During the following days, Jane Sampson devoted all her time to work, becoming the person in the film crew who started work with Daniel Taylor every day and also returned with him the latest.

Even when she had finished her scenes and removed her makeup, she did not rush back to the hotel, but stayed on set to learn from others while taking on her role as the temporary doctor.

She closely monitored Daniel Taylor’s meals and work hours every day.

Jane Sampson must be his auntie or some other closely related relative from his wife’s side.

After the daily training was over, James Black returned to his office. His mobile phone lay on the desktop, and after entering, he glanced at the phone before expressionlessly pouring himself a cup of water to drink.

"Report!" William King, holding documents, called out from the doorway.

"Come in," James Black turned around to look at the person entering through the door, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, "When did you get the sex-change surgery? Make your steps bigger, don’t walk like you’re mincing!"

William King’s scalp tingled. Ouch, Chief Black’s foul mood had lasted quite a long time.

A half month had passed, and why was the Chief still in such a foul temper, ready to snap at and clean up anyone he met?

In the past half month, there had been no one in the guard team daring to sneak away for a smoke. After each training session, even the most rambunctious ones avoided the entertainment room, fearing they might run into Chief Black if they were unlucky.

"Chief, this is a new document from above for you to review," said William King as he placed the documents on the desk and quickly moved to a corner to wait for orders, unwilling to say an extra word or even summon the courage to take another look at his chief.

There must be absolutely no eye contact or interaction with the Chief.

After all, that could be life-threatening.

Having read the documents, James Black scowled, "This kind of mission? We, the guard team, will not accept it. What’s the point of bringing a bunch of strange folks into the guard team — to disturb the morale or what?"

"No, Chief," William King shrank slightly, "The document says it’s to improve the image of our defenders and to let the general public gain a deeper understanding of our defenders’ lives. That’s why the leadership believes setting up this show with the guard team would be very beneficial and meaningful."

William King paused and added, "The leaders said if Chief Black does not agree, then he should treat this document as a team order to execute."

So, everyone knew just what kind of temper Chief Black had.

It is the sacred duty of the guards to obey orders. Hence, with a grim face, James Black signed the document and took possession of it.

William King thought, his days ahead might get even tougher.
