CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 104: Overthinking
Everyone is in the boardroom except for Mary and Amy, "Ava where are they?" Henry asked impatiently.
"They said they will follow, but I will check on them now," Ava hurriedly went out of the boardroom for Henry’s voice is not a pleasing one.
She already reminded the girls about the meeting and went out to help Toby in setting up the boardroom, not knowing that the two fell asleep in Amy’s office.
Henry has been hot-headed to everyone else for three days now. He gets annoyed and pissed at everyone who will not instantly do what he says or asks.
Everyone in the Welsh Holdings building is used to it. The Henry Welsh that they know is a grumpy, hard-to-please, and demanding boss. However, he pays well so everyone just brushes it off, besides it is not often that they get to interact with him.
Most of the time, only the higher-ups get to work with him and that includes Rei and Anton, who are not spared from his mood swings.
Henry buried himself with work the last three days and that also includes Rei and Anton since he is rushing everything so their work is affected too. But then, they know Henry and his condition.
As his best friends, they wanted to help and support him, so they can only follow to help him cope with it.
"Henry, I think you should talk to Dr. Martin," Anton bravely commented.
"I already did," Henry tersely uttered.
"And?"
"I am ok, he said it’s not a relapse. I’m... I’m just..." Henry rolled back his head on the back of his seat.
Yesterday, he went to see Dr. Martin to check if what he is feeling is related to his condition.
"What are you feeling, Henry?" He recalled Dr. Martin asked him during their session.
"I am upset, annoyed, and almost angry," Henry said.
"Is it because those people interrupted you or is it because Amy said no?" Dr. Martin probed further.
"It’s the latter,"
"And why do you think you feel that way?"
"I wanted to make love with her but she refused. She never said no. It was the first time she said no. I mean why would she refuse me? No one says no to me," Henry ranted as he recalls what happened.
"But in the past, if one of your contracted girlfriends said no to you, what would you have done then?"
"I would end the contract and find a new one. Or perhaps I will just find someone to f*ck right away," Henry said straight away without thinking.
"So why didn’t you do it now?" Dr. Martin was taking notes of Henry’s every answer and behavior during their session even though he already has a clue of what was going on with Henry.
"Because it’s Amy. I would never do that to her. There was never a time that I had thought of cheating on her or replacing her with another woman, doc."
"I see... So you love her?"
"I do, doc," Henry sighed. As he talks to Dr. Martin, his mind becomes clearer and now that it is, he can already guess what the doctor will say next.
"Did you talk to Amy about it?"
"Not yet, doc."
"Henry, being in a relationship requires communication. It’s give and take. You are used to getting what you want from other people because it’s either they are scared of you or you forced them.
And as you said, Amy is not one of those people. You said you love her. And I think you know what to do, am I right?"
"But doc, you don’t understand. I felt upset to the point of getting angry and I am afraid I am having a relapse," Henry rebutted.
"Besides anger and annoyance, what else did you feel when she rejected you?"
Henry stayed silent for a moment recalling the moment when he saw Amy wearing her undies again after saying no to him.
"I felt fear, I was afraid," Henry sighed. Now that he remembers why, he is more scared now than that day.
"And why is that?"
"I fear that she will leave me. I’m afraid that when the time comes that she had to choose, she will not choose me."
"Why do you say that?"
"Doc, I have been very open to her. I said I wanted to marry her but I don’t think she wants to."
"Have you proposed to her yet?"
"Not yet."
Dr. Martin chuckled and shook his head, "Then how will she say yes if you’re not proposing properly, you silly."
"What if she says no?"
"Then she says no, simple. Either you work harder in courting her and then ask her again or you give up. Cross the bridge when you get there Henry.
You worry yourself for nothing. Don’t overthink. Overthinking makes you paranoid and it’s causing a rip in your relationship.
I would say it’s common but if you want to make it work, you have to learn to improve yourself. Practice and learn to communicate better."
That’s how their session went and Dr. Martin concluded that his condition is not coming back. He just needs to deal with some of his fears and insecurities.
"You’re just what?" Anton impatiently asked after Henry got lost in his thoughts.
"I’m just going through something normal..." Henry said before he took out his phone pretending to type something to dismiss Anton’s interrogation.
The last thing he wants to admit to his friends is that he is just being childish because he didn’t get what he wants. And that he is overthinking and bottling up everything within him.
He doesn’t want to say anything anymore to Rei and Anton since they have been telling him to tell Amy about the information they found about her land. But until now he can’t find the courage to tell her.
He is afraid that the information he holds will take away Amy from him. But at the same time, he knows that she needs to inform her soon.
"I knew it! It’s not a relapse, you’re just going through puberty that’s why you’re having tantrums because of your raging hormones! Ha ha ha!" Rei exclaimed making Anton laugh too.
"What? I am not! Do you have a death wish Rei?" Henry said in a jest.
"Sorry, we are late. Amy and I dozed off after the last interview. It’s a long day," The three stopped laughing when Mary, Amy, and the rest entered the room.

***Sorry guys, from today till end of March 2023 I will only have 1 Chapter/day. I rescued a dog and she had operation today so I have to take care of her for at least a week.
