CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 103: Busier Than Us
Two days had passed and Amy was busier than ever. Together with Mary, Ava, and Mitch, they interviewed applicants for certain positions that are needed, for their company to start functioning before the opening of the Bellory Branches.
The first set of employees that they will hire is for human resources, managerial, and supervisory positions. Amy and Mary agreed that the training for these employees will happen on the farm since they don’t have a space yet.
That is except for Amy’s office and Bellory cafe which could not accommodate the number of people that they need to train.
"Amy, we should get an office soon. We need desks for our staff and your office won’t do. This is the CEO’s floor and you can’t stay here any longer," Mary sighed as she arrange the resume of the people that they still need to interview today.
"I know and I’m gonna look for one this weekend."
"Ask Henry he might know someone leasing their space."
"Yeah, well, we haven’t talked that much for the past two days, we were both so busy. Even Anton and Rei are busy.
We only see each other here through that window but he would always have a meeting or Rick and Toby would be in his office working with him."
"I can see that... He is busier than us," Mary said as she watch Henry through the glass window sign pile of documents while Rick helps him.
"But he’s no longer upset with you?" Mary added.
"I am not sure really. Rei and Henry would go home late. Even Rei looks very tired even at breakfast. He said Henry has a lot of work for this week only. Next week he will be free so I guess I will know by then," Amy said.
"What do you mean you talked to Rei? How about Henry," Mary stopped arranging the papers in front of her and looked at Amy.
She is wondering how come these two are not talking to each other when they live together and even sleep on the same bed.
"Well, he goes home late and I’m sleeping already. Then I wake up early and he is still sleeping. We don’t go to work together and when we see each other here, we are both busy.
Just like now. For the past two days, the three of them would always have a working lunch so we really don’t spend time with each other lately." Amy explained while she looks at Henry.
She really has no idea if he is still upset with her, and she doesn’t want to dwell on that since she can see how busy he is and how tired he looks.
She never doubted him but she hopes that both of them will have at least a little bit of free time so they can be together again. And perhaps do some lovey-dovey on their bed.
Her thought was cut when Toby knocked, "Ms. Bell, Mr. Welsh asked if you and your team can join the working lunch later. Are you available?"
"Let me see..." Amy checked her schedule with Mitch. They still have a lot of people to interview and they wanted to finish talking to everyone on their list today.
Tomorrow it will be the weekend and she plans to go to the farm to check on Sandra and the ongoing construction and replanting going on there.
"Toby, would it be possible to move it to dinner instead? We have applicants lined up outside and we don’t want to reschedule them anymore," Amy asked.
"Hmm... That will do Ms. Bell. I will inform Mr. Welsh and the rest. See you later." Toby said after checking Henry’s schedule on his tablet.
"Looks like you’ll finally be able to spend time with each other," Mary teased as she wiggle her eyebrows at Amy.
"It’s a meeting Mary, not a date. You’ll be there too and the others so don’t get your hopes up."
Before the day ends Mary and Amy found potential candidates for the positions that they wanna fill up from the applicants that they interviewed for the past three days.
"I’m exhausted," Mary laid down on Amy’s office sofa as soon as the last applicant went out.
Amy did the same, opposite Mary, "Me too."
They stayed like that for some time staring silently at the ceiling not uttering a single word. They can’t believe how tiring it was to talk to applicants even if they were just sitting there the whole day.
But then again even if they were so tired, they still feel happy after achieving their goal of completing their list in just three days with the help of Mitch and Ava.
Amy grew up knowing that it was her brother who will inherit their cafe and farm. Her plan was just to write novels, travel the world, and enjoy life. Never did she think that she would run a company one day.
Even though the path that she is heading right now was unplanned, she decided to keep walking on it.
She had talked to a lot of applicants and she gets to know about their lives a little bit. It increased her determination to work hard for Bellory to help those people find a job so they can provide for their families. Just like how she is providing for hers.
She feels good inside even though her body was dead tired, knowing that by expanding Bellory and the farm, not only that she will earn more for Jayson and Jena but also help others.
Mary feels the same way as Amy. She wanted nothing but to help her best friend and right now she couldn’t ask for more.
Amy promised herself to work harder so they can push the second phase of the expansion sooner so she can pay off her bank loans and provide more jobs for the people, just like Henry.
Happy thoughts and a lot of future plans filled their minds as they lay there on the sofa, taking advantage of the only time they could rest until they dozed off.
