CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 155: Exceed Your Expectations
After everyone had settled in their new offices and cubicles, Amy called for their first official business meeting. More people joined them including the I.T. Manager and Productions Manager.
Amy prepared for that meeting and even practiced with Henry last night just to make sure everything will be perfect on her first day as the CEO of Bellory Incorporated. But even though she was well prepared for it, she can’t help but feel nervous as she talks in front of many people.
What’s making her nervous is the fact that even though she is the boss, these people are not ordinary employees. These managers have years of experience while she doesn’t. However, she still tried to forget any insecurities that she have that day and deliver her speech confidently.
The meeting went smoothly and everyone was proud of her. They know that she is new to the industry but she carried herself well and they were impressed.
"Babe, I must say, you are becoming like your husband. So authoritative and confident," Mary uttered as they walk out of the meeting room.
"Is it a bad thing?" She doesn’t know if Mary is complimenting her or mocking her.
Mary laugh at how serious her face was when she asked her question, "Of course not! It’s a good thing, babe. It means that you have what it takes to be a leader and a boss of a big company like your husband’s. Who knows maybe one day, he will kick Anton out and will make you his COO."
The two chuckled, "Why would you wish for Anton to lose his job? You are planning something for him, don’t you? Besides, Henry would never do that. They are like brothers. Oh! before I forget, can you ask Kevin to go to my office before you leave?"
Mary nodded and did what she was asked to do.
A few minutes had passed and Amy heard a knock on the door and saw Kevin waving his hand as he peek through the glass window beside the wooden door.
"Come in Kevin, please have a seat," Amy said.
"I hope I am not in trouble for you to call me for a private meeting in your office," Kevin sat on the sofa as Amy gestured for him to do so. She already asked Mitch earlier to prepare coffee and dessert for them on the coffee table.
"No, you’re not. Why would you think that?" Amy then handed Kevin a cup of coffee.
"Well, it seems like I pissed off your husband this morning. And I want to apologize for that. If you want I will go to his office right now and apologize personally. I have been away for years and I got used to a culture different from here so I think I have offended him because of that."
"You, don’t have to worry about that. I already talk to him. He is a bit possessive and the jealous type but he listens to me. Where are you from by the way?"
"Brookegrove. My family migrated to Brookegrove when my dad got a job there. But I decided to move back here and stay for good," Kevin said.
"Really? My niece and nephew are there now. I have been there for a few days and I must say I love the place," Amy sip one more time from her coffee before putting the cup down and picking up the documents on the table, and then handing it to Kevin.
"As you know, I will be taking my honeymoon next week and I will be gone for a week. Mary will take over and those things on the list, I want you to take care of it. I will be very busy this week and today is my only day to meet up with you.
Coordinate with Josephine regarding the hiring of the new employees and I want you to personally monitor their training. Please make sure that they are ready and in line with our process and business code. I want everyone to be calibrated all the time.
We plan to start opening the shops one by one in two weeks’ time. Do you think you can handle that while I am gone?" Amy instructed as she observe him go through the list of the task she had given him.
Kevin smiled before looking back at Amy, "I will make sure to exceed your expectations! I promise to not let you down. You know, Josephine would not hire me if I am not good."
He put back the documents on the table and continued drinking his coffee as he sits comfortably on the sofa. He crossed his legs and leaned back, "So when are you leaving? I hope you will go to a luxurious place, you deserve that vacation."
"We will be leaving on Saturday morning. And yes it’s an expensive place, I booked it myself. Using my husband’s card of course," they both chuckled at her statement. "He wouldn’t let me use my money anyways," she added.
"May I know where are you going? Who knows maybe I will have my honeymoon there someday too," Kevin uttered.
Amy unlocked her phone and searched for something before showing it to Kevin.
"Look at this..." Amy watched Kevin browse through her phone, "Isn’t it great?"
"Oh wow, yes, where is this?"
"It’s in Kuh’mali, a private island in the south. The resort’s name is Ahka’nare Moku. You should go there even if it’s not your honeymoon. They have a perfect 5-star review. They offer a lot of amazing activities and have great food according to the people who have been there," Amy proudly mentions as she points to the pictures from the resort on her phone.
"I can see that... Oh nice, they even have a private boat and plane to pick up their guests. This must cost a lot," Kevin couldn’t help but browse more on the resort’s website for everything that he is seeing in there are pretty impressive.
"Yes they have, but Henry will fly his own private jet so I am quite excited because of that."
"Wow, just wow. You are a very lucky wife... Well, I will be going now, and enjoy your honeymoon," Kevin handed back Amy’s phone before leaving.
Amy looks at her phone one more time and browses the resort’s site a bit with a smile on her face before going back to her work. She sighs upon standing and seeing the papers that she needs to go through and sign. Not only that she has to finish this week’s documents but also needs to do advance work for her upcoming vacation.
