Chapter 113: No more a party - I

After some time, Evelyn had no idea how long it was her cries were reduced to small hiccups and sobs.

She sniffed lovely trying to get rid of the snot but she failed miserably in doing so.

"Here," Alexis extended her arm that was full sleeves with cotton cloth. "Wipe it."

Evelyn looked at Alexis horrified by what she had said. She shook her head side to side refusing to do it.

Alexis chuckled. "I have had four children who wiped their snot and vomited on me. Now I have two grandchildren to do it. I don’t think I would mind if you do it as well."

Evelyn refused to believe that Alexis was actually offering her something like that. However she is able to why was not on the sleeve of a woman that was the mother and former donna of an organisation so huge and dangerous?

"Thank you, Donna." She said but ended up sniffing loudly at the end of it. "I can’t do that.’

"Yes, you can." Alexis said rather sternly and nudged her arm upwards. "Go ahead." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Evelyn glanced at the sleeves before wiping her snot away. "Thank you." She peeked at Alexis shyly.

" No worries," Alexis said and stood up before offering a hand to Evelyn. "There is going to be some time for my children to arrive until then do you want to go to your room? It is still the same and has been cleaned."

Did she want to?

Evelyn looked to wear she had previously come from before meeting Alexis. The same hallway where she had been with Angelo in his office.

It was overwhelming to say the least and she was in no mood to speak with his son who was the root cause of all of this.

Who was to say that Salvatore had no hand in this? If he did, Evelyn refused to face him and at the moment she had nothing but doubts regarding the whole matter in her mind.

She sighed and shook her head. This was not good.

"I think I would like to go to the room for some time." She admitted and Alexis smiled before leading her to her room. There was silent on the way as they walked to the similar hallway where Evelyn had been countless Times.

Alexis opened the door for her and patted her back with a smile. "You know how to win the staff quarters. If there is anything that you want to not hesitate."

Evelyn stayed at the women who had graciously offered her her house and room inside with unlimited amenities. If anything is she had never found Alexis to differ between her and her children.

"I want to ask you something." Evelyn said very cautiously.

"Alright," Alexis agreed. "Is it going to take time? If it is going to then I would like to sit."

Evelyn hurriedly and stepped back making Alexis step inside before closing the way and shutting the door to the room.

Alexis took a seat on the two chairs that had one table in between them. It was on the corner of the room.

Evelyn took the seat that was in front of Alexis and nodded at her. "Do you understand what it means to offer protection?"

Alexis frowned upon that, very lightly. "Angelo has told me what it entails. But if I am doing anything wrong you can tell me about it."

"Oh no, I did not mean that." Evelyn denied the allegation. If anything, Alexis had been a very gracious host. "I was just asking that because I have seen you be a better host that anyone else. I did not expect that from you since you were . .a . ."

"A civilian? Innocent? Who married into the family?" Alexis provided with the words and just when everyone thought that she would be frustrated or annoyed Alexis actually gave her a beaming smile as if she had been anticipating that.

"I understand where you come from heaven. I have heard a lot of things about that and about me, trust me." She chuckled, " but there is only something that I can do in this life because I do not get involved a lot and this is one of them."

So it was true then. Alexis was really not involved in a lot of things and she was aware about it?

"Do you not want to get involved?" Evelyn did not think before she asked that question. "If it was anyone else they would have tried to get inside and see what was going on."

Alexis did not look quiet pleased to hear that and Evelyn just noticed that. Alexis for previously smiling At The curiosity shown by Evelyn but now it seems to right she was. . sad.

"I didn’t mean to offend you in any way." Evelyn licked her lip nervously. "I’m very sor—"

"To answer your question," Alexis cut her off, "I would say that for me ignorance is a bliss. I know what goes on and and I can imagine the horrorfics inside it. But I refuse to look inside and. . . Only have my helplessness validated because I cannot change it." She sighed loudly. "I do not know a lot, Evelyn and Angelo makes sure that I do not know anything and I want it to be that way. There are times when I can bring change and I do not hesitate to stand my ground on that but other than that," she huffed, "I stay away."

Oh.

Evelyn nodded indicating that she had accepted the answer given to her by Alexis. At least she had been honest. Maybe because Alexis was an innocent that had married into the household it affected the way she behaved.

But no matter what ever landed or just she could not forget the main question that was in her mind, roaming around and around in circles waiting to be asked.

"Why do you treat me so well?" Evelyn whispered in embarrassment. "Admin anyone else I would have been given a corner or an apartment to live in. Nobody would have honestly bothered with me that much."
