CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 154: Vexing Smile
Mary waved at Amy as soon as she saw her enter the fifth-floor food court, she was already with Sandra, Maya, and Josephine the HR Manager.
Everyone on the floor either bowed or greeted Henry upon seeing him and Amy noticed how he was showing off by being overly friendly to everyone. He was wearing a very obvious smug on his face, which she is sure is for Kevin.
"I didn’t know you do eat here Mr. Welsh," Mary teased after seeing Henry scan the place. It was evident that it was his first time on the floor or if not, he must have not seen it for a long time. He looks like a tourist checking the place out.
"I don’t, I usually eat in my office. I have no time to go here," Henry said as he focus his attention back on Mary.
"What changed?" Kevin butted in making the rest look at him in surprise. His tone was so casual, that if other people will hear it, they will think that the two are long-time friends.
"My wife," Henry tersely said and was about to pull Amy to one of the stalls but Kevin was not done with his interrogation.
"Oh is that it? I thought you are so busy that you don’t even have time to spend your honeymoon that’s why you are here now."
"Mr. Murray, why are you so concerned about our honeymoon? Do you perhaps want to join us? I am sorry but a threesome is not our fetish and I am straight, I have no plans of sleeping with you."
Amy’s jaw dropped at Henry’s impertinent remark. She was mortified to have heard him speak like that to her newly hired manager. And like her, everyone was speechless except for Kevin, of course.
"Don’t get me wrong Mr. Welsh. I just think that Amy here deserves better. It is every woman’s dream to have a great wedding and an unforgettable honeymoon don’t you think?"
Before Henry could rebut, Amy wrapped one of her arms around Henry’s waist and put her other hand on his chest, signaling to him to calm down. She knows Henry, he will definitely not let this one go, and she has to do something before Henry makes her fire Kevin right then and there.
"Thanks for your concern, but it was my idea to work this week and have our honeymoon next week. I won’t be able to relax if I will just leave while my company is dealing with important matters without me.
Me and my husband have a lifetime of honeymoon to spend with. A delay of one week, will not hurt us," Amy smiled at Kevin before craning her head to look at Henry.
"Let’s get something to eat, my love. I am getting so hungry smelling the food in here," Amy added, before dragging Henry away from the group to buy food from one of the stalls.
"Are you out of your mind? Why did you talk to Mr. Welsh like that? Do you have a death wish or perhaps you hate the job that I gave you and you wanted to be fired? Plus call our boss Mrs. Welsh, don’t call her by her first name," Josephine said as she glare at her friend Kevin.
"Did I say anything wrong? I was just asking and expressing my opinion," Kevin shrugged then face the other three ladies with them. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"I am sorry for that ladies. It’s been a while since I have been here, I seem to forget the customs this country has," Kevin extended his hand to Mary, and added, "Kevin Murray, Operations Manager. You must be Mary, our Chief Operations Officer."
"Yes, I am. This is Sandra, our Marketing Manager and this is Maya our Sales Manager. Allow me to say this, you should listen to Josephine if you want to keep your job."
"What? Why? This is a free country, are we not allowed to voice out our opinions?" Kevin asked.
"Well, when it comes to Amy, Henry Welsh knows no laws, and will go to greater lengths," Mary winked at Kevin before laughing, as if saying that she was just joking. However, as they say, jokes are half meant and that’s what Mary wanted to get across.
"Come on, enough of Amy and Henry. Those two will always be in their own world. Let’s go eat!" All of them then went around the floor to check what the food stalls has to offer.
On the other side of the floor is an annoyed Amy who had a frown on her face as she looks at the different dishes displayed in each store.
"Don’t tell me you are mad at me, he started it," Henry can’t stay quiet anymore. He can’t take that Amy got irritated at him because of someone else’s fault.
"Henry j-just let me be. I will feel better later," Amy said as she continue browsing the food stalls.
Henry pulled her wrist to make her look at him. He held onto her on both shoulders and bend over a little to level her gaze.
"Love, look at me. Tell me, are you mad at me?" Henry asked worriedly for Amy never gets mad at him ever.
Amy sighed before staring back at him, "I am not mad because you acted that way. I am disappointed because marrying you is not enough for you to trust me. You know you are the first man in my life and I promised you to be the last as well. Isn’t that enough?"
Henry hugged Amy which caught the attention of a lot of people in the food court, some of them even murmured to each other. Their marriage was not yet known to a lot of people and seeing their boss hug a woman like that will definitely cause a fuss.
"I am sorry, love. I do trust you, but I don’t trust that man. I just want to show him that I will not tolerate him flirting with you."
Amy pulled away and looked at Henry in confusion, "Flirt with me? What do you mean? Nothing like that happened ever since I met him."
"You don’t see it yet because he is just starting to move and I won’t allow that. I will kick his face first before he lays a finger on you."
Amy sighed once more, "Alright, alright, let us drop this and order our food. I don’t want to have a fight on our first day as husband and wife, so let’s go."
Henry nodded and smiled, he looked in Kevin’s direction as soon as Amy turned around. He saw him looking back at him with a vexing smile.
