CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 105: Speechless
Amy and Mary sat on the empty chairs on the center table while the secretaries and assistants sat on the chairs that were lined up against the wall.
"By the way, if you don’t mind, dinner will be served after the update reporting so we can all focus. Is that ok with you?" Anton asked Amy and Mary, who nodded right away.
Anton started the meeting by reporting the funds that have been released so far to the Bellory account and how much is remaining that will be released in the coming days. His report also includes the allotment amount for the construction of each branch and how much is the remaining amount needed based on Theo’s computation.
"Everything looks good so far as expected from Theo," Henry said after Anton finished his report.
Mary was the next to present the development that they have achieved such as hiring the core staff, finalizing the menu, securing the suppliers and stocks, and training plan.
After that, it was Amy’s turn. She glanced at Henry first who was reading the copy of Mary’s report. She sighs before walking to the projector screen. Her heart was beating fast and she never thought she would be this nervous when it is just the four of them and their secretaries and assistants in the room.
Perhaps the reason why she is nervous is that she doesn’t want to disappoint Henry, especially now that it seems like he is avoiding her. Is he still really upset with her? She wondered.
Amy tackled the timeline that she created for the projects that are happening all at the same time. She also plans to hire the people needed for daily operations two weeks before they open so they can train first before doing the soft opening.
She also suggested not opening the branches all at the same time. She wanted to open them at least 3 days apart from each other so she and Mary could facilitate the first three days.
Amy made sure to always look at Henry while she was talking but unfortunately he never caught him looking back at her. He just kept staring at the screen.
After all the reports are done, their dinner was served and it was still a working dinner since they still need to talk about plans on the opening day and day-to-day operation plans.
"Oh my! If this is what you serve on every working lunch and dinner. I’ll be happy to attend the meeting every day," Mary blurted when the steak was served. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
It also has salad greens with berries vinaigrette plus grilled shrimp on the side. And of course, steak cannot go without its matching wine.
To Amy’s surprise, Henry started giving her meat that he sliced coming from his plate as they listen to Anton and Mary’s plans. This made Amy look at Henry who was still busy slicing on his plate.
Amy bit her lower lip to hide her smile. This simple gesture from Henry made her feel relieved and overjoyed. He is not angry with her anymore and her heart rejoiced.
Even though Henry is cutting the meat into tiny bits and pieces for her, he never looked or talked to her. But it doesn’t matter for Amy, the fact that he is caring for her like that is enough to make her confident that soon everything between them will go back to what it used to be.
"Before we wrap up, is there anything that you want to add Henry?" Anton asked after they are done with dinner and discussing the plans.
"Yes, could you take over tomorrow in checking the updates on the farm?"
"Oh, I thought I will be the one to go there tomorrow?" Amy commented, surprised that Henry is changing the plans that they just talked about earlier.
"No, I need you in another meeting and a much more important task," Henry uttered before he finish his glass of wine.
"Sure, I am free the whole weekend. Amy, is it ok if I stay there, it is such a relaxing place even if I will go there for work, it doesn’t seem like work at all," Anton said and Amy agreed right away.
"Why not go there with me now? I need to commute from here and it’s already late. You can drive me there and stay for the night. I mean if it’s ok with you," Mary said with a wink that only Anton saw.
Anton cleared his throat, "O-Ok, perhaps I can do that."
Henry stood up first and went back to his office, followed by Anton and Mary.
"Do you need us tomorrow to go with you?" Ava asked Amy after she gave them a few reminders on what they needed to do on Monday.
"Uhm... Maybe not anymore. You heard Henry, but keep your lines open just in case. I will try my best to not call you up so you can enjoy your weekend. It has been a busy week for us," Amy said as she packs up the documents that she used in her report.
It has been three days since Henry became upset and it is the weekend tomorrow; Amy really wanted to make up with him already so they can enjoy their weekend together.
She stopped in front of Henry’s office and took a deep breath before she knocked.
"Come in," she heard Henry say.
Henry was putting back some file binders on the bookshelf when she entered. She did not say anything or rather she doesn’t know what to say or how to start.
Her silence made Henry turn around and she saw him frown a bit before fixing his expression back to neutral. But he just stared at her.
What she didn’t know is that Henry’s heart was beating really fast the moment their eye met. He too doesn’t know what to say and was completely speechless.
Amy then found her voice again, "Hi."
She cursed inwardly when the word that she uttered was not the one that she wanted to say.
"Do you need anything?" Her heart ache when she heard him say that. Amy lowered her head and looked at the floor as her fingers fidget behind her.
She took a deep breath as she brazen herself to say what she really feels, "I miss you, love..."
