CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 55: Best of the Best

Amy was overwhelmed by Henry’s confession even if she can already feel what he just confessed. Somehow deep inside she knows that Henry’s actions towards her are real and from the heart and not just contract-driven. But him saying that she’s the reason for him being alive is on a different level.

She knew that Henry had a dark past but not to the point of killing himself. She just wishes that she can say those three magical words back to him in full confidence, but not yet, her heart is just not ready.

Henry felt like an enormous rock has been lifted from his chest. He had never felt so featherweight before and it was just so heartening that he knows he did the right thing. Amy still being in front of him and didn’t run away means that she accepted his feeling even if she have not voiced out her feelings for him yet.

He just wished that it will be sooner than later that Amy will also admit her true feelings for him but he has to be patient. He knows that she will come around when she’s ready.

They spend the whole day in the hospital playing with the toys they gave to the kids. Amy saw how good Henry is at dealing with kids even though he doesn’t have any nephews or nieces yet or kids of his own.

’He looks like a kid too. He just knows how to make them laugh. He will be a good father someday. I wonder how many kids he wants and the gender that he prefers. I hope if we have a boy, it will look like him. Wait a minute what am I thinking?’ Amy was busy musing with herself that she didn’t know she was making different facial expressions that everyone can see.

"Seems like you are in deep thought for you to smile and frown in a short span of time. What are you thinking?" She didn’t know that Henry kept on glancing at her even though he was playing with the kids.

Amy jerked in a daze and was caught off guard so Jayson was the one who answered for her, "Aunt Amy looks like that when she thinks of what to write in her book."

"How’s your book by the way dear?" Alice butted in when she heard about the book.

"It is actually doing well Auntie, I am almost done with the second volume," Amy boasted feeling proud that after all the rejection and negative feedback from her boss, finally her book will be published soon.

"Oh, that’s good to hear then, looks like Henry is a big help after all," Alice then waggled her eyebrows as she pointed her eyes to Henry which he saw. She is aware of the struggle that Amy was going through before, when she was inexperienced in relationships and now she can see that Amy is really inspired because of him, she can’t help but teases her.

"I didn’t know I was helping, tell me how?" Henry inquired snoopily as he raised his brow chaffing Amy. He is curious as well to know what is she writing about, all he knows is that she is writing a romantic novel but never did he ask or read any of it. He was hesitant to ask her because she might not be comfortable telling him what is it about.

But now that it was Alice who brought it up, he can now openly ask about her book. Plus hearing Alice says that he was a big help in the creation of it, piqued his interest more in finding out what’s in it.

"Auntie!" Amy widen her eyes upon calling out to Alice but she chortled at her.

"Yeah, tell us about it, I also want to know more about your book Amy," Robert joined in the bantering, and Amy rolled her eyes as she now becomes the center of attention in the room.

"It’s nothing special, it is just your normal typical romance book," Amy answered vaguely, trying to avoid giving details connected to her experience with Henry.

"Oh come on Amy, give us some insider insight. What’s the use of being close to the author when we will only get the details once it’s out in the market?" And as expected of Rei, he couldn’t just stay quiet and added fuel to the fire, Amy thought.

"Tell us, Amy, how did Henry help you in your book," Rei added.

"I took pictures of the places that we visited and used those in some of the scenes and use the activities that we did as reference. That’s it, satisfied?" Amy shortly explained hoping that they will stop with their questions already.

Rei put his hand on his chin pretending to be thinking deeply, "Activities... huh? And you are writing a romance book... hmm? Ohhh... Those activities..."

Amy glared at Rei and when she looked at Henry, the man is smiling ear to ear while trying to suppress his laugh. She wanted to ask him to defend her from all the teasing she was getting but it looks like he was enjoying it as well.

"No! Yes! Whatever you are thinking that was it, okay? Happy now?" Amy blushed thinking about it and sighed heavily and wishing inwardly that Rei will stop and will say no more. She knows he is thinking about their river escapade after he saw them in that state.

She wanted to deny it at first but she just said yes to make him stop knowing that this man loves getting on other people’s nerves whenever he gets a chance.

Thankfully, the lead surgeon together with his team for Jayson’s operation came in and saved her from all the ribbing she is receiving.

"Good evening. Oh! looks like everyone is here," Dr. Johnson greeted and when he saw Henry, he walked towards him eagerly as he had been wanting to meet the man himself.

Dr. Johnson shook Henry’s hand as he said, "You must be the famous Mr. Henry Welsh right? Nice to meet you."

"Yes doc, in the flesh, nice to meet you too, and thank you for taking care of my nephew. I really appreciate it," Henry replied.

’His nephew huh?’ Amy did not miss his word when he claimed that Jayson is his nephew. The same goes for the elder couple, Alice and Robert, they gave each other a meaningful smile and were happy with Henry’s remark.

"I should be the one to thank you for trusting our doctors here, it is an honor to do this operation for your family," Dr. Johnson acclaimed.

’I am sure he will ask a favor later on,’ and as always Rei will always have a thought in his mind about everything.

"Well, we are here to check on Jayson and to remind him to sleep early. He needs to be fully rested, so no watching of cartoons late at night ok?" Dr. Johnson smiled at Jayson as he gives him a thumbs up and the boy cheerfully nodded back.

"Everything looks good in the lab and we will do the operation first thing in the morning and hopefully we can be finished before the evening," the doctor added.

Then the pediatrician gave out a few more reminders before the group of doctors went out of the room. Henry took this opportunity and walked out with them.

"Doctor, please make sure that Jayson will only receive the best. This is very important to my girlfriend and her family. Whatever is cost, you don’t have to worry, and I will return the favor to you," Henry prodded to make sure that the hospital will do its best in making Jayson walk again.

"No need to worry Mr. Welsh, Jayson already has the best of the best and I am highly confident that he will be running in no time. As for the favor, I will hold on to that," he smiled and winked at Henry as he say his goodbye.

When Henry got back inside the VIP room, he saw Amy tucking Jayson in bed, telling him what he must do before the surgery.

"Amy, we can sleep here if you want, I can request for another bed so you can sleep comfortably," Henry offered. He knows how important the surgery is for Amy tomorrow and he will not stop her from spending the night with her nephew if she wants to.

"No need Henry but thank you. This brave man here is a grandpa’s boy and he already declined my offer to sleep here," Amy pouted and crossed her arms trying to be funny in front of Jayson.

"I told you I’m a big boy and grandpa has more stories than you about when he was young, so I choose him," Jayson cheekily answered.

"Alright now, let us all go, you heard the doctors, Jayson needs a full rest tonight," Alice then called up everyone except for her husband to get out of the room and let her grandson rest.

Jena held on to Amy’s hand as they walked out of the room, but Henry offered to carry her instead after seeing her yawn and Jena happily accepted.
