Chapter 114: No more a party - II

Alexis chuckled and that took Evelyn by surprise.

"Don’t get me wrong." Alexis warned as she raised finger. "Let me get this out of the way so that I do not pity you in any kind of way. All I do is treat you how you are supposed to be Evelyn."

"But being in protection does not mean that you have to give me space in your house. There are many that could have just. ." Sidelined her.

Why was she even having this kind of conversation? Why was she having this conversation with Alexis out of all? She was the closest link to Angelo and not only that but she was the weakest one which meant that Angelo probably protected her the most the most.

Somehow it spelt wrong but also right to talk to Alexus about it. She was the only one in the house that could have no hidden intent.

Evelyn was not exactly the most innocent person in the house as she came from a family in the similar background but in more ways than one she was similar to Alexis because she did not know what happened in an organisation either.

"I won’t do that." Alexis gave her a pointed look. "No matter what happens I am not going to do that."

Her words did not seem like a statement but like a promise that she made to Evelyn. Evelyn chuckled a little. That was truly unexpected.

"Thank you for that." Evelyn smiled hoping to cut it out now but Alexis had caught onto it.

"I have had four children that have been around your age. Four children that had every opportunity to hide would have been doing it, yet I got onto them."

For once the eyes that Alexis looked at her with seemed to be the same that her family had. "I am not going to pressurize you into saying things and reveal them if you don’t want to. But I am obligated to tell you, if you ever feel the need to talk to someone I am there. So, do not go around and create problems for yourself that none of us can solve."

Evelyn’s mouth opened and closed as she thought of something to say but came up silent.

The words seemed to be like a good morning. A warning of something Alexis knew might happen.

Evelyn gulped. "I don’t think that’s ever going to happen, Ma’am."

"Alexis." She corrected Evelyn before coming back to what the later said, "that was what I have thought with all four of my children but here we are. Sometimes we will find ourselves in trouble unknowingly." That was said while Alexis looked at her knowingly.

"I won’t do anything like that." Evelyn denied the possibility. "I am not going to betray you or your family."

Evelyn did not think of betraying the family. That was not because they were dangerous and they could kill her but also the fact that they had given her loyalty that her own family members could have taken her in.

There was also the fact that they were dangerous and it would not even take them second to erase her existence from the world.

Alexis laughed at that. "My darling, I might look harmless but when it comes to my children I don’t stand for that."

Alexis sobered up the gaze she had matched her husband. "Don’t even think of doing that aur joking about it. That is something Angelo takes very seriously and that is something I would not be able to defend you on."

"Isn’t that something that every Boss considers to be very serious?"

"Yes, well probably." Alexis shrugged. "But after going to jail himself, Angelo. . won’t tolerate it."

That was something Evelyn had heard about. But she had never had any one validated for horror. It was a fleeting rumour that she had heard which now seems to be true since she had heard it from the wife of the man itself.

Angelo D’alessandro was actually someone who had been to jail and Evelyn could not believe it.

"Alright," Alexis stood up and so did Evelyn. "I have to go and change. We will continue this conversation some other day when you find time for it." She winked at her. "Come down stairs ontime, alright?"

Evelyn nodded and before she knew Alexis closed the door on her way out leaving Evelyn to stand alone in the room.

Just as Evelyn was about to sit down again she heard a knock on her door and assumed that it was Agatha. It was something that Agatha always did. She would come 10 minutes before dinner to warn Evelyn about the time.

"Come in!" She shouted knowing that the walls were thick.

"Hey," Salvatore under the room and closed the door behind him. "Why did you not come down?"

Evelyn felt her mouth dry slightly and that was enough for her to delay the answer which the Don caught onto pretty quickly.

Salvatore sighed and stepped closer to her before kneeling in front of her. "I understand that my father, especially when alone, can be pretty daunting." He took her hand in his. " I apologize for sending you to him but if we are going to continue seeing each Other you need to stand up for yourself in his presence."

So that was what Salvatore was doing?

"Is that why you let me go to him alone?" Salvatore gave her a nod. "But I don’t appreciate it, Salvatore. Especially when it was the news of us dating that you made me tell him." She retorted back quite sharply not like how he had thrown her under the bus.

He squeezed her hand. "I would never do that to you, Evelyn. But do you think that if my father wanted to ask me about it he would have involved you?"

If she thought about it he was right.

"See?" He said pointedly. "I want to talk to you, which is why I didn’t come. If we end up marrying each other there are going to be a lot of one on one talks with him."

Evelyn’e breath hitched.
