CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 106: My Mistake
"I miss you, love..."
Henry stiffened when he heard her say that as he look at Amy who was looking down at the floor. He clenched his fist as he felt a sting in his chest seeing how sad she is.
He admits to himself that it was his fault and he hated himself for doing this to her. His pride and ego got the best of him and he regretted that.
"I’m sorry...I’m wrong..."
Amy slowly lifted her head to look at him. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears as she watch Henry walk towards her.
"No, no, no... You will not cry because of my mistake."
She blinked away the tears that are threatening to fall down as Henry enveloped her in his arm.
"I love you, Henry, please don’t be angry at me anymore."
Henry pulled away a bit to look at her, "Love, I am not angry. I am ashamed of myself for acting so childish and egoistic. Please forgive me, I must admit, I am not used to people saying no to me."
"Am I one of those people?" Amy mumbled as she control her emotions for she felt like she will cry anytime soon.
"No, my angel, absolutely not. This is one hundred percent my fault. I will be better next time. Can you forgive me?"
"Of course, I can," Amy smiled before she pulls him in for a passionate kiss.
Boy, she misses kissing him like that. The feeling of his warm lips against hers. The smell of his breath intoxicates her. But Henry cut it short.
"Amy, can we talk?"
Amy frowned a little seeing how serious he looks, "You look serious, Henry. You are scaring me. You are not breaking up with me right?" Amy said that as a joke to lighten up the seriousness on his face. She knows and believes that this man in front of her loves her so much.
"What? Hell no! Why are you thinking like that?"
"I’m kidding. Tell me what is it, I’m listening," Henry then led them both to the sofa.
He then took some documents from the drawer of his desk and sat beside Amy.
He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply trying to collect his confidence.
"Before I show you this, I want you to know that I didn’t mean to keep this from you. I was just trying to find the best time to inform you about it. And I will try my everything to help you solve this. Promise me to not take any action without informing me."
"What is it? Show me already. You’re making me more curious with everything that you are saying."
Henry took another deep breath before handing over the document to Amy.
He watched her closely as she read through each page, the crease on her face became more and more as she go through the document.
Amy can feel her heartbeat go faster and faster as she read each line. She was confused and shocked at the same time. She tried to calm herself down but the more she tried the more agitated she becomes.
Until she saw the last document. Her anger flared.
"What the hell is this?" She asked Henry. She was fuming with anger. She wanted to tear that piece of paper into bits and pieces but she knows she must not.
"It’s a marriage contract with Ash’s name and yours. He already signed it, only your signature is missing."
"I know what is a marriage contract when I see one! Why does it have Ash’s signature?"
"Calm down love, let me get you water first," Henry immediately went to his mini fridge to get her a bottle of water.
"What is this document? How come I was not informed that my dad’s barren land is in collateral? Where did you get this?" Amy snarled as he watch Henry open the water bottle for her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Drink first, love."
"No! I don’t want to drink, I want some answers, now!"
"Ok, I heard you. I had the bank and Ash’s dad investigated after I took interest in your barren land. I thought perhaps it can be of use, that maybe I can invest in that to help you out with the loan. But we found out that it is already in collateral with the bank.
The loan amount is huge for something useless and we found out that your dad and Ash’s father suspects before that it holds oil deposits but I can’t confirm that yet. I won’t be able to get permits for testing without the land title."
"What? Oil? And how about the marriage contract?" Amy asked.
"Yes, love, oil not yet sure what kind though. I believe that Ash’s father proposed an arrange marriage to your dad before he died in exchange for the loan.
The bank is owned by Ash’s aunt. And they are willing to forfeit the loan and convert it into an investment and company share once you two are married so they can extract the oil deposits under Brighton Industries."
"What?! And what made them think I would sign that marriage contract?!"
"Would you not? If your dad is alive and he is in deep debt and you haven’t met me. Would you not sign it and sacrifice yourself and marry Ash to save your dad and all the things that he worked hard for?"
That was the last thing that he wanted to ask Amy but he has to. He has to hear it. He knows that Amy loves him but the situation now is different from the situation before. It pains him to imagine Amy agreeing to the solution offered to her family.
He knows he can help her but not now, not when he doesn’t hold all the power that he needs from his own company. If she would only agree with him so they can solve it together then they won’t be talking like this now. But then again he doesn’t want to force her.
He believes that waiting for her is worth it. Success is sweeter when you work hard for it, and Amy is worth the wait. If he needs to kill every evil within him and change every bad behavior that he has, he will do it for Amy.
