CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 54: Forget the Contract

It was almost lunchtime when they arrived at Henry’s mansion in Brookgrove. Martha, the housekeeper in that mansion welcomes them with a hearty lunch. She’s older than Demi, with white hair, and wrinkly skin but elegant looking for her age.

She’s been with the Welsh longer than Charles and Demi. She used to work for the grandparents of Henry and took care of Trev and Henry’s dad when they were young.

"This must be Amy, your family talked a lot about you and Jena misses you so much," Martha said as she warmly hugged Amy and then Henry after.

"This is Martha, the boss of this place," Henry and Martha both chuckled at Henry’s quip. "I lived here during my college years," he added. They all soon went in after all the pleasantries and Martha directly lead them to the dining hall.

"Jena, Alicia, and Robert are in the hospital, they went there early to calm the nerves of the boy. He will finally undergo his most awaited surgery tomorrow," Martha told them as she help the other maids serve the food.

Henry started to put meat and vegetables on Amy’s plate, choosing the best ones which did not go unnoticed by Martha and Rei’s meticulous eyes. The two keep on glancing at each other, smiling at Henry’s action towards Amy.

After lunch, Henry and Amy together with Rei went to the hospital to see Jayson and bring their gifts to the kids. It has been two weeks since Amy last saw her niece and nephew, she was excited and nervous at the same time.

This operation is the last operation for Jayson and it’s either he will make it and walk again or it will be failure due to the long period of waiting and he will never be able to walk normally again. If the latter will happen then all the hard work that Amy did will be all for nothing.

The doctors and Henry are very positive about the upcoming operation but Amy is preparing herself for the worst outcome. For her, it is better to expect the worst than to be positive about it and then be disappointed later on.

"Aunt Amy!" Jena and Jayson yelped in unison as Amy and Henry enter the VIP room in the hospital.

Jena runs into Amy to give her a big hug. "You’ve grown so big," Amy hugged Jena back and then carry her towards Jayson’s bed.

"How are you, Jayson?" Amy placed a kiss on his head before hugging her nephew.

"I am excited for tomorrow, will you be here tomorrow too?" truly the boy shows nothing but innocence and excitement, not minding the possibility of a failed operation. For him, nothing can go wrong, he believes that as soon as the operation is done, he will be able to walk again, just like what the doctors said.

"Of course, I will be here, I wouldn’t miss it for the world," Amy brushed Jayson’s hair with her fingers as she stares at him lovingly. "Did you behave and do everything that the doctors said?" she asked Jayson.

"Yes! I did, and that’s why tomorrow I will be able to walk again, yey!" Jayson cheered and Jena laughed at him. The kids were still joyful in spite of their situation, they try to find happiness in everything that they do.

Amy on the other hand felt a needle-like pain in her chest while she stares at her niece and nephew cheering each other. She wanted to give them a family, a real one, and adopting them is the closest that she can go but how can she do it if the law in their country does not allow single people to adopt children?

Her attention then turned to Henry who is currently standing near the door with Rei and Tony carrying all the gifts that they bought for the kids. "Oh gosh I almost forgot, sorry for making you carry all these," Amy started to hand over the gifts for Jena and Jayson. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Are these for us?" the two were all smiles and wide eyes while receiving the gifts from Amy and Henry. They can’t seem to decide which one to open first.

"Yes, Uncle Henry and I bought these for you. Do you like it?" Amy’s eyes were already starting to swell while watching the children happily open each gift. It has been a long time since the two received gifts from her. She used to save every penny and coin she has just to pay for their needs, but now she even used up all her last salary plus her bonus to buy them all those without worrying about the hospital bills.

"We love it! Thank you, Aunt Amy, but how about the money, did you save some for yourself?" Jayson asked Amy, he was looking at Amy with concern in his eyes, knowing that their aunt do not waste any cent just to provide for them.

Henry moved closer to Amy and put his arm around her shoulder. He smiled at Jayson and pinch his cheek lightly. "You are a thoughtful young man Jayson, you make us proud," Jayson smiled at his compliment.

"From now on, you don’t have to worry about your aunt, I will take care of her, and not just her. I will take care of you and Jena too. So make sure you will recover fast because I want to visit many different places with you, Jena, and your aunt. Can you promise me that?" he added.

Jayson merrily nodded at him and continued opening his gifts. Amy was overwhelmed by Henry’s words that she hugged Henry without thinking, and soon after her tears started flowing. She cannot control it anymore. It was both tears of joy and sadness. Henry slowly pulled her out of the room so that the kids will not see her crying.

Watching in the corner are Alicia, Robert, and Rei, they were all touched by that scene, something that none of them thought would ever happen in their lifetime.

"Arggh... Those two... they make me want to have a partner in life too," Rei uttered while he was shaking his head and the two elders laughed at his statement.

"No one is stopping you, son, I’d say you should get one. Who knows you might get lucky like me," Robert proudly expressed as he pulled Alicia by the waist to move closer to him.

Alicia chuckled at him and playfully hit his chest, "There’s no need to hurry dear, you’ll find the right one in time," and she gave Rei an assuring smile.

Outside the VIP room, Amy was sobbing on Henry’s chest, as he rub her back to soothe her. "What is wrong my angel? Why are you crying?" Henry softly asked.

"Thank you so much Henry, what would I do without you?" Amy continued crying.

"Is that why you’re crying? Amy don’t cry, come on let’s sit first," Henry held Amy’s hand as he walk towards the nearest sofa seat.

Amy started to calm down after releasing all the stress that she has been holding up all this time because of the operation. Henry held both her hands while facing her to clearly see her face.

"Tell me, what made you cry? Are you worried about Jayson? The doctors said there’s a high chance of success remember?" Henry reassures her of the procedure tomorrow.

"That’s one, I am just overwhelmed by everything. I have waited for this for a long time and now it’s here and it’s all thanks to you." Amy said as she compose herself.

"No need to thank me. I’ll do everything for you and you should remember that," he said as he intensely look into her eyes, trying to assure her of his true feelings.

"But why? This is too much for the contract I have signed. I can’t pay all these back," Amy’s eyes started to well up again. She doesn’t want to go there but she wants to hear it. She wanted his assurance not only in actions but in words.

Her emotions are at their peak at the moment, all her insecurities are drowning her and she wanted to feel secure and protected just for once, she continued, "After our contract ends, you will leave and..."

"Amy, don’t you feel it? Don’t you feel me?" Henry cut her off and looked at her with questioning eyes that made her speechless. "I love you, Amy, I love you for a long time. Ever since I went back to Bellory that day when I was seventeen. When I saw you again, I knew that I no longer take hold of my own heart for you already own it.

That day I went home feeling empty because you’ve captured my heart. I feel lonely whenever I am not with you and when I am with you I feel like my heart is going to explode due to too much happiness.

You are the only reason that I live for Amy, you are my angel. If I didn’t see you that day, who knows where am I now? I was planning to kill myself after eating my mom’s favorite cake and my dad’s favorite coffee from your shop that day.

But when I came in, the first thing I saw was your beautiful smile. It was as bright as sunshine that made me want to see that sight over and over again. And I will make sure to do everything to see you smile... always... so don’t you ever think that I am going to leave you, because I won’t..." Henry hugged Amy tight and she felt all her worries melt away.

But even though Henry confessed his feeling to her, she still cannot admit her true feelings. She is hating herself right now for being indecisive and selfish, when Henry poured out himself to her, here she is not saying what she feels for him.

After some time she finally found her tongue again, "Henry, I don’t know what to say," and her stup!d self speak out differently than what she really wanted to say to him.

"Shh... It’s okay, no need to say anything," Henry pulled away from their hug, "I did say I love you, but it doesn’t mean you have to say it back," he smiled at her as he tuck the loose hair on her side.

"I can wait, Amy, I have waited this long and I will wait for you. Forget the contract, it doesn’t matter anymore, I won’t leave you," he assured her before kissing her on the forehead.
