Chapter 115: No more a party - III

She considered what to say to him. Something that would not offend him and something that would make it clear to him that the future was unforeseen.

"I think I need a lot of courage for that." She chuckled and he smiled. "However, we have just begun dating Salvatore. Why do we not leave it to fate?"

He hummed loudly before standing up and pulled her up by the hand that he was holding. Once she stood beside him, Salvatore sat down on the chair previously occupied by her and then pulled her into his lap.

"Now," he pulled her close and practically whispered the words in her ear, "if I leave everything to fate then I will have nothing in my hands and I do not plan on that."

She shivered at the contact of his lips brushing over the shell of her ear again and again.

"What I want is something I have to take for myself, Evelyn. And you are not going away."

The word held a meaning that she knew every word of. Evelyn breathed heavily before pulling away slightly but his hands on her waist kept her close.

"Where do you plan to go, Evelyn?’ He teased her. "You can’t leave me." He murmured as he nuzzled into her making Evelyn smile and giggled at the ticklish feeling that his stubbe caused.

She smiled and peered into his eyes. "Should we not go down to your family? They must be here for dinner and I don’t think that we should keep them waiting."

Salvatore nodded and before she knew he was holding her hand and walking her down the stairs. This time when they descended the stairs, twins ran into their arms and Evelyn was shocked to find Vittorio had jumped on her with a happy smile on his face.

"Hi!" Evelyn picked him and made him sit on the side of her waist. "How have you been?"

"Good." He smiled and clung onto her as a villain carried him over to the dinner table. Once everyone had taken their seats, Evelyn noticed that the only empty chair she could find for herself was beside Salvatore.

She could not help but glance at Angelo who was still sitting at the head chair of the table. Was he the reason for this? But it was not at all likely for a made man to be interested in the house matters especially when it came to a sitting program when it was just his family.

Maybe it was Alexis and she had assumed that since they were dating it would be right for them to sit together and side by side instead of sitting at two different corners of the table.

Sitting next to him made Evelyn slightly conscious of a self. Even if he was the dawn that bothered with nothing He was still well mannered and was probably the most well educated and mannered person that she had known.

Imagine her picking the wrong fork in front of him.

She shook her head. What was she thinking about? Has her life really come to think about such matters?

"Evelyn," Bella whispered and passed over the plate of potatoes in her hand over to Evelyn. "Eat. If you are still able to get breakfast tomorrow morning then you have not eaten enough."

"That’s not true Evelyn," Alexis intervened as she gave a pointed look to her daughter. "Eat as much as you want and if you want I will have the leftovers sent with you."

Evelyn nodded but not not voice out her thoughts. She was not sure about it but she could feel the eyes of Antonio, Bella’s husband, on her.

"Evelyn," Antonio spoke up, making Evelyn halls in her actions. The spoon that was about to go in her mouth filled with food froze mid-air as she turned to look at Antonio.

"Yes?’ she whispered, mindful of the fact that everyone was listening to the conversation.

"I heard that you went to meet Aldo mancini. Is everything alright with them?" He asked her that so casually that Evelyn wondered what was his reason to do that.

Also why did he think that this was the right time to ask about that?

Evelyn became very much aware of the tightening of Salvatore’s hand on her. The grip had tightened to the extent where she knew it would cause a little bit of redness.

"It was a good visit. Aldo would take time to recover though." She kept it brief and short, having no reason to give him the details of something that he should not be concerned with.

"That’s nice," he commented, "however, I hope you did not make any promises to visit them any further."

"Why?" She drawled out the word a little glancing at Angelo and then Alexis before going back to internal. What was he talking about?

Angelo replied to her query. "You are officially with my son. It does not look nice that you visit someone else who is in bed, sick and frail." He finally looked up from his plate and the person he looked at was Evelyn. "I don’t want anyone to think of him as a lover of yours that you still have feelings for."

Bella hummed loudly and took the attention of the room towards her. "You should ask her if he is a lover or not. Who knows what Aldo Mancini could turn out to be."

Evelyn gaped at all of them. What was he doing? Were they openly targeting her in front of everyone and at the dining table that she had been invited to by them?

Evelyn felt something on her but brushed it off as nothing. Stare at all of them who were busy eating their food as if they had not just accused her of having feelings for someone while she was in a relationship with their family member.

That was practically cheating and cheating not going to get her anywhere in this relationship other than a coffin six feet on the ground. Those six feet inside the ground will be lucky if they don bother with it otherwise it would be a shallow grave.

When she felt a light tap on her thigh, Evelyn looked down to find Salvatore patting her thigh rhythmically.

She stared at his hand which was patting her before it clicked.

Evelyn straightened her back and took a sip of a wine before she addressed everyone. "I do not have any feelings for Aldo. His family had been there for me when my father passed away, especially his mother, so I paid my respect to her along with my condolences. Apart from the fact that he has been a very dear friend to me since we were growing up, I felt it was important for me to visit his house in regards to the fact that he also knew my father personally and my father would have done this."

Chalo that everyone in the I. She looked at Antonio, Bella Rosa and Angelo before speaking up again, "Is there anything else that you would like to have cleared up? I think we have the time to do it now.’

The rhythmic pats of his hand on her thigh stopped and the grip remained.

Silence descended the entire dining room and no one breathed out a word before Alexis gave the three of them a pointed look.

"Apologize for that, Evelyn," Alexis gave her a warm smile, "this would not happen again."

When she said that it was more like a warning that she gave to the three of them. Neither of the three looked up but she could say that Bella Rosa and Antonio were visibly uncomfortable. So was Angelo behind this? Because only he was the one that could question anyone’s decisions and maybe Bella Rosa and Antonio had just been puppets in this game.

Focused on eating her food but her mind ran into the direction of how and you could have played the game in his office as well. It was way too confusing for her to focus on one thought because there were many questions regarding what he had done or what he could be doing.

Which is why she decided to let it go for now. With one hand holding the fork, Evelyn reached for the glass of water before noticing something on her ring finger of left hand.

She noticed a ring which had its diamonds twinkling under the lights of the dining room. The band was silver and it had two lines of small black diamonds.

It was plain but it also gave the look of authority and power which made Evelyn place her hand back on her thigh and look over to Salvatore.

She glanced over to where his hand was on her thigh which was his left hand and that could answer the question very well.

The don usually go to rings on his ring single. One was the signet of the family and the other was telling that was able to go to the Donna.

One of the two was missing.
