can go somewhere nearby. And really not looking forward to being late." She told him pointedly that she was not sure if you pay attention to with a huge smile on his face. It was obvious that he was focusing on the win more.

"Done." He winked. "Anything else that needs to be noted, my lord?"

"Yes," Evelyn retorted back dryly, "at the end it would be my lady given my gender is female."

Giovanni chakkar before grabbing her hand and leading her out of the campus. Evelyn huffed. Breakfast won’t hurt.
