Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 523: The Bait
He Juan’s plan was simple. To stop the completion of this serum, he had to forcibly cut off its source from the root. Which meant he had to make it so that Luo Xuan would not be able to provide his blood for the experiment ever again.
Yes, Luo Xuan might be his benefactor, his Boss and the person he had sworn allegiance to. However, since the night of the major transaction which resulted in Marius’ accident, He Juan had repaid the debt by shielding the omegas from the Interpol’s ambush, and from then on, they did not owe each other anymore. The most solid evidence lay on the wound on his back, where the once mighty black dragon had been crippled of half its power. He no longer felt obligated to be Luo Xuan’s shield and protector.
And to achieve his goal, he needed Captain Yi Peizhi’s help.
"A–Are you sure?" Yi Peizhi’s voice trembled with thick emotions as he stared at the documents before him. It was just the tip of his iceberg of what He Juan had gathered from the secret experiment, but it was already enough to tempt the officer. "T–This... this is a major scandal that involves multiple first-world countries! It’s at the level where the Interpol has to intervene! Are you sure you want to entrust me with this valuable information?!" He asked in a haste, utterly flabbergasted.
They were meeting once again in the same teahouse as before. He Juan elegantly sipped on his tea and raised his eyelids to regard the man before him, "I’m offering you a chance to have the upper hand before I send these to the Interpol. Are you interested?"
"Of course I am!" Yi Peizhi’s eyes lit up and his cheeks flushed with excitement. This was a diamond opportunity which one might not come across even in a lifetime, and now it had dropped itself to his lap, how could he bring himself to refuse? Not only would it elevate the reputation of the Yuyang City Bureau in the public’s eyes, but it would also benefit him personally. However...
"You wouldn’t have given me this information for free," he narrowed his eyes sharply. "What do you want in return?"
It was nice to talk to smart people, as he did not have to beat around the bush. He Juan gently set down his teacup and adopted on a solemn expression, "I need you to apprehend someone."
"Who?"
"The Boss of Xuanlong."
Yi Peizhi’s eyes bulged out in shock and he almost choked on his saliva. "W–Who did you just say?!"
"The Boss of Xuanlong," He Juan repeated, his serious tone leaving no room for doubt. Yi Peizhi gawked at him in sheer disbelief, his mouth opening and closing without a word. He Juan knew what the man wanted to say, thus he added, "Yes, you didn’t hear me wrong. He is my Boss. Just take it as me... planning a coup d’etat."
It took Yi Peizhi a moment to collect himself and he shook his head in astonishment, "I’ve never pegged you to be so ambitious."
He Juan knew that the man had misunderstood his intention, but he chose not to elaborate further. "So, do we have a deal?"
"As much as I want to help you, XIU," Yi Peizhi shook his head with a bitter chuckle. "I’m afraid that our city bureau is not powerful enough to capture such a big shot. We don’t even know anything about him, so how could we apprehend him?"
He Juan nodded, appreciating the man’s honesty. However, he had already prepared his own plan. "No problem, I will provide you with everything you need. I don’t expect much from you; just detain him for a while until the Interpol takes over. Your role is to ensure that nothing goes wrong during that period. Can you handle it?"
Yi Peizhi stared at him for one long moment before rubbing his face roughly. "Okay," he said, then once again, "Okay, let’s hear your plan first."
He Juan smiled, "Good decision. First and foremost, for this operation to succeed, I will be the bait."
Time continued its march forward as He Juan laid out his plan to Yi Peizhi, whose jaws dropped wider and wider. By the end of the explanation, he could only shake his head, seemingly at a loss for words. "Crazy. You have really gone crazy..."
He Juan stared at his own reflection on the surface of the chrysanthemum tea that had already gone cold, a smile dancing on the corner of his lips, though it did not reach his eyes at all. "Yes," he admitted with a light exhale. "I suppose I have." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Perhaps one day, Luo Xuan would regret ever handing over Xuanlong’s management to He Juan, but that realization would only dawn on him when it was far too late.
For now, with the help of his closest and trusted subordinates which did not amount to ten, He Juan created many shell companies and began to launder Xuanlong’s funds away. The only ones to notice his discreet moves were the staff members from the financial department. However, after He Juan gave them a good talk – aka threatening them a little – as well as guaranteed the safety of their families and themselves, they promised to keep mum and took the secret to their graves.
Though nothing seemed unusual with Xuanlong on the surface, only a handful people knew that a deep undercurrent was quietly brewing underneath, one that might possibly evolve into a full-blown explosion that would catch the world by storm.
All the while, He Juan maintained his regular routine and attended to his everyday work. On a cold winter morning half a month later, after receiving a call from Captain Yi Peizhi, he promptly dialed Luo Xuan’s number.
"Let’s meet in person," he said as soon as the call was connected.
This was the first time they had spoken since the incident in the underground torture chamber. Even now, the wounds on He Juan’s body still throbbed and pulsed whenever he did some exercise. He reckoned that it was the kind of pain he would carry with him for the rest of his life. It served as a good reminder for his silly and naïve mistake, thinking that he could change someone who treated him as nothing more than a hindrance. He was not actually as calm as he seemed on the surface. His heart was thumping irregularly, his blood simmering and his palms sweaty. However, he couldn’t afford to let anything show in his voice. Not right now. Not when he had staked his everything on this.
A soft chuckle sounded from the other side, making He Juan grip his phone so tightly that his knuckles turned white. "So you’re willing to talk to me now?"
He Juan breathed in and out through his mouth. Failure was not an option, he reminded himself. "Yes," he grunted. "I still have one last important thing to tell you."
Luo Xuan was silent for a second before replying, "...Okay, where should we meet?"
